Today February 72016 I yet again attempted to give this this so called business yet another chance. Yet again when I asked for a certain kind of meat this time flank steak. I was abruptly told if it isn’t in the display we haven’t got it. Why do you call you self gourmet meats when you don’t have basic meats like ribs Veal chops T bones Now flank steaks. and every time the customer asks they are told those are speciality cuts of meat and we need to order them in. Sound like a load of BS form a poorly operated Butcher Shop. I was yet again met by a very hostile and belligerent staff member seems to be the norm at this place.(Do Not Complain They will treat you like crap) Today I merely let him know that on the last 4 times I have tried to give them business it has always been the same response. and that it is getting tiring trying to give them business when they don’t even carry the basic cuts of meats. Today the so called staff member become violently and aggressively conformational to The point he was chasing us down the street after we left his store threatening us and screaming at us. this Business is a joke to say the least I suggest that everyone stay far far away and boycott this business at all costs. I have been able to find these so called speciality cuts at the local grocer whom is not a GOURMETMEATSSTORE

Great prices and quality meats! I recommend the Sweet Bourbon New York steaks and the stuffed pork. The stuffed potatoes are great too.

Nope, never again. Went on the recommendation of a friend, I travelled out of my way. I asked for pork I could make schnitzel out of and they directed me to the loins(as expected) and said they would butterfly them, and pound them out. Even asked what thickness I wanted. And then said it would take about 20 or 30 minutes. So I left and came back after half an hour… The next day, when I open the package just before dinner(ready to bread it and the fryer is hot and the guests are eagerly waiting) I discover it’s NOT pounded out and the butterfly is reversed so that the silverskin and fat layer on the outside of the loin now run down the middle of the butterflied sections… so I can’t trim it off without ending up with ½ size pieces of pork(to pound out). I am sticking to my usual butcher. Very, very disappointed.

This is a great little neighbourhood butcher shop with a helpful, friendly staff. The prices are a tad high, but that’s because the quality is very good. I always order my Thanksgiving turkey from this place and drop by when I need chicken, pork and beef as well. The selection is limited, but, they have a good variety of sausages, salami and cold cuts, as well as frozen foods like meat pies. I like that I can call ahead and order a few things which are always waiting for me when I arrive.

The meat here is great as is most of their other produce. Thing is though, that I find the staff seriously unfriendly and that is kind of a turn-off. If I go to a place once or twice a week for over a year then I don’t think it’s too much of me to expect a friendly ‘Hi there’.instead of a blank look as if they have never seen me before. it is called customer service! Maybe it isn’t a nice place to work and I find that kind of a turn-off too.

Alright, I’m big in customer service. This place could use more friendly staff, maybe a smile or so. Most of the pieces of meat are pre-cut so you can’t really get two and half pound of steak for instance. Being fresh, local, and organic is a big plus for any butcher’s shop.

I bought their jerk chicken last night and cooked it when I got home. it was perfect! I was shocked at how cheap it was too. I’m heading back to buy more today for tonight’s dinner!

I love this place! Great quality, great service, great price! Hands down my #1 go to when I need dinner quick! The free range rotisserie chicken goes quick, so call ahead and reserve one; it’s delicious! If you can’t, don’t worry they have all sorts of wonderful other goodies to choose from! These guys have saved this busy mom on more than one occasion!

Easily the best pulled pork sandwich in the city. The quality of the meat is also outstanding — why would anyone ever go to a supermarket to get meat when this is available?

Love the free-range chicken, and the eggs aren’t bad too. Friendly staff, I just wish they carried grass-finished beef.

I love Tango’s and I love to support a place like this. Their meat is not overpriced at all. Affordable! Free run chicken taste so good. Pork has very clean taste and it gets very tender when cooked. Their sausage is so juicy and has clean after taste. People who work there are friendly.

