Good wings n oysters during happy hour, the sushi rolls are nothing special and the liquor is definitely watered down like mostly every bar or club in Vancouver. Is this a Canadian thing to water down drinks?

The sashimi here is absolutely delicious! Like it’s some of the freshest, most tender fish I’ve had while eating out in a while! It was soooo good. The price is a little high, but for the quality of the fish, worth it.

My experience at Ebisu has always been good — great service and yummy food! Love the way that they display their food but the portion is reasonable for the place your eating at. I think prices have went up a little bit more than what I last remember which sucks just cause I eat a lot. We ordered the short ribs which was presented on a plate with a small grill which was cute. Beef tataki, tiger mayo, and the rolls are always must here :) Love the option of alcoholic drinks. Recently had their pitchers white and red of Sangria… didn’t like the white Sangria too much though. It was about $ 20 for a large pitcher — good deal. Tip: If you check-in to the Robson location then a 10% discount coupon would pop up!

I’d give this place 3 stars. The service was good. The ambiance was good. Love the booths. It’s super comfortable. We came at 4pm for their happy hour on a rainy Sunday. It was a ghost town. When 30 – 40 minutes ticked by, we saw hungry diners rolling in. It got busier as it got closer to dinner time. The things we ordered: –Oysters($ 0.99/pc-3.5/5): Nice and plump. Doesn’t taste the freshest but with some lemon and other condiments, it’s just as good as the ones at Joe Fortes –Tan Tan Ramen(3/5-$ 9.99): Thick creamy broth with quite some spice. The noodles were way overcooked, so I had to minus points for that –Takowasa(3.5/5-$ 4.99): My first time trying takowasa so nothing to compare it to. I like the texture of the octopus bits. You get a strong hit of wasabi if you eat it on its own but if you roll it in the seaweed, it will mellow out. Not a big fan of this. Just my person preference –Mango California Roll(2/5-$ 6.99): Though it’s happy hour, this price for this quality is a no no. There’s no sweetness from the mango and the cali roll was just not up to par –Spicy Tuna(4/5-$ 5.99): This was the highlight of the night. Must get this! Maybe two even! The tuna was melt in your mouth and the sauce wasn’t overpowering. Very refreshing as well. –Chili short ribs(3.5/5-$ 5.99): Not fall off the bone but it was tender. There’s some chili paste smeared on top. One of the tastier dishes of that night –Spicy Calamari(3/5-$ 5.99): Maybe it was at the end of the meal, but I felt like we got a fairly decent portion of calamari. It wasn’t spicy like its name. I did come with a sweet & spicy dipping sauce. They were average –Extensive cocktail menu, though, I felt that the actual menu was downsized a bit. I like how they mention the alcohol percentage for each cocktail so you know what you’re getting. Oddly, I ordered the lychee iceberg from the ‘virgin mocktails’ page with an option to add 2 shots of sake which I did, but I didn’t feel the slightest buzz. So… I’m wondering if they added it.

We got to Vancouver Friday night and already checked into our hotel. We were looking for a place to eat which was within walking distance. We initially wanted to go to a different restaurant but there was a huge line and the place was really small. Instead, we walked a couple of more blocks and decided to eat here. There was about a 20 min wait, which wasn’t so bad considering it was a Friday night and everywhere else was busy too. The booths there are very spacious and comfortable! I really like the décor of the place. Food: –My nabeyaki udon was delicious! The takoyaki was ok. –My bf loved the karaage and thought the unagi bowl was ok. –My friends loved the truffle fries and the cherry blossom roll! The service however wasn’t that great. We kept having to ask any waiter/waitress we could to get their attention for more water or check up on our order. Our waitress at the beginning of the night never came back to check up on us after she took our order. What really put us over the edge was that we ordered dessert from this waiter and he said he got it. The dessert said it would probably take 10 – 15 min so that’s understandable. We waited for almost 45 min, still nothing. We decided to grab our check, and behold, they didn’t even put in our dessert order. Overall, the food was good, environment was nice, but the service could use some work.

The food is fine, however I didn’t enjoy my experience here because the tables are an awkward size for parties of 2 and 3 and the restaurant got uncomfortably loud from our neighbouring table(due to the layout of tables). If noise level and atmosphere are important to you then I suggest elsewhere.

Food here is good. They make an attempt to plate things nicely and the menu is really extensive. Tons of things on special, all the time. Their chicken karaage is really tasty, and sushi/sashimi is usually fresh tasting. They have a wide variety of drink specials as well, including numerous shot specials and beer specials. This is a perfect place to meet friends and watch a game. Lots of TVs playing sports and it’s usually quite busy, so the atmosphere is vibrant. Grab some rolls, some karaage to share(big portion), and some red dragon shots and your night is off to a good start. They also have a late night/happy hour menu on most weeknights. One of the specials is $ 3.95 per roll, or slightly cheaper if you buy two($ 6.something). Started ordering and weren’t sure which second roll to get. When the waitress came back we let her know the second roll we wanted. She said that it wouldn’t get a discount because in order to get a discount, they had to be ordered at the exact same time and we waited too long. Seriously, it was a couple minutes. Although that might be their official policy on that happy hour special(did we miss some fine print somewhere?) it raised some eyebrows that they would hard line us like that over less than a dollar. Kind of left a sour taste for us, and we decided to finish up and head out for some more food elsewhere. Aside from that experience though service has been decent.

