What an amazing find! From start to finish this is one of my favorite restaurants ever! Located on Petite Champlain, Lapin Sauté offers some truly delicious plates. Like the name states, there are quite a few rabbit dishes on the menu, but I ended up choosing three courses via their Plate D’Hôte Menu. My appetizer was the Roasted Root Vegetable Salad, which was a fantastic start, that was filling but left me plenty of room to enjoy more. For my main course I had the Braised Prime Rib with Ratatouille(which was so tender I could cut it with a spoon!), and my desert was the Salted Honey Pie, which I thought would too sweet, but they did a fantastic job with that as well. All in all, it was an extraordinary meal made even better by attentive and helpful staff, a cozy atmosphere and wonderful company! I can’t wait to come back on my next trip to Quebec.

I ordered the Table D’Hote which included an appetizer(homemade maple-wood smoked duck breast) which was amazing, a main course(rabbit w/two mustard sauce) which was spectacular, and desert(raspberry pudding) which was both amazing and spectacular. I have tried the finest French cuisine in Paris and it does not compare to what I digested on this night. Although this restaurant is centered in a touristy part of Old Quebec, it’s tiny location and intimate atmosphere make it a must try. Thank you for the great experience. I feel as though I have to revisit my previous 5 star reviews and knock them down to a 4 star to demonstrate what level this restaurant is on.

This place is definitely a must try. It’s located alongside all the tourist places but you don’t feel it inside. The food is excellent. We had the sampler and everything on it delectable. A big fan of eating game so this tray had some rabbit items and duck. Note that there only about 10 – 12 tables, so reservations are recommended and easily done through their website as I did.

Lovely little restaurant(great ambiance), a bit crowded. On one of the very cool, romantic little streets in Old Quebec. Had rabbit for the very first time, it was excellent. Had the cheese fondue to start which was amazing. We made reservations for an early dinner(6) and by 7 pm the place was hopping; reservations are recommended. Very nice wine list and great service. Would definitely come back here.

Le Lapin Sauté located on Rue Du Petit-Champlain can be so touristy. But because of the centrally location for tourists like us, we decided to come here for lunch. Making reservation on line was so easy without the need for me to make an actual phone call. We were seated by the window. The table is small and the seats are tight. And you would think with a reservation, we might able to get a better table? We shared: Soupe du jour($ 5) Soup of the Day: Ginger Tout Lapin Tout Canard($ 67) Duck and Rabbit Duet Homemade rabbit«rillettes»($ 10) Rabbit is not something I eat often or something that serves in the restaurants I frequent in Toronto so this was quite a good experience for me. But I think I would sparse the life of rabbits as I found the meat just too dry and lean for my liking. I love the pâté and the duck confit! So Duck and Rabbit is a tie for the duet. Le Lapin Sauté is good if you are going to be town for half a day.

I went to Québec in late December, and this restaurant is probably one of the best restaurants I have been to ever been to in Canada. They have wonderful options on their«La Carte Classique et La Carte Découverte»(The Classic Menu and The Discovery Menu) ranging from their specialties — rabbit, to salads, and other types of meats! I highly recommend coming here! The Positives: 1. Our server was extremely dedicated to our comfort, and she was very efficient! 2. I ordered«La Côte de Porc»(Pork Chop) and it was tender and succulent! It came with a side of heaping potatoes, which were excellent and a side salad, which balanced out the nutrition on this marvellous dish! 3. The prices were good! For three people(including myself) it was around 70 $(including drinks, wine, and the tip!). 4. The restaurant itself was very quaint and cozy. They had a secluded outdoor terrace shaded by trees. In addition, the restaurant was located in this picturesque and charming alley way(Le Quartier Petit-Champlain), lined with decorative lights and stores. 5. The name of the restaurant is creative(it’s a pun :)). The Negative: 1. There is limited parking space down the alley, so finding a spot close-by might be difficult.(Unless you walk to the restaurant.) I highly recommend this restaurant. And I will come back again when I visit Canada again!

We tried to eat there on 2 separate occasions and this small casual restaurant was packed. Then it snowed a lot and we headed down to the Petite Champlain Quarter for brunch and almost had the place to ourselves. I think one dish alone earned this place 4 stars with us. The duck and rabbit special for 2. It had everything on it, it was perfect, I could eat that brunch every week all year long!

We ordered the dinner platter for two with rabbit and duck confit. This review might not be fair to this restaurant because I’m not a fan of eating rabbit but just wanted to try it because of the hype. For me personally, I didn’t like it the platter, it’s too dried… Like all the items are dried items and I got a little sick of it at the end, the pickles and the cheese was just too much. The soup of the day was pretty good at least. My recommendation is give it a try, you might like it or might not, I’m Asian so my taste is a little different but given all the good reviews, you can’t go wrong I think.

