I have been to this place for a total of four times. The first time was when it first opened. I went with my brother and my niece who was three years old. We got out three minutes after without ordering anything because the waitress’ dress attire was, well, not the best for three year olds. The second time I went was totally an accident. I was hungry for bubble tea and couldn’t find a decent place in Kerrisdale(Tea Well closed long ago, and Orange Corner does not make the best milk tea). The price here is a bit high for bubble tea, but I found the drink to be quite awesome. So I decided that I would come again for food. A couple months ago, I came here with my mother for food. We got the Taiwanese meal combos(I don’t remember which). The portions were quite large, and the taste was not bad. My mom enjoyed it very much. Then last week, I came all by myself for food. I arrived at around 4:30. There were around 2 other groups in the restaurant, so it was not hard to tell that they were not busy. I ordered a pudding and a sweet and sour fish combo. A group came about 10 minutes after I arrived, and they ordered the pudding too. Surprisingly, they got the pudding FIRST. Mine came around 10 minutes after theirs. The food came around 35 min after I ordered it. Whenever I asked when my food is coming, the waitress just said«it is in the making». The service was okay before, but last time it was definitely NG. Food is okay overall. Judge for yourselves.

It was Cabin 555BBT/Taiwanese restaurant at this location and now is Chu’s Café. I found Chu’s café are great and much better than Cabin 555. It newly renovated, it looks more modern and fancy booths inside. It pretty comfortable than other BBT. The food was excellent and not much MSG. The portion was perfect and quality over quantity. However, the service was average. Mango slush — Huge and full mango flavour Popcorn chicken — very crispy and tasty Deep fried tofu — soft and smooth inside Preserved veggie with fatty pork belly — well balance flavour but pork belly too fatty Beef noodles — so tender and delicious. We definitely will go back and try other dishes.

Went there today as a friend recommended me to. Was impressed by the deco, but it’s really hard to breath in the restaurant maybe they dont have their AC on. VERY slow service, My gf and I almost waited 30 mins for just 2 bowls of noodles. Compared to the other Taiwanese food restaurants, this place is more expensive than the others in Vancouver, portion of the food are just okay, nothing special worth mentioning to the food either After all, I will never go back again myself unless I have to. ULTRA slow service, so so food, and no air flow.

* Decent value Taiwanese for Vancouver West * Gone are the football player style waiters of Cabin 5555( ) as the place has rebranded(change of owners perhaps?) as Chu’s Café. They redid the décor — with touches that are not to my personal liking at all. Pink and silver shiny upholstered seats and booths? Fake crystals built into the seat buttons? Poster of a lipstick kiss(I guess that makes sense with the name, right?)? Not to my liking, but perhaps good for their primary target market. But I’m not one to be too concerned with the surroundings, and care more about the food… So on to the food! They had a special going called the«Valentine special» where you get your choice of any of their combo meals, a shaken black iced tea, and a slice of cheesecake all for a very reasonable $ 9.99. I ordered the tendon and eggplant pot. The sauce had a good dose of black pepper bathing a generous portion of gelatinous tendon that was cooked perfectly. I love a good tendon, when prepared properly, and this was a very pleasant surprise. The eggplant in the dish was also the perfect consistency and added a pleasant sweetness to the dish. A nice surprise was that there were a few extremely tender chunks of beef shank buried deep in the pot as well — bonus! This was a very well balanced, comforting, and filling pot. I really enjoyed it. Photo: The complimentary sides were sauteed garlic cabbage(uneventful, but good), black pepper edamame(a nice flavour on the outside to compliment the nicely prepared inside), and egg with tomato sauce(my least favourite as the sauce was a bit commercial tasting). Photo: The rice was nicely cooked, and topped with decorative black sesame seeds: The shaken black tea had a nice froth and was brewed strong. They didn’t add any sweetness to it — which I appreciated. I imagine they would if you asked. Photo: The mocha cheesecake was frozen solid. I mean hard as a rock. It had the consistency of an ice cream cake. Don’t know if they were going for that or not, but it was a bit amusing to me. If they called it cheescake flavoured ice cream cake it would have made a bit more sense. But it was still refreshing if I didn’t think of it as cheesecake! Photo: So to sum things up, for a very reasonable $ 9.99 for all of that this spot provided really good value, with one particular dish knocking it out of the park(sports reference in homage to the previous football nature of this location!) — the tendon eggplant pot. Considering this isn’t a part of town known for its Taiwanese food options, this is a welcome addition to the area.

I go there because of a friend’s recommendation & saw the ad in Klip magazine. This Taiwanese bubble tea café is pretty unique & modern. I like it a lot: from the location, deco, to the server, the menu & the food and the price is very good. It would be perfect if the name is a little… and now is kinda… You know what I mean!

It’s just not as good as when it was Cabin 5555. The beef noodle was very spicey and there was no option to have it less spicey as Cabin 5555 had offered.
