I like the original bubble waffle here. You have to be patient to go here and you have to get past the really confusing line with people congregating in circular packs.

**Disclaimer: This review is for their bubble waffle only** Anytime I’m in Richmond, I stop by to get a matcha bubble waffle. It is the best bubble waffle I’ve tried everywhere except Asia. What makes their bubble waffle good? Taste: The green tea flavor really comes through, which is not the case for other bubble waffle places. I’ve also tried original(good) and black sesame(tasted strictly like sesame seeds — not what I expected, but not bad. I had the black sesame bbt flavor in mind). All are not overly sweetened. Texture: Crunchy on the outside, soft, moist and chewy on the inside. Freshness: Always made to order. This stand is one of the more popular ones in Aberdeen Center. I can always expect at least a 20 minute wait. I have yet to try their food because there’s so many delicious eats in Richmond, but will definitely give it a try when I’m up there for more than a weekend.

This is definitely my favorite bubble waffle /Hong Kong snack restaurant. The wait for food is a little long, which is understandable because of their popularity and number of customers. I ordered the rice rolls with shumai and curry fish balls, and their famous bubble waffle. They both taste just like the ones in Hong Kong! The portions were huge, and I love that I can get bubble waffle for just $ 1 when I order another menu item. Unlike other bubble waffle places, their bubble waffle is crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside, and never soggy! Will be back again when I’m in Richmond!

I have no idea how this place stays in business. Just stand and observe how they function. I waited 40+ minutes for 3 orders of bubble waffles, and it’s obvious they’re trying to make too many waffles too fast. The waffle iron doesn’t have enough time to get hot so they end up throwing away half of what they make, and you ending up eating Pam cooking spray without it setting(on the iron). Combine that, the cashier’s rude and seems to be the M.O. Of many in this food court.

This is the first I’ve been too and the one I’ve frequented. Their customizable noodles are generally great(better than average food court quality), with good deals if you combine it with drinks(great too) and bubble waffles(also great).

Great prices & customizable soup noodles with choice of many different broths/noodles/toppings for 7.50, plus you can add on a regular flavor bubble waffle for $ 1 with any soup noodle! I ordered the pumpkin and tomato fish soup base with rice noodles & fish/fish tofu — the broth was extremely good, tangy with tomato and rich, slightly creamy from the white fish and not fishy tasting at all. Delicious — I recommend trying it! Hint — don’t order cabbage as your topping because they all come sprinkled with some cooked napa cabbage.

Great place for a snack. Gai dan jai(egg/bubble waffles) were perfectly crispy on the outside, light, with just enough chewy goodness on the inside. It took a few min to make them fresh but it was totally worth it. It’s super cheap too.

I chose this place because this place has the longest line in a busy food court, which clearly says something. Indeed, the soup is delicious with decent portion. If you come to visit Aberdeen Mall, you surely do not want to miss it.

Not too busy today, waited about 10−15min for made to order noodle soup. Still can’t beat the combo deal here.

I like how you can create you own noodle dish by choosing the soup base, the type of noodle, and your choice of 2 toppings. You can upgrade this by getting a combo with a hot/cold drink and a choice of bubble waffles, hk waffles and deep fried chinese buns. This all comes up to $ 8.95. Pretty good value. I was never much of a food court diner, but this day I needed a quick bite before heading downtown. I got the laksa soup base with crystal noodles, beef brisket and slices of lamb. For the drink I got a coffee and milktea with a side of bubble waffles. The laksa tasted good. It was spicy, sour and creamy. They gave generous amount of noodles, meat and chinese cabbage. The only thing I disliked was that there was too much chinese cabbage. I much prefer the regular laksa with the bean sprouts. I didn’t get any of those here. The coffee and milktea drink was pretty good. I can taste the coffee and the milktea that was used to make it. Right amount of sugar content as well. The best part of this meal is the bubble waffle. It was crispy on the outside and soft with a bit of a chew on the inside. I will definitely come back to try the other menu items and get their bubble waffles, of course!

If you’re a waffle connoisseur, then pls come here. And not those silly flavours like Oreo lol. To me, the original is the best. Much crispier yet moist inside than nite market quality. The noodles soup just alright, ham is like spam but the fish pieces sure is bountiful. Great value for under $ 10. Pretty fast despite the lineups. Cleanliness wise, I like ‘em, a few workers wearing gloves. And one of the few to accept debit credit at this food court.

You know a place is good when the line is long all the time. Even though the bubble waffle doesn’t seem to be too fresh, the middle was still soft. The milk tea is really well made and taste is on point. All the drinks are really affordable too. Definitely recommend ^^

Sometimes when I’m walking around the mall, I get hungry. But not enough to order a whole meal and that’s why this became one of my faves. Great snack option & not too filling. Price is good & cheap unlike the usual night market pricings. Their snacks taste great and never disappoints!