We spent one night in Quebec City and deciding where to dine was so hard given wonderful reviews of fine culinary establishments. I originally made a reservation elsewhere but as we explored the beautiful Christmas streets during the day, we saw this restaurant and decided by looks alone, this is where we wanted to have dinner. The outside is preciously decorated, giving a perfect ambiance for an old town«European» feeling restaurant. There are about 10 – 12 tables inside, warm and inviting. Service was lovely, very welcoming to non-French speaking customers(like us). The food… be still my heart… that food! We had hopped around to different pubs and had snacked/drank throughout the day so we were hungry but not starving. For appetizers we got the cheese fondue with honey butter and then the duck. For main course we shared the rabbit lasagna which is a must!!! It was my first time to try rabbit and I was blown away. End your meal with coffee and the maple crème brûlée!

What a lovely restaurant! We were in Quebec City on the tail end of our trip so we were starting to get sick of eating steak tartares and duck confits.(I know I know, #firstworldproblems.) Hence, a menu with rabbit on it actually sounded quite refreshing. I was worried the rabbit might not be cooked well, but we were pleasantly surprised. We ordered the casserole of rabbit and duck sausage, in which the rabbit was perfectly cooked, soft and juicy. There were only a few pieces of duck sausage, thankfully.(I promise I normally love duck!) The beans also balanced out the dish perfectly, still retaining the full flavor of the rabbit and delicious sauce. The ratatouille-style pasta was just the right dish to accompany the casserole. The vegetables in the ratatouille were lightly seasoned and not too salty. We weren’t the hugest fans of their chocolate fondant but their maple crème brûlée was impeccably done(thin & even caramelized layer) and extremely tasty! If the weather is nice, try to sit outside!(They also have heaters for cooler temps.) We only had to wait 20 minutes for our tables outside, and it’s totally worth it. There is so much entertainment in the nearby park. We were first serenaded by a fiddle player, then later a harp player we’d seen playing previously on Rue de Jean-Paul the day before haha. People are so joyful, clapping and dancing to the music. Literally the perfect spot to people-watch. An absolute must-eat in Québec City!

I just love this place. From the stone walls and friendly service to the locally-inspired, rabbit-centric menu and delicious mulled wine, I’m beyond tickled every time I enter and leave Le Lapin. There’s a reason this place boasts more than 200 reviews and 4.5 stars on Unilocal. Our most recent visit featured the following dishes: –cabbage and butternut squash soup(soup of the day — I could have slopped up a gallon) –fresh bread –mulled wine(on the sweeter side/approachable blend of spices –root vegetable salad with feta and balsamic glaze(fresh goat feta makes a world of difference — we couldn’t stop raving about this appetizer $ 8) –sugar pie with fresh berries and honey pie(of the two, I would go for the sugar pie with fresh berries — the texture was slightly fluffier and very flavorful — — may have some maple sugar in it?) Final tip: make reservations on the weekends or visit before the dinner rush. There is only seating for around 30 diners at a time.

I’m a sucker for rabbit. I hardly find it on any menus so when The wife suggested that we have brunch at Le Lapin Sauté I quickly agreed. I’ve never had Rabbit Rillette so I ordered that along with the Vin de Maison Rouge. The Rabbit Rillette was like a corned beef hash, but with rabbit instead of corned beef. It came with two eggs and potatoes fried with duck fat. I loved the Rillette, but I’d hop on a turn-around flight from Los Angeles just to have those duck fat fried potatoes again. Miam! The wife ordered the onion soup and chocolate chaud which was perfect for this cold October day. The wife and I both enjoyed the onion soup. The chocolate chaud was rich and chocolatey. The wife wishes she would have ordered a bowl of it instead of a cup. Lol The people watching from the patio is great. You can watch people walk along Rue du Petit Champlain, the oldest street in North America. If it’s cold, ask them for a table next to the heaters. Loved the food and atmosphere here.

Attention tourists! This is a tourist destination! AKA«tourist trap» Studies show that people are more likely to give positive reviews to places whilst they are on vacation. Statisticians have deduced that this is because people on vacation are actively trying to be positive and have a good time while on holiday, and this positivity is translated through their reviews as well. This is the only way I can excuse the exuberant fanaticism which seems to not only prop up this establishment, but continue to sustain this mediocre eatery. Located on the most picturesque of Quebec Streets, at the foot of a mountain which has an elevator which leads up to the finest hotel in the city. The quaint eatery has French country charm. I wish the food was as perfect as all the wonderful things that it passively has going for it. I had the Beer fortified Onion Soup with some highly promoted 1692 cheese as an up charge. In this shallow but oversized crock, were some meager slices of white bread…(I was hoping for crusty rustic euro bread. This was more akin to Wonder White) the cheese was sparse, the portion meager. The broth was flat. No flavor. We attempted to rescue this poor representation of comfort food by adding salt… Pepper… Anything. Alas it was mere brown water with mushy, long dead onions. When the waiter cleared the plate which was hardly touched, we asked him if it was vegetarian. He replied it was beef based… We informed him there was no flavor whatsoever. He brought it back to the kitchen. To our surprise, the chef agreed! The rabbit cassoulet and duck sausage arrived and again to our surprise… Was quite tasty… A good sized rabbit carcass, but puny sausage and scant portion of beans. We fought for every spoon full, as we were ravenous for sustenance. I get the feeling this is a place full of potential that has sadly relied on being perfectly located for a constant influx of tourists. With no need to meet any standards of consistency… As repeat business is not in their model. Each dish is hit or miss. And your patronage will be regarded with the intimacy of a revolving door. Bön appetite!

