The most BORING Indian food I’ve ever had, flavour wise, and pretty terrible service. I went because a client of mine gave me some gift cards to this place. There was no lineup when I arrived, and when I came up to the counter, the woman working there was on her phone and actually left the front and disappeared in the back for almost 5 minutes. I moved over so I could peer into the back, and she looked at me and turned away and went to the side, out of sight. I wanted to leave at this point, but I came specifically for this food. She finally came out, didn’t say anything except to ask what I wanted. She put the food together, and rang me in. I told her I had gift cards. She took them, asked me what they were(after I had just told her), and had to ask the woman in the back to come out and deal with it. The other woman took the cards and proceeded to rummage around in a plastic bag for a couple of minutes, while the first girl helped out someone else that had lined up. Turns out, the woman was looking for the machine that would tell her how much money was on the cards. When she finally figured it out, she came up to me and said there was $ 20 total, and I said ok. She kinda just stared at me, so I said that I wanted to pay for the food. So she rang it in, gave me the total(just under $ 15), and then said again that the cards have $ 20. I said ok, fine, I know. She kept looking at me, and eventually said, so there’s $ 5 left on the card. I said Yeah? I don’t know what you’re trying to say. And she said do you want it or… … It finally dawned on me: Omg, she didn’t want to give me the remaining amount on the card. She actually wanted to keep $ 5 on a takeout $ 15 order. Seriously? After all that? I was so irritated by that time, and had to go, I just said to keep it. I really wish I didn’t have any more gift cards left, because I don’t want to go back. Nothing about it was worth it, even the fact that I didn’t have to pay for it. And I wish I’d asked for the remaining amount because the food was so bland. Oh, and the naan bread came from a plastic bag and was heated on a flat grill. I could go to Safeway and do that at home. The only positive side was the veggie samosas, the big and mini ones. Though, I highly doubt those are made by them either, just like the bread.

This place is a fast-food stall located within the food fair at Granville Island market, so don’t go looking for a restaurant. That said, if you’re looking for quick Indian food, this is a great pick. Good assortment of dishes, including several vegan options. Everything was delicious that I tried. Very affordable prices. Worth trying.

This was probably among the worst Indian food I have ever had. The butter chicken was bland and watery. The rice was bland. Clearly aimed at tourists without any tastebuds. The vegetables were not quite as bad but nothing special. The lassi was OK. The price would have been OK if the food was better. Don’t be afraid to add some flavor! I love Indian food and this actually made me not want to eat it at all for a while.

Got the three dish combo. Potatoes were lackluster, chick peas were cold, and the naan wasn’t naan but some other flatbread. Lentils were good.

We wanted to get some food but since we are a little picky about Indian food we wanted to sample something to decide which two items we would get. My husband asked to sample the butter chicken and when he asked the woman she rolled her eyes and scooped up some curry and without looking at him gave him the spoon. While she was looking away holding the spoon out to him she dripped on the counter. This made her attitude even worse. At that point I decided we couldn’t patronize a place that treated us that way. Too bad because the butter chicken was good! It had a lot of flavor and we really wanted to try it. Hope they can improve their customer service.

The curry was okay, nothing to write home about but cheap and gluten free. The taste was just lacking.

Tiffin Thursdays! I don’t like getting the naan and rice, so to fill 4 tiffins the lady charged us for ‘2 meals’… am I still getting a deal this way? Hm, not sure. She filled each about 2⁄3 of the way, because she said«That’s the amount they give if it were part of a meal». About $ 12 total. The butter chicken was surprisingly not all sauce! They do charge an extra $ 1.90-something for it. It’s not amazing. The mushroom curry is really good, and the yogurt-cauliflower one was ok. I would avoid the lentils… boring and not a lot going on.

Get the Tiffin, for $ 12.81 you can choose from 2 options and it includes Naan and rice. After that all meals run about $ 8.00 or $ 9.75 if you choose butter chicken. Except for on Thursdays where you meal is only $ 5.25 A great deal especially if you are tightening your belt. They choices are chicken, lamb, vegetarian curries, masala, lentils, pokoras and mini-samosas.

What: Butter chicken, cauliflower and peas and rice. Good: The service was good, and I like how you can get one of the plates and return it. Reduce, reuse! The cauliflower and peas were delicious, especially topped with hot sauce. Meh: I really didn’t think the butter chicken was that good, and they charge you extra for it. What’s up with that? The chicken seemed chewy — like it had been simmering too long, and the sauce didn’t have much flavor at all, let alone any sort of spice. I ended up paying about $ 10 bucks for a 2 item plate that didn’t have much chicken and was 75% rice. Skip.