Whenever I have a meeting in Richmond, I always end up going here for lunch! It’s delicious and such a good deal! I always get the Combo 2 which includes a hot or cold drink, either an original bubble waffle or hk style waffle(waffle with peanut butter and condensed milk), and a noodle soup with 2 toppings. All this for $ 8.35(includes tax!!) While not as big as deer garden, I feel like the quality is pretty similar! They have a WAY bigger selection of toppings though(they have lamb!!!) and there’s no extra charge for getting a cold drink like some other places. The combo is totally worth it because you get the bubble waffle, which on it’s own is already $ 3.95. If you go during the meal time rushed, the wait is pretty long — maybe 10 – 15 minutes? But honestly, I would say it takes that long if you’re sitting down at a restaurant anyways. Also, the bubble waffles are fresher when it’s busy — you’re more likely to get a pack where they’re actually warm. If you go during the off time, the waffles are premade so they aren’t warm anymore. But the overall texture is surprisingly not compromised! I love the waffles here because they’re crispy but still chewy and soft, also not too sweet but still has the correct flavour! I always get the original flavour when I come.

Not bad because they offer groupons quite often but the wait time is often CRAZY. Had the green tea bubble waffle, flavour very subtle but passable(this was at crystal mall btw). Original bubble waffles are pretty good as well! Noodles are cheaper here than other places but I prefer deer garden.

Judging by the constant lineups at this place no matter what time of day you know this is a favorite with people at this food fair. Their formula of custom made to order noodle soups, tasty sides, and low price combos($ 7 – 8) works. While I would say Deer Garden serves up better noodle soups you can’t fairly compare the two as one is a sit down restaurant while this is fast food(well, 5 – 10 minutes to make your food). Having said that I haven’t been disappointed yet with their noodle soups. The soup bases have enough depth and don’t taste MSG-like. The bubble waffles are good. I’d rate their curry fish balls as average. The do a pretty decent job at their drinks. My fav here is their cold Yin Yang(coffee and tea). Worth checking out if you’re at the food fair.

Best egg waffle ever. You can actually taste egg in the waffle and the texture has a slightly crunch exterior and a chewy inside. Other«gai dan jai» places I’ve been to just pale in comparison. You can find the Bubble Waffle stall in the Aberdeen mall food court. While this place does have an extensive menu with a kitchen in the back, there’s always someone manning the egg waffle station, crafting these gai dan jais to perfection.

The original bubble waffles here are generally really good. Just lacks the«served hot» factor seeing how the bubble waffles are pre made… So they tend to be a bit cold. The curry fish balls also pack quite the nice punch, but I feel like it just lacks a bit of sweetness that I tend to enjoy with my curry fish balls. Overall, not a bad place to grab a quick snack. I haven’t tried any of their lunch menu items yet, but everything is really reasonably priced for Richmond.

This is a good place to go if you’re in a rush, or don’t want to travel to Deer Garden or any alike restaurant. They primarily offer fish soup and bubble waffles. The fish soups here are good, but after 3 visits, I’m pretty sure they have MSG in them. Service is ok, they look very efficient but you might have to wait longer than 10 minutes. Bubble waffles are a good deal to add to your meal for $ 1.00 more and they’re tasty(I personally don’t like them that much but can see why people do — it is served warm with a crunchy exterior and a doughy soft interior). I wouldn’t recommend for or against, they’re alright. Oh! But I will say that their dry noodles are not very good, it’s basically instant ramen noodles with luncheon meat and a hot dog with really salty seasoning that is served moist, not dry. So exactly like if you were to boil your bag of instant noodles, and just poured the soup packet to stir with the noodles. Kind of gross, don’t get it!

OHBABY. These egg waffles are where it’s at! I figured it’s nearly impossible to come across authentic egg waffles, or «gai daan jai», here in the US. So, falling short of actually traveling to Hong Kong(where I first experienced these golden bubble sheets of fun deliciousness), I ventured across the border to satisfy my egg waffle fix. Gai daan jai is essentially a golden cake of miniature egg-shaped balls attached to each other like a piece of oversized bubble wrap. Despite a massive lunch, I couldn’t resist the sweet scent of egg batter radiating from Bubble Waffle. This small stand is located in a crowded food court in Aberdeen Centre. After impatiently waiting in line for some time(this place is busy busy), I reached the register and ordered the Egg Waffle Original. No fancy flavors or toppings, I wanted to taste the original in all of its glory and simplicity. Next, more waiting as I watched the employees pour batter into an assembly line of iron pans. Finally, after nearly 20 minutes of waiting, my gai daan jai was ready! The texture was perfect — crunchy around the edges with soft oval eggs. The innards remained light and fluffy but the shell was brittle. So crisp and flaky, soft and fluffy, delightful and addictive. The taste was spot-on with waves of vanilla essence. Yum! I didn’t have a chance to sample the other items at Bubble Waffle but I’m sold on their gai daan jai’s. I mean, it’s in their name so obviously this is their star player. Note: Despite having«waffle» in the name, it’s not eaten for breakfast. Weird, huh?