Magnificent. This place is so charming and the food is absolutely amazing! The staff is friendly and attentive, and the food speaks for itself. I order the maple glazed pork chop and it was cooked to perfection. It was served with seasoned roasted potatoes and field of greens. The combination of sweet and salty was pure genius! I absolutely loved this place I would definitely recommend it!

Honestly, the price was a little expensive but while considering its location, the food is delicious as it marked. The Rue Du Petit-Champlain was a fantastic street, so beautiful and always crowded with tourists. The restaurant was decorated well both exterior and interior, especially the patio was just next to one awesome small park. Really joyful while having dinner in the patio. My friend ordered the cut meat plate which including various kinds of food, rabbit, foie gras, smoked duck meat, wined onion, pickles, olives, sweet carrot and some other things. It served with baguette and ciabatta. Tasty but I preferred my choices! French onion soup and duck confit salad. Onion soup was hot and can taste the sweetness of onion, the salad was in a large portion. I love the smoked duck meat personally because it tasted so tender and flavorful. Although the restaurant was full of people, we were also treated nicely. If you really want to feel the Champlain street, it would be a nice place to go.

Tourist trap alert. I’ll skip to the chase. If you speak English, you will get worse service than your french speaking patrons. We noticed that we were getting a «I’m too good for you» vibe from our waitress. For example, we ordered a prix fixe meal which should come with an expresso/coffee. After our meal was finished, the waitress brought us our check. When questioned, she said that we didn’t «want» the coffee because we didn’t ask for it. LAME. As for the food, it was really bad as well. The french onion soup lacked any kind of depth and the rabbit was so dry I thought it was jerky. Well it wasn’t all bad, at least the legumes it came with were tasty. But other than that, major FAIL. I hope it was an off night because at the time of this review, it is rated at 4.5 stars. Maybe everyone was high. Head on over to Café St. Malo instead. No pretentious service and bad food there. 2 stars.

This restaurant is busy! We tried making reservations(last minute on our part) and we were not able to make reservations since they said they were full. We decided to stop by regardless and of course when we get there, there was a line up, and they said the wait would be an hour and a half for a table of 4. I did not want to wait that long. This was around dinner time(7ish) Regardless, we spontaneously decided to try again at an odd hour the next day. We went at 5 and were able to get a table right away. Pretty sweet! I’m glad we were able to try out this place. If you’re visiting Quebec City, I would definitely recommend going to this restaurant! My friend and I shared the duck + rabbit plate. So delicious! If there’s anything, you should get that. They explain everything on the plate to make sure you’re not eating anything well… not edible. There’s also the regular food: ie. pork, pasta for those people who are afraid of trying new food. The rabbit + duck plate is a huge recommendation though. Will definitely go back again if I happen to be in Quebec and would recommend it to others!

We throw around the term«food porn» these days with abandon these days. At least until you come across the real thing in person. We had the rabbit/duck confit platter for two. I won’t list all the ingredients — you can certainly get it off the website. Or take a look at my picture. We’ve actually graduated from food porn to food orgasm. Seriously folks, this place is unbelievable in terms ambience, quality and, presentation. It’s a do not miss if you’re in the city. I don’t know why we can’t get this in the US — maybe it is the lack of fresh ingredients. However, if we did, I might just OD. BTW– I believe the name translated means jumping rabbit. It jumped right into my mouth and my memory in a big way.

This was my first meal upon arriving in Quebec City, and what an amazing meal it was. If the rest of the meals on this trip were to be like this, I’d certainly found my new favorite place to visit. The restaurant is located right in the middle of Old Quebec. As you walk the old European style streets and hills, you’ll eventually come across this little gem. It’s a small restaurant that also has an outside deck for dining, which isn’t always easy to find in this area of town. I started out with a salad which was delicious. Topped with maple pears, goat cheese and bread, it was one of the best salads I’ve ever eaten. I then ordered the pulled pork sandwich which turned out to be phenomenal. The sauce was different than most bbq sauces that usually top a sandwich like this. It was more sweet and less bbq. The pork was cooked perfectly, making the whole dish outstanding. The sandwich is also topped with popcorn, which is about as interesting a sandwich topping I’ve ever seen… The service could not have been more spot on. The waiters went above and beyond to translate everything to English and the food came out in perfect time. I literally couldn’t have asked for more of a perfect dining experience. Food, service and location were all perfect. By far one of the best places in Quebec City and a must try.

A oublier totalement.