If your looking for meat on the west end of Vancouver this is the place to go! I have to admit I walked by this place a few times and didn’t even notice it was there but don’t be put off by the shops size. I have been by there 5 or 6 times mostly for steaks and sandwich meats, which were all of excellent quality. There is also a great selection of unique meats that are mentioned in previous posts. The first time I walked in I was greeted by friendly an knowledgeable staff who informed me that they have been operating at this location for about 10 years. It kind of feels like walking into a friends shop even though I hadn’t met the staff before. I am very particular about cleanliness and I was very satisfied with what i saw. Very GOOD prices, GOOD selection and GOOD vibes. Hands down I will be supporting this business over the major supermarkets when it comes to meat.

I found this place after a morning soccer lesson for my baby(he’s 2 but he’s my babe). We happened to park right in front and I have read the reviews of this place but missed it every time I walked by. It is a little shop and for some reason on this early morning, I noticed the sign. I headed in with my husband and my baby in tow. I wasn’t looking for anything specific but wanted to give it a quick look after reading all the good reviews. They had variety of cheese, meat and deli meat. They also have choices of sauces and condiments as well. I bought myself a white wine vinegar. My storage is stocked with all different vinegars and this one will add nicely to the collection. I am sure I will be needing it in the future. We bought some salami and hot pepperoni sticks as our snack. Will have to come back again when I am in need of some good meat.

I love this place! We went here to find a free range, hormone free turkey for American thanksgiving. They were all too big for us, so the owner sold us 2 chickens instead(they were very reasonably priced for free-range!). He was very friendly and chatty. He also remembered us when we came in again, and actually asked how the birds had turned out! They also have free range eggs and and a bunch of other meaty stuff there for much cheaper than Whole foods. I just bought some ostrich burgers there too, pretty excited to see how they turn out. I wanted to sample the kangaroo too(they’re a pest in Aussieland, and supposedly the meat is very healthy) but the significant other was horrified at the thought of eating Kangaroo Jack.

I went in to ask about pork belly and bones for stock. I received a curt ‘no’ and a smirk. I won’t bother coming in again.

I like my meat two ways and two ways only:(1) fresh(read: local), and(2) organic. Bonus points if it’s affordable. Enter Tango’s: a slightly unassuming little mom n’ pop meat shop in the west end. High quality cuts of viande sold by nice people who genuinely seem to care for their job *and* for what they do means that I am a happy customer when I leave the store. It also means that I’d much rather lay down the scrilla here than wander a few blocks up to Capers(now known as Whole Foods, which I flat-out refuse to call it for fear of it stopping me from ever stepping foot in the store again. But I digress) for my hormone-free boeuf. Deli meats and marinated skewers for when I feel lazy, roasted chickens for those who like le bird, kangaroo and buffalo for those who dare, combo packs for the uninspired — Tango’s gotcho’ back. Also: online orders PLUS delivery. Not that I’ve taken advantage of either of these perks, but the fact that they exist makes me feel like I sort of live in the age of milkmen and apple pies on windowsills.

What’s not to Love about this little Gourmet Meat Market? The selection is vast and most Grill items are already marinated. Prices seem really fair considering Whole Foods(Caper’s or Whole Paycheck) around the corner. We purchased several items to BBQ tonight at our friends Lanai(Patio) and are excited to try some of the delicacies after they’re cooked.

OK, anyone who cooks meat at home should be buying it here. Plain and simple. They locally source as much of their products as possible, the quality is high and the prices are affordable. I have been shopping here for about 5 years and they are super consistent. You can also pre-order specialty meats for the holidays or really any time. Their roasted chicken is a great option and much cheaper than Whole Foods. If you can’t find what you’re looking for fresh, odds are there is some frozen. I also ask for chicken bones to make stock and usually get a few pounds worth for 3 $. Support local small businesses, eat high quality meats and cheeses and save money! Who can ask for more?

I have never noticed this little butcher right across from the library. A pretty good selection of all things meat. Deli, prepared dishes, eggs… The friendly staff didn’t hesitate to answer my question about quail eggs and recommend another store to find them at. I shall return the next time I am in need of something for the BBQ.
