Wow very nice looking Denny’s and chill atmosphere. More for the adult crowd which is fantastic. it would be really nice if they can put up a giant red neon«OPEN» sign since it’s so dark at night it’s impossible to see if they’re even open. Food and service was pretty good plus the TV’s were great. Cleanest and nicest Denny’s I’ve ever been to. Check it out.

Probably the fanciest Denny’s in North America… very good service for a Denny’s

I absolutely adore this Denny’s location, it doesn’t give off the diner vibe but rather something more upscale as they kept the same interior as Rockford Grill who previously used this location. Even though there’s a more convenient and accessible Denny’s a couple blocks down, I specifically make the effort in coming to this one as I enjoy the Cactus Club/Joey’s/Earls kind of atmosphere it gives off. First of all, I have to mention they have the most amazing restaurant washrooms I’ve ever seen. While the men’s room is a little smaller and simpler, the ladies’ room is full on decked with circle couches, spotlights, and a fireplace. The only place that I’ve found comparable are the ones in the Sheraton Wall Centre. Very classy. One might argue that the food doesn’t live up to the décor; the food is very classic Denny’s, it was delicious and there was nothing glaring wrong with it. The real reason I came here is because it was my friend’s birthday and they insisted as they get a free Grand Slam meal with a pancake for toppers(If you want to do this too, make sure you bring ID!). I personally ordered a half-sized prime rib eggs benedict, I’m rather glad I got a half order because I wasn’t a huge fan of the potato wedges they served(the fries are much better) nor the funny-tasting benedict. I can’t exactly put my finger on why it tasted odd too me, I was however spoiled by a fabulous smoked salmon benny at Enigma West Point Grey a couple weeks ago. My friend had better luck than me; she ordered these nachos that were delicious, I may have stole a couple when she wasn’t looking. It’s a shame that I don’t live in the area as I’m not able to visit as much as I would like. I love the ambience this restaurant carries; partially because I’ve never seen a full house. We visited at 1pm and it was only half full; when we visited at 10pm it was completely empty. So if it’s your birthday you want to swing by for a free lunch or you find Cactus Club and Joey’s too busy, consider coming here to this diner-but-not-really-a-diner. TL;DR– Very classy Cactus-Club-kind-of-interior. Not that busy; has a good quiet ambience. Food is hit or miss. Will come back for the beautiful washrooms, just kidding. Maybe.

Food is good — definitely what you expect at a Denny’s. The service is really great. This is a really swanky looking Denny’s with one of the best bathrooms I’ve been in. My waitress was Guadalupe, and she was lovely and cheerful. The pancake puppies were the best part, and they give you a free grand slam on your birthday.

Now that we have weekends off together, my husband and I make it a habit to do brunch together on Sundays. We slept in late and wanting to avoid the lines at our usual haunts we hopped our bikes and rode to the home of «moons over my hammy», Denny’s. Not just any Denny’s, but the one that was renovated on Rockford Grill’s dime. We were sat by a sweet hostess who turned out to be our server. She was a bit awkward with her introduction but that might have been due to the fact that my husband has a beard that Paul Bunyon would envy. The menu looked great and huge so needless to say it took us forever to look at all the pictures. In the mean time we ordered drinks. After asking what was on tap, and her not having a clue what they had, we suggested she just grab him a lager of some sort. My bold coffee was pretty great and then the beer came… It was a ice cold Heineken. Which most Vancouver beer snobs know is a Dutch Pilsner and not very good. Easy mistake, for a rookie. We flagged down the nearest person, which happened to be a manager, who had about as much grasp of the english language as our server did of the beer menu. Although polite he struggled to help us in our search for the right beer. «Of course we have rootbeer’ he said. No… not rootbeer… lager. We setteled on «Canden Molsen’ but not before he suggested a Rickards White(yummy but still not a lager). But make no mistake the beer was ice cold from the first sip to the last. Yay for chilled glasses. Now for the main event. As true foodies(hahah) we choose our meals based souly on the pictures on the menu. I ordered the banana pecan pancakes and my husband some burger on a cheese bun(who doesn’t love cheese buns?). The burger was decent but clearly needed to be intruduced to salt. My food looked great but was alas wasn’t what I ordered. Infact I’m 90% sure what I got wasn’t even on the menu. It was like half of one kind of pancake and half of another. Plus I’m pretty sure I wasn’t supposed to get hashbrowns(but who complains about extra food?). We sent my pancakes back for the right order and I decided to go to work on my massive sides. But there was no ketchup or hot sauce. I was starting to feel like a pain in the a** but I asked for them anyways(we had fries… it needs ketchup). When it was dropped of we were left with tobasco. Maybe its just us but wouldn’t you expect Franks or, considering their new hispanic flare to the menu, a Valentina’s? When the pancakes finally arrived I looked at my husband«These definitely weren’t worth the wait». Oh well. When the bill arrived we made small talk with our very sweet server. Apparently it was her first day serving… ever! No kidding. This explained everything. She had no support, no guidance, and probably minimal training. Every little mishap would have been avoided if she had a shadow server… anything. Poor girl. Serving is hard and people are mean. Another couple could have gotten really upset or complained that nothing was comped… at least the beer should have been. But we smiled and were kind the whole time(even left a 20% tip). Our long story short… we left full, leftovers in hand, and with time and(hint hint) training hopefully ourserver becomes more adept at her craft. We wish her all the best :)

It’s been awhile since I’ve been to a Dennys. You’d never catch me in one for a number of reasons. Once I had a girl toss their coffee in my face late at night at a Denny’s and another time it was tea and another it was soda. Then there was the food fight many years ago. So it caught me by surprise that I was here at this new location to meet with some friends. Why??? Why this place? It’s a Dennys for gods sake! Why not? And I was surprised. I was able to find something healthy here. My friend and I shared a salad(she drenched it with dressing… yuck…) and a low carb dish something with meat. Which she ate and I ate the veggies that surrounded it. Yes. There is something wrong there. Why is the guy the salad eater and his pretty female petite date is eating the protein? Nevermind. The food turned out to be better than I remembered. Or was it that when I was younger, I was less discriminate about what I ate and chose all the greasy foods then? Well, because of the healthy choices I saw on the menu, I’m giving it a better mark of 3 stars. That’s a good thing. It’s enough, that I just might return again, one day. But it’s still not as good as Dennys in Japan.

New Denny’s in town. It’s located on Broadway where Rockford used to be. Set up with a great modern feel, this Denny’s is already better than the other restaurants. Today was a special day for them but they were able to keep up with the crowds and fill our tummies with their original Grand Slam breakfast. All day they are offering 99 cent grand slam meals with scrambled eggs. Fresh, hot and delicious. Washroom– fancy fancy fancy … Plus there’s 2 sofa seats in the woman’s each equipped with a light switch. Not sure if that’s so we ladies can adjust the l lighting for artistic bathroom pictures. Might just have to try it out next time I’m there. Though that might be reserved for the night I go check out the connected bar. Parking– free 2 hr parking validated by Dennys, enter from the back alley, street parking available– paid or free 2hrs if you can find it Service was excellent for how busy they were. I’m surprised I only had to wait 30 min. Hopefully they can keep that up.