Not a good place if you expect to receive a restaurant service. They almost just sell foods and have no idea how to serve. Since they are close to several other Japanese restaurant, I recommend to try others. You almost get half size foods for double price. It’s not worth it for this high price at all.

This place has a huge menu of food as well as drinks. The clam pasta is very good; so is the sablefish. The rolls are tasty and large. The restaurant is large so it’s good for birthdays or large groups. I suggest the deep fried banana and the crème brûlée cheesecake for dessert. Staff are nice here.

Went here for the 2015⁄2016 New Year after the City Fireworks Display. Had the Cheese and Shrimp dumpling which was apparently on special but it wasn’t that good and it was $ 8.99. This isn’t my first visit so my review will be based on my overall experience at this place. In a nutshell it’s one of those Asian(Japanese, not sure if authentic) themed restaurant. This is where your Fast and the Furious Tokyo Drift type of Asians hang out. Fun environment and loud. Sometimes it’s even obnoxious when drunk Asian guys who can’t handle alcohol start to yell odd profanities like«PENIS!» while they’re girlfriends are too dolled up and busy showing off their girlfriends that LV or Prada bags that their bf got for them. Lol lol OK sorry back to the review. Seriously though this place is damn loud at the weekend. Nothing against loud places but the noises here are just because out of stupidity. Some waitresses are really nice and attentive but some can have attitude too — I really don’t understand why such behaviour. Food is alright, they look very unique in terms of presentation but for the price — the taste isn’t as good. Portions are small as it is served as tapas style but the taste isn’t even as good or interesting. Over the course of my other visits I found their sushi tasteless perhaps on flavor. Smaller mom and pop to-go sushi shops taste better. This place is more for like drinking. Good prices when compared to a club — this place is good for pre-drinks. Happy hour pricing is good especially at their Broadway location, which is also more tamer. Overall I would only go to this place for occasion invitations. Hapa Izakaya down the road would probably be better.

So, my partner wanted to check this place out, again. Finally I complied and we headed up the long stairs We ordered a pitcher of Steamworks Pale Ale. good solid beer, so bonus points for that After reading over the extensive menu, decided to order some rolls, sushi, spicy calamari, and the kamei katsu don BC Roll tasted odd. like sardines instead of salmon.nasty.didn’t enjoy it Calamari was pretty small. sitting on top of shredded cabbage or what not. more of the mysterious shredded ingredient than the spicy calamari Finally, the katsu don. if you have read my reviews you would know that I am a big fan of pork cutlets. The menu says it’s «simply delicious». I beg to differ, should have read«simply soggy» Service this time was better, but the food once again proved why I never visit this establishment

Great food, nice staff and a top location are the three keyword for this place. Located at Robson street this place is a must for everybody who loves sushi and japanise cusine. I’ve been here serval time on my visits to the city and the food was always great. This time i went here twice, one time for diner and the second time at the happy hour. Both times the food and service was great and I love the stylle here. Combining sushi with the canadian poutine is awesome and tastes great, please give the poutone roll a try. Beer Sake and wine are affordable and good here as well as the viarity of dishes they offer. I’ll be back for sure, as I was blown away by the food.

I’ve been here in 2007 when they just opened. I came back 8 years later. This must say something about the last visit. I don’t think this place has been thoroughly cleaned since the last time I visited. I mean it feels grimy. You know that feeling of disheveled and unkempt? Like they just don’t care? The food was standard cheap knock off Japanese. The kind that restaurant owners make to sell for a small price and size, and rake in $$. The beer was fresh and cold. The rolls standard cheap sushi rolls. The chicken wings quite good, although it would have been nice if the plate they came on wasn’t chipped and cracked. After seeing how unclean everything felt and looked it was hard to choke down the oysters… Happy Hour came to $ 32 + tip. The location brought is in. We won’t be back in 8 years. g

