I discovered this zumba class through a google search of fitness classes in Toronto. Since the place was only a short walk away from my office and the package prices were pretty competitive(4 classes @ $ 39.55) I thought I should definitely check this place out. The dance studio is just above the Tim Hortons in a sketchy part of town. There is a doorbell on the side of the door so someone will have to buzz you in to get into the studio. There are change rooms & washrooms available but no showers or lockers. The instructor, Serena, uses 2 studios for each class, one room is significantly smaller than the other. On Tuesdays and Thursdays she offers regular zumba dance classes. There are fewer people on Tuesday classes so if you are looking for a more«intimate» experience this is the class to go to. The smaller room is used on these days. If the class does get unusually full the space can be a little tight but it is still comfortable to move around. The bigger room is used for classes scheduled on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Wednesday classes are specific to toning where the use of hand weights is incorporated with zumba dance moves. This technique is beneficial for those that want to work and tone their arm muscles(like me!). Thursdays are regular zumba classes but include more people and also in the big room. All classes end with light stretching. Overall, I think this is a great zumba class and I would recommend it to others that are in search for this type of exercise. Serena is an awesome instructor! She is very enthusiastic about dance and really knows how to bring the energy level up in the class. She really gets you motivated to move and challenges you to push yourself. She also has great song selections and excellent choreography that works all parts of your body. Even if you have little or no dance experience or if you are an awkward dancer like myself it’s really easy to pick up the moves and work up a sweat. Great class and great instructor!
