Connoisseur’s Coffee is one of those great all day cafes that will serve you a light meal no matter the hour. They really advertise their bibimbap but I suspect most folks come for just a sandwich at lunch time. Two different folks asked for the whole roast turkey sandwich while I waited. The owners told me its their most popular dish. I ordered the bibimbap on brown rice and just kept saying yes when asked if I wanted this or that topping. Total for take out bibimbap was about $ 8.50. Feels very nutritious and undeniably tasty!

I work very close by to this place and I’ve had a few of their baked goods in the morning(cheese scones, yum!) as well as their soups & sandwiches at lunch. The service is great(they don’t all speak fluent English, but I’ve never had an issue) and the food is good. Nothing fancy or overly expensive — you can expect to pay about $ 7 – 8 for a soup & sandwich combo — and it’s very quick. Their multigrain bread is super fresh — I always get this one so I can’t vouch for other varieties. They have ready-made sandwiches and a few salads, but they mostly make the sandwiches to order. I’m not a coffee drinker, so I can’t comment on the quality of their brew. All in all, it’s a good place to get a quick bite without breaking the bank. If you’re looking for more gourmet sandwich offerings, you can always check out the European Deli in Royal Centre next door.

Based on a tip from Ada L., I decided to come here and try their avocado and bacon sandwich. Parking is available on the street when it’s not rush hour. Otherwise there’s a(super expensive) parkade at Bentall Centre nearby. The staff consist of a couple of friendly Koreans. Not sure if they’re a mom and pop deal but it’s definitely possible. The food didn’t look too fresh, but I can’t be sure. All I know is that it’s not the busiest place. I sat there during lunch hour and they had maybe 10 customers. Finding a seat here is no problem at all. In fact, we had the place to ourselves. As for the sandwich? It’s actually pretty good. Then again, I’m a fan of both avocado and bacon so you could’ve mushed them into a bowl and covered them with strawberry jam and I still would’ve eaten it. With that said, I’m never a fan of paying $ 6 for *just* a sandwich. It didn’t come with fries or salad. Nothing. Anyways, hopefully more people know this place exists.
