5:30pm staff near E80 on September 2. Poor customer experience. Both cashiers provided poor customer service; so poor I had to write a Unilocal review to reward them for their extraordinary achievements in customer dissatisfaction. Neither cashier interested in serving customers, would rather work as slowly as possible and pass the buck in hopes customer would leave. Debit and credit only one says, and when you pull out a card the woman says oh no the other cashier will serve you soon. Not so fast though, as chatty cashier who does accept cash has decided to have a nice chat with current customer. Meanwhile, other cashier pretends to be busy, so I’m stuck with cashier number one, who in a state of ADHD helps a customer who isn’t even in the lineup, because hey, life’s not fair and I have every intention of keeping it that way! When you start wishing for a slow and painful death of endless button pressing with self checkout machines you know that staff have earned a poorly written Unilocal rant riddled with grammatical and spelling errors due to frustration. Well done dynamic duo of Hudson News.

Not a great experience. I went in to order a «tropical» smoothie and the server(who spoke very quietly and with a thick enough accent that I had to ask her to repeat herself a number of times). She said: «Oh the Tropical Smoothie is made with syrup, not real fruit. Do you still want it?» I thanked her and said, no, I’d prefer one with real fruit. So I ordered the strawberry-banana smoothie. Sure enough, she pumped syrup into that one too. So I stopped her and said«I thought it was only the Tropical one wasn’t real.» No, she said, they all were(which, of course, wasn’t what I’d inferred). It was too late and I ended up with it.(I suppose if I wanted to be a prick, I could have refused it.) It was good, but tasted more like sugary syrup than strawberries or bananas. Also ordered a large Americano and it was horribly weak.

Not a lot you can say bad or good about a place like this. I’ve never eaten at the café, but the news store always has the latest papers and snacks!

I had a late-evening flight last Saturday that was made all the later by a weather delay. As I got a sudden chocolate craving, I started searching this area of the international terminal for a tasty hot chocolate. After walking(and by walking I mean standing on those moving walkway platforms) around the area past many shuttered shops, it was apparent that Euro Café was my only option. I order the hot cocoa, with fingers crossed that because it was listed as «cocoa» I could anticipate a drink as delicious as I make as home. Unfortunately, it was just hot chocolate and a little on the cool side. The price($ 2.74) for a medium was not airport robbery. Euro Café also offers a full range of European coffees, some baked goods, and of course the standard airport conveniences of a typical news-agency-type shop. Service was lagging, but so was I as I counted out my dimes and nickels trying to dump as much change as possible before jetting off. Overall a greatly appreciated spot when all else is closed. But nothing too special or good for much more than a cuppa.

I am not a big fan of the E gates in the international terminal because there’s just not a lot over there. All the restaurants and shops are over at the D gates. All there is at the E gates is Hudson News and Euro Café. They sell magazines, books, coffee, and sandwiches. I almost always go out of my way over to the D gates to hit up the Starbucks before my early morning flights. I normally avoid Starbucks, so I guess this doesn’t speak well for what the Euro Café offers in the mornings.
