I went to this restaurant with one other person, on a monday night. as it is the start of the work week. the restaurant was not too busy. This restaurant one of the many in Scarborough in northern style Chinese BBQ, so unlike traditional Cantonese style with the sweet and salty flavor that is dominant. The northern style is more spicy and savory. The things that are must try for any bbq restaurant is of course the BBQ Lamb Skewers., i ordered those as well as the BBQ spicy pork rib, Chicken Gizzard, and Mussels. The BBQ meat at this restaurant is pretty good, the meat is tender and just write, and the spicy pork ribs is very different then most available in toronto, and is definitely recommended. I do enjoy spicy, however i would suggest those who cannot take spicy to be careful as this restaurant has a stronger spice then others. The Mussels for this restuarants is not bad however i would suggest for more then 2 people you need definetely a bigger portion cause it is very small meat and you will finish it quickly. The vegetable we ordered the spicy and sour shredded potato, has a good wok flavour, however i find the spicyness is too overpowering and not much sour flavour into it. The service in this place is not bad they were very efficient with the food, and the water. overall i find that although the flavour was not bad, and most dishes they cook pretty wel, they do seem to favour a heavier flavour then most other bbq restaurants, which for some people and i know a few who commented throughout this restaurant is the one thing they prefer them to do less of. i would go again to this restuarant of course

The lamb BBQ tastes more like what you would have in China, other BBQ dishes e.g. BBQ fish are good too.

One Plus One BBQ has replaced the old Oriental Gourmet restaurant that had occupied this spot in the past. The restaurant is still rather new. The place on the inside doesn’t change much at all. However, the menu is no longer Chiu Chow and focuses on some Northern staples and they have a grilled fish specialty, much like the recent Grilled Fish Chalet down the road. We ordered the Grilled Fish Special posted on the wall($ 14.95), chinese cabbage($ 4), and sliced duck with glass noodles($ 7.95). The Grilled Fish comes on a hot plate and is brought out with a tabletop burner. I found the fish to be definitely more meatier than the fish served over at Grilled Fish Chalet(along with being cheaper). The taste was relatively the same. Served in a spicy broth with a combination of peppers, fungi, sprouts, chilis, and glass noodles. The fish was tender, flaky, and the portion size was definitely a good meal for 2. The Sliced duck with glass noodles was a subpar dish. Didn’t really like it all. The sliced duck portion was miniscule as I didn’t come across too many pieces. The glass noodle never worked out very well as the sauce thickened too quickly and the noodles clumped badly together. The bbq cabbage was great as they threw on quite a bit of spices to add to the crunchy and sweet cabbage taste. Definitely will be back to have more fish. If you really enjoy having the fish on a hot plate like Northern Chinese people do, I would opt to come here over the other place. The service was friendly and the prices are a bit cheaper as well. I recommend coming out and supporting some smaller restaurants. I’m sure this place will only get better. P. S. For the time being, it is CASHONLY. P. S.S. Free Wifi
