A high level of service and a great haircut. Very impressive.

One of the best haircuts I’ve had. Well worth the price. Meticulous attention to detail, laser straight lines, great use of clippers, scissors and razors. Hard to find places that are willing to spend the time to do it properly. By comparison there’s a barber in FCP that’s the same price for way less quality, you’re in and out in no time and the barbers don’t listen to what is asked of them.

One of the better and more underrated men’s salons in Toronto. Tucked away on the lower level of the Royal York Hotel, this is the place you go when you want a quality cut by professional barbers who will give you a classic, upper-scale barber experience. Heated towels, warm shaving cream, straight-blade shaves, and so on. The staff here are all well-trained and experienced, and provide outstanding service for a reasonable price($ 30 for a men’s cut). Highly recommended.

After coming recommended by the hotel I went in for a trim and shave. I set the line where I wanted the beard and after trimming me with a #2 the guy had not paid attention and gave me a bald line straight down the middle of my neck. Stopped him got pissed and he told me that he was just blending my beard. I asked where he thinks I wanted the line he said well under your chin of course. Not. Not paying attention. No manager on site and no one to fix it. This place is in the fairmont. Should be in a motel 6. Terrible customer service and terrible vibe. Fairmont associated business should be better.

Another week has passed and no one has called us on the infection my husband got on his scalp. Time to report it to Toronto Heath Services.

Probably the best hair cut I have ever had. I needed a quick hair cut during lunch and dropped by without an appointment. Donny saw me right away and asked what I wanted, suggested a few things and went about cutting my hair. He cut and styled it exactly as promised and finished off with a close shave on my neck and sideburns, followed by a quick blast of aftershave and off I went — all or $ 29. Best of all, there was not a single stray hair left on my shirt once he was done. I will be back soon for sure. Five stars for The Men’s Salon and Donny’s superb hair cut! True old school service at reasonable prices.

My girlfriend noticed my hair was starting to get so puffy that I could have smuggled drugs, rare animals, and bootleg VHS videos in it(I have a sweet copy of «Jack Reacher» for cheap if you don’t mind the sound of the guy next to me crunching on popcorn for most of the forgettable 2nd act). Since it was my birthday, she bought me the incredible gift of a haircut + facial at the Royal York — I was so pumped. After a couple weeks of power outages, booking, cancelling and re-booking, I finally got my appointment in today, and I must say I was blown away and not just by a hairdryer. I came bearing an even puffier hairdo(around 3VHS tapes worth of height) and a haircut-to-emulate pic of my second favourite member of Take That, Gary Barlow. I showed it to my barber Tony, and he got to work. The haircut looks great, but what really made me feel like a king was the amount of care Tony took to make sure I got the full treatment. He asked me if I wanted to go shorter(which I did, and he obliged happily), straight-razor’d my neck and sideburns with attention to perfect symmetry(I think I caught him silently debating whipping out a protractor), and handled every single millimetre of hair he could. Probably TMI, but his scissors definitely made a quick side trip inside my ears. Between haircut and facial, he strapped on a vibrating Nintento powerglove(I’m serious) and massaged my shoulders and neck. Then leaned me back, and applied steadily-increasing-in-heat towels, as if performing the opposite of gently dipping my feet into a hot tub. Then I received peels, exfoliates, more hot towels, a powerglove-assisted face massage, more hot towels, and finally he perfumed me up, brushed me off and sent me on my merry clean-cut way. The best part: looking at my shirt now, I can’t find even a single errant hair attached to my person, waiting to itch the heck out of me later. I cut my own hair generally, so it’s possible that I’m appreciating the very act of having someone else do it way too much. Not only was this one the best gifts I’ve received, but I can not imagine getting it done anywhere else, by anyone else, ever again. Go here. Try the facial. Treat Yoself.

I walked by this shop for years but never tried it. I finally decided to give it a try since the shop is conveniently located in the Financial district and I desperately needed a cut. I had a great experience and loved my haircut. Cuts are $ 30 which is the norm for downtown. I walked into the shop(located in the Royal York hotel) and was greeted immediately. They took my jacket and hung it up and guided me to a chair. The barber was so efficient and fast and followed my request perfectly. They got all the little details right. After the cut, they applied a heated towel to my head which felt fantastic. They also go the extra mile to make sure they don’t leave those annoying stray hairs around your neck and down your shirt. I’m happy to say this was my first haircut where this didn’t happen. I was very satisfied with my cut and will be back monthly. BK

I was a walk– in and they treated me like royalty. $ 29 for an excellent cut, as I asked, by a thorough professional. Added value was a head and shoulder massage. Great value. Basement of the Royal York connection to Union Station.

From the suspender clad gentleman wielding the scissors to the shoe shine service to the right as you walk in, it’s almost surreal what a blast from the past this place is. In a completely good way. All walks of life, ages come thru the door for the haircut to the shave and shoeshine. The place advertises itself as the oldest operating barber shop in Toronto since 1929, by proprietor Armando Costentino. I don’t think it’s a stretch to say they know what they’re doing here, and they didn’t appreciate my two cents on how to cut my mans’ hair. I shut up, they did a magnificent job. Enough said.