Good food. Look for their daily specials. However the specials are often it is 75% rice with a scoop and a bit of actual curry. Perhaps it may be worth paying for the regular priced meal unless the rice to curry proportions are the same! The vegetable lentil is simple and tasty. Not too spicy and nice and hot!

Been a few times. The food is pretty good, especially the chana. Unfortunately the last time I visited, the guy working the counter was a very unpleasant person. Kind of ruined lunch. Probably won’t go back for a while. Best to go in slower times, otherwise it’s a real mad house in that area of the market.

It seems the quality of food @ Granville Island Public Market has been declining over the years… I think it used to be Indian owners but now it’s Chinese guys cooking & manning the register these days ? I don’t mean to be racist about cooking food, but their version of Indian curry tastes very watered down and barely curry at all Seriously tiny tiny portions for the price — they are very cheap about their curry … One scoop of butter chicken curry(which is mostly water, totally runny and not thick or curry-ish at all) and charge you ~ $ 8 for it ? Granville Island is one of the top destinations for weekend outing … and I think they rely too much on the fact that they will always have customers no matter how crappy their food is or how much they charge for it I didn’t give them one star because their food isn’t disgusting or horrifying(for which I save the 1 star reviews) but they are just above them.

For fast food curry, this place is good. My work has a couple Tiffen’s for us to use, so if you bring your own you get a choice of 2 curries with rice and a little naan for $ 6, or $ 5 on Thursdays. It is a huge meal too. I actually share it with a friend and it’s perfect. There baby samosas are a tasty treat. They do have other specials on different days that are appealing as well.

The Indian vendor at Granville Island Public Market. Its not fancy but you’ll get basic Indian food at their food court. I got a three item dish with rice and a piece of naan for about $ 8.50. They had a beef curry dish, lentil dish and a veggie dish all piled onto a sytrofoam container. The food was good but was pretty standard stuff. If you like Indian food, you’ll do just fine here.

This is your standard indian food that you can settle for if all the other lines are packed at other places at the food court of Granville Island. Prices ranges from $ 8 to $ 13. I was actually craving for some indian food but was not satisfied by what I chose. I decided to go with the 2 side dishes meal and chose the butter chicken, which was $ 1 extra, and chicken marsala. Butter chicken was pretty decent but not enough chicken was given on both dishes, leaving me with a bunch of rice! Not enough food for your buck! It was pretty neat that they used metal silverware and plates but at the same time, a pain for them to keep washing. So Don’t forget to NOT throw them away in the trash and return it to the booth!

On a busy Canada Day at Granville Island, Curry2U was the only food stall in the Market without some ginormous lineup. Perhaps it was because the line-up for fish and chips from the neighbouring stall was so long, it looked like there was a line-up here too. In any case, I was hankering for something filling and spicy and not too expensive, plus I was in a bit of hurry — and Curry2U filled the bill on all accounts. I ordered the Delhi wrap, which seemed like it was a grab and go, but actually turned out to include big spicy wrap filled with rice and chicken, plus a dollop of butter chicken and a tasty little chickpea salad on the side. The butter chicken sauce doubled nicely as a dipping sauce after I ate the chicken. I got more food than I actually wanted, but it was only $ 6.30 with tax, so I was laughing. Good value for the money here. PS I love the idea of the tiffin lunch Sheila W. wrote about — I do own a tiffin set! Do they still do that?

Indian comfort food is available by the tiffin at Granville Island Public Market food fair. What is a tiffin, you ask? It’s about the best deal going. A tiffin is a metal Indian lunch box. At Curry 2 U, you can buy a two-tiered tiffin full of food for $ 12. Then you take it home and clean it, bring it back anytime for a $ 6 refill! You choose two different types of curry to refill your tiffin. It’s served over rice and you get a naan triangle. It is actually more food than I have ever been able to eat in one sitting. So for $ 6 you can get a big meal plus a snack for later. And, since you’re reusing a container you’re cutting down on waste. It’s even environmental! The types of curries that are prepared in their steam trays change daily, but you are always able to pay a little extra to get butter chicken. I usually go for anything with spinach and/or crispy potatoes in it. I frequent this spot and I have never had a dish that I didn’t like. Also, I have never had a dish that I found spicy. Spice lovers(like myself) can add hot sauce that they provide beside the cash register. If you aren’t into the tiffin thing, the meals are also available plated. They also have a take-out curry service in microwave safe packs that you can order online for pick up.

At Curry 2 U, you can get a vegetarian thali platter for $ 7.49, which I think is a pretty good deal. They also have tippin boxes. As Tiffany R. mentioned, everything is rather mild. I also found my food to be pretty good, though a bit on the oily side. You can order take out and delivery via their webpage.
