I was first introduced to Delicado’s while visiting Nanaimo several years ago, and was delighted upon moving to Vancouver to learn that a location had opened up in town. The food there is unlike anything else in the city. It’s basically a Southwest sandwich and salad joint with a Vancouver spin. You can choose between a variety of «roll-ups», which are tortillas filled with various combinations of toppings. The falafel roll-up is a favourite of mine, with falafel balls lending themselves surprisingly well to smoky chipotle flavours. The shrimp and bean roll-up is fabulous, especially if you’re famished. You don’t need dinner after that! All their food is jammed packed with flavour. it is, in fact, impossible to go wrong here. The biggest downtown is choosing just one option from the menu. A few things to note: Every roll-up and burrito is made from scratch, and well, nobody is in a hurry there. Expect to wait at least 10 minutes after you place your order for it to be ready. The staff are friendly though, and don’t have a «I’m too good to be making you sandwiches» vibe like some other sandwiches places around. It’s a popular lunch spot among the business crowd, so it can get quite busy during the lunch hour rush. It’s probably not the place to go if you only get 30 minutes and have any distance to walk. When you go to the counter to order, there is a heat level menu, and you select your spiciness preference. They don’t mess around with their spices. If they say hot, you’d better believe it’s going to be hot/Personally, I go with the medium, or the medium plus spice if I’m feeling adventurous.

I love this place! It’s amazing that one restaurant can have such great burritos when compared to anywhere else… the sauce, the chicken, the sweetcorn… everything really. I can’t recommend it enough.

I like the space — lots of seating for a 1pm Friday lunch. I ordered the Burrito el Grande Flour tortilla plate which is suppose to contain«chicken, shrimp or beans, southwest pico and topped with salsa, cheese, tomato and sunflower sprout» but it was really just black beans and corn. My spiciness tolerance is virtually non-existent so I ordered low on the«heat scale» but that meant it had zero taste. The upside is it was a healthy lunch. I’ve attached a photo of the burrito as a point of ref. I think the specialty roll-ups may be a better choice, menu:

It’s hard to think of anywhere else downtown where you can get a meal this delicious, this healthy, this quickly. The staff are friendly, the selection is broad and they don’t mind if you linger(although you may have trouble finding a space during the lunchtime rush — they’re pretty popular). My go-to meal is the chicken wrap and beet salad.

I first found Delicados when I lived on Vancouver Island — and immediately fell in love. I was so excited when I discovered that they had opened a café in Vancouver. These are probably the best wraps in the city. Their pico sauce is awesome, they use sunflower sprouts, which are yummy, and their chipotle sauce is amazing. Their«heat» scale goes from mild– to hot ++, where the hot blows your head off. My favourite has to be the California Wrap, hot add pico. SOGOOD! Next time you’re going for lunch downtown, this is worth stopping in to try.