Came here with two clients for a casual lunch today, and as much as I used to love this place, it’s no longer one of my favourites. The prices are still amazing, especially for downtown, and for that, I will continuing coming here once in a while, but I’ve found that I’m no longer a regular. First off, the service is sub-par. The servers are really nice, don’t get me wrong, but they just seem to be all over the place. My orders would get mixed up with others, and they would forget to bring food out until I remind them. Today the speed was okay, but other times that I would come here for lunch, I’d wait 45 minutes to get my food. Totally not okay if you’re on a schedule or if you’re looking to impress. Luckily my company today were also good friends so it was no big deal. Onto the food. I ordered off one of the lunch special sheets where you pick from 3 items that came with a free item(choose from miso soup, rice, ice cream etc) for $ 11.99. I chose tuna sashimi(3 pieces), nigiri combo(a piece each of tuna, salmon and chopped scallop), and a chopped scallop roll. The miso soup was brought over right away and it was just your average miso soup, nothing special. The tuna sashimi arrived first and I was very happy with this. Each piece was very thick and it was fresh enough so I was pretty happy. Next came my 3 pieces of nigiri. I couldn’t seem to pick up the pieces with my chopstick as the rice kept coming apart from the fish so I just ended up eating them separately. I couldn’t put my finger on what it was until my chopped scallop roll came. You can tell just from looking at it that the rolls were formed really poorly. The seams were coming undone and the rice was pretty disappointing. The pieces of rice were not nicely packed together and you can see the nori poking through, and it was pretty sparse. No wonder my nigiri pieces were coming apart — it was due to the rice. Yes, it was a cheap lunch and the food wasn’t necessarily bad, but I’ve had better sushi for similar prices at other places downtown. The only reason I come here for lunch is because you can actually order sashimi for lunch for a great price, but just stay away from any rolls or nigiri.

Been here many times and it’s a great place to meet up with friends. Service was fast and friendly. Somehow I think servers weren’t busy they kept coming and asked if we were ready. Then finally we decided to order– Tan Tan Ramen for myself and my buddy got lunch specials. He said his food was alright and I really liked both Tan Tan Ramen and Chicken Karaage. Tan Tan Ramen was nutty, rich and flavorful and didn’t have to go to Santouka or another ramen place for this. At least I didn’t have to wait in line, yay. Chicken Karaage was so delicious and yummy. Somehow I regret ordering too much, and couldn’t finish eating Karaage. Omg I’m still full.

I have been to Ebisu about a dozen times and have never had a bad experience. Food is consistently good. You get great value for a place that is just a few steps from Robson. I usually come here during the lunch hour and 80% of the time I order the shio ramen with cha-shu pork(which is an extra $ 1) and get a chicken karaage for only an extra $ 2.99. I love the soup base that comes with the ramen and it really hits the spot when it is cold out. The karaage is also fantastic… crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The karaage combined with the ramen is quite a bit of food and I end up sharing with my coworkers. Today I went there for an early dinner at 5:15pm which is in time for their happy hour which runs daily from 3pm — 6pm. The service was pretty good as the waitress came by twice to refill our green tea(which by the way they charged $ 1.50/pp — not sure if this is new or in effect during Happy hour). We ordered a few of the Royal Miyagi raw oysters which were $.99 each. As this is only the 2nd time i’ve had raw oysters, I can’t really provide too much insight. I had my usual Shio ramen and sampled the B.C. roll and volcano roll which my wife had ordered. My wife really liked the B.C. roll and also enjoyed picking at the chicken udon our child had ordered. The food I have tried are: — Shio ramen with chashu pork — 5 stars — chicken karaage(5 big pieces and yummy) — 5 stars — volcano roll — 3.5 stars — B.C. Roll — 4 stars — chopped scallop roll — 2.5 stars — cha-shu pork mini rice bowl(lunch) — 2.5 stars(a little too saucy for my liking) — buck a shuck oysters(happy hour) — 3.5 stars — salmon teriyaki boat(lunch) — 3 stars

This place is great. The service here is exceptional and the food is really good too. Me and a friend ordered a variety of items ranging from tempura to roe to sashimi etc. All were made and presented beautifully and tasted just as good. The waitresses are very attentive and easy to get a hold of as they seem to help each other out. So you can basically ask most anyone for anything. Well that was my experience! They might even bordering to attentive. Lol. Every thing tasted really good. Without a doubt one of the best places to go with a group on a night out if you’re hankering for sushi. I just ordered beer bit I was sitting at the bar and saw some amazing drinks go out. I think I will come back with the intention to actually drink DRINK ;) I really like the ambiance too. All black, sleek, somewhere you wouldn’t mind going on a Saturday night.

We actually ended up eating here since the restaurant that we originally intended on dining at was closed. I normally have lunch at the Richmond location because they have the best noon time deals but we were reasonably satisfied with the Robson restaurant since we made it in time for their happy hour. Everything was very reasonably priced and there were even pitchers of beer for only $ 10.99! We ordered several of their sushi rolls($ 6.50 for 2 rolls), a bunch of deep fried appies, and wings. Everything came out quite quickly and the waitress soon informed us that we had to leave at 7:00 even though we were seated at 5:40. This bothered us a bit because they originally told us that we would have the table until 7:15 but we just left without complaints since we had already finished our meal. Everything was quite decent, with the Chikuwa Cheese and Volcano Roll being the group favourites. Nobody really seemed to like their Chicken Karrage though, since it had way too much batter and the meat was quite tough. Overall, I would probably come again someday for their happy hour? The location is great and you don’t have to make a reservation on a Saturday night so it’s a good back-up in case you can’t get a table anywhere else!
