Beautiful pictures, at a reasonable price! I called Magenta to organize newborn photos for my second daughter. I chose Magenta because all of their photographers have professional training in photography, as opposed to self-described photographers who have a camera and a fancy website. I spoke to Jen on the phone and she ended up being the person who came to do the photos. She was absolutely professional in every interaction we had, and was so wonderful with my 2 ½ year old daughter, as well as my newborn daughter. Her photos are gorgeous– I like them more than the newborn photos I had done for my older daughter. I also really appreciate that Magenta sends a photographer to your house(or any other location that works), this was perfect with a newborn. I had a bit of trouble getting the photos online afterward, but she took the time to ensure that we got all the photos we wanted and were completely satisfied. I really appreciate that we weren’t obliged to buy a «package» and were able to purchase just the digital files, as that’s all I was looking for. The pricing was very reasonable and quality was amazing. I will definitely make sure we get all our family photos done with Magenta(and hopefully Jen!) and gladly recommend this company.

Had the opportunity to work with Jen in the past. She is wonderful, courteous & a professional. She took some exquisite shots and was very methodical in her work and delivered the results I was looking for. Highly recommend her if you’re looking to get some quality work done.

I saw this groupon just about the time I had decided to get a picture for my website. The deal was $ 35 for one picture — in fairness they put a lot of time in for that price. When I arrived the staff was very nice. I spent about a half an hour getting photos with a really nice photographer(he earned them an extra star). Unfortunately, out of the 30 or so photos I was shown, none were very good — in fact, they were pretty bad. Maybe I was having a bad picture day, but that was not helped by the lighting or angles of the photos. I ended up deciding to get pics retaken at a different studio. If I could do it again, I wouldn’t spend the time going here.

I was stunned how bad their passport photos are. Overexposed. Tried to convince me that a smile in kid’s passport photo is acceptable(on what planet?)…by far the worst photos ever taken. I guess they just don’t care about quality when it comes to passport photos. Service was pathetic as well.

I have to say I love Magenta. We’ve used them numerous times with various coupons. The first time I took my parents to get their first couple photo ever — they are in their mid-70’s. The photographer was fun, teased them a little. We got some adorable, non-traditional shots which is nothing short of a miracle since my dad hates having his photo taken. The second time we took my in-laws. They are in their late 70’s and Dad’s had a stroke. He was a little brittle until I asked if there was any music like Frank Sinatra or Tony Bennett. The photographer had her personal ipod with music that was perfect. The music relaxed dad and we got some very touching and intimate photos. Then hubby & I went. We had a blast. We took our own music, we danced, we had tickle fights, we changed our clothes from relaxed to formal. We also got some great shots. Two of our adult kids used magenta on my recommendation to get portraits done to give us for Christmas. They are perfect! The kid’s personalities are totally front and centre! Certainly not the classic stuffy straight-backed poses we would get in so many other studios. The studios are a little on the small side, so I’m not sure how well they would work for larger groups. I will certainly use magenta again!

My husband loves to take pictures and knows a lot about it, but he is a perfectionist and it takes him years to pick the best shots for printing, so I purchased a LivingSocial deal — a 45-min family portrait session plus three printed sheets of a chosen picture. The girls were very friendly and supportive, some of the shots were very interesting from the composition viewpoint, but many were just fine from the quality point of view(not sharp enough, lighting not interesting, etc.). I probably expected too much(you always want to get what you see in their galleries and commercials), and my husband definitely expected even more. Four stars for being not too bad.
