Came here for a quick bite with the in-laws after our flight into Vancouver. Some of the worst sandwiches I’ve ever had in my life. We all ordered the veggie sandwiches and the guy didn’t even add cheese to it. Just put in a piece of cucumber and lettuce. The sands in San Francisco are a billion times better. This guy didn’t even try. $ 8 for two pieces of bread with lettuce? I don’t think so. It’s a one man shop with no one anywhere to be found on a Friday during lunch. –Hungry Hungry Pongy

I know it’s just a sandwich place, but boy, that Monte Cristo sandwich is the absolute bomb! Nicely grilled panini-style but still the square-shaped bread but just that combination of ham, turkey, tomato, edam cheese, mustard & fresh onions(optional), an assortment of all the right juices… perfect texture when biting into this… a soft crunch… it’s hard to explain. You kind of wonder after each bite how can it taste so fabulous compared to other sandwiches… and keep on eating… It’s upstairs in the Robson Market, right off Cardero st. cash only.

Located on the upstairs of the Robson Market, this little Deli has been in business for 20 years(!!) at that location and it’s easy to see why he’s still there. I ordered the soup and sandwich combo. The soup, which was«Cream of Mushroom Chicken» was a bit too cluttered, as there were lots of vegetables along with the mushroom and(I guess) chicken. That was dissapointing, but the sandwich I got, their version of Monte Cristo(even though it wasnt a true version of the sandwich) was really outstanding. Ham and Turkey with Onion and Cream cheese, All toasted on bread, and served with a side of Barbecue chips(!!) was really really tasty and hit the spot. It’s making me hungry just thinking about it. Well worth coming here for their sandwiches.
