Before it closed and became Qoo Café, this used to be one of my favourite places in Marpole to go. You get tons of food for what you pay, and the food is delicious! I have never been disappointed by their dishes. One of my favourite dishes is the Baked Pork Chops, along with a Momo Slushie Bubble Tea. I really loved the bubble teas there, and it’s such a shame that they closed the place here. :(

2.5*s late night: this place has food. other than no 9… i honestly am not sure where to go for something sort of clean/homey-ish tasting. enough said. their BBT is good — but not GREAT and their food ranges from poor(any of the noodle soups) to good(all the currys) also, the crowd widely ranges at this place from a crazy party(lots of nammed out looking highschoolers) on friday night at 1AM to a fobbed out crowd saturday night. a surprise every time! 8⁄30 Unilocal challenge

Lately, I’ve been frequenting this establishment quite a bit. I do a lot of paperwork and research here because it is open late and there is free wi-fi. Moreover, I tend to have meetings for my secret society of evil doers here because the big booths make for comfortable scheming to take over the world! All joking aside, the food is pretty decent. There are some unique dishes, such as spaghetti with lobster sauce and chicken or fries with ice cream and honey. The drinks are good; typical of any bubble tea house. The service is not bad. The waitresses and waiters and pretty nice but not always the most attentive. Overall, I will continue to come here because it is not too busy, parking is easy, food and drinks are decent, and wi-fi is complimentary. If you’re thinking of having a meeting for your secret society, this would be an ideal location.

Now that this other HK café that I used to frequent has apparently changed ownership and raised its prices, I’m on the lookout for tasty HK café food that is still easy on the wallet. Baked seafood on rice was pretty good, a fairly large portion. My mom had the beef hot pot and said it was quite tasty and not too greasy. On other occasions I’ve also had the curry lamb, which was a little on the fatty side and didn’t have much vegetables in the sauce, unfortunately. Haven’t tried any of their drinks yet, so I’m reserving judgment on those for now

I love Flo! Just a few blocks from my place so I get takeout about once a week. My favourite dish is the slice beef pan fried rice noodles. They are even really good about making stuff that isn’t on the menu if I feel like that. Great place and very reasonable prices.

* Much better options available * We are spoiled when it comes to Chinese food in the Vancouver area. This place just doesn’t cut it here. Stir-fried string beans were simultaneously bland and overly salty with no wok hei. Also almost no meat, but that which was there was terribly overcooked. Meh. Photo: They were served with a side of pickled carrots and daikon as well as a fried egg dish. The pickles were ok, but nothing particularly special. The fried egg dish was terribly overcooked. Photo: A bowl of rice was also included, which was mushy. Photo: Overall meh.

To eat, I ordered the Crispy Salty Peppery Chicken with rice — I’d like to say for comparison sake, but who am I kidding, I love this stuff. The portion was good, about the same portion served at other places — interestingly it is served with sweet plum sauce. I guess it balances out the salty and peppery part of the chicken, but other than one or two pieces, I ate it without the sauce. The vegetables were good too, not too overcooked and a good proportion. I got a heaping mound of rice too that I couldn’t finish.

I ate here yesterday with my friend. We just ordered the dry beef fried rice noodle and taiwanese style fried chicken nuggets and rice. Flo looks nice. Its got the new patio at the front, with a relatively upscale appearance, open glass kitchen style, big cushioned booths. Where it fails is with food and service. The beef fried rice noodles was a small sized portion that seemed like it had just been microwaved in a bowl and plunked onto a plate. It came way too quick for it to have been cooked a la carte. I don’t think its necessarily a sin to microwave a portion from the previous night to serve for a mid-afternoon meal, but something just feels wrong about it. Every hong kong style tea house in Richmond would have made the dish from scratch. Or even across the street at Daimyo’s or the other hole-in-the-wall HK café on Granville. Doing it this way just seems too much of a shortcut and exposes a lack of consideration and care for the food and the guest. In general, I felt that attitude from the staff. They’re probably not getting paid that much, and I get the feeling like most of them probably have a drug/drink habit. They should all just take a smoke break together and chill out for a while before coming in to serve us. My friend and I live in the neighborhood, and so we walk past the back of the restaurant quite a lot. Oh man, does the garbage ever stink and it is also occasionally quite messy and disgusting. I think the owner or manager should really invest more time and care into this establishment. Its got a good location, a favorable review history. If they really put some time and interest in, I think it could be a brilliant go-to tea house again.

A reliable Chinese café with good food in a modern setting. The reasonable prices and extensive menu mean I don’t mind coming here often. The CURRYBEEFTENDON is very good with rice — super soft chunks of meat in a flavorful sauce. The BAKEDSEAFOODRICE, however, was less impressive. Don’t dismiss the«Western» side of the menu offerings: the CHICKENCLUBSANDWICH is one of the best. Instead of questionable cold cuts, Flo inserts an entire deep fried chicken cutlet! Brilliant.

I had their Tofu Fish Tofu Lamb Hot Pot(something along these lines) and it was pretty disappointing. They used firm tofu and there was barely any taste for all the items in that pot. My boyfriend had their Shrimp & Mushrooms rice on White Sauce, and it didn’t taste anything special either. At the end of dinner I realized a bug was floating on the water of my hot pot and told the waitress about it. Wasn’t very impressed when she said«so what do you want to do?» I really wasn’t going to do anything other than to tell them to tell the kitchen staff to be more careful. Later another waiter came by and explained that it couldn’t have fallen in while cooking because«it would be in pieces» and i «wouldn’t be able to see it this way»… great

So I just went today at like 7. I’m giving only 1 star because the server had really nice patience. So when I arrived, there is good ambience and that kind of stuff. I ordered a Jasmine Milk Tea with Boba and Mango stars. I haven’t eaten there before, so I asked what they would recommend. The server recommended the curry beef brisket on rice. After a long time of waiting, the curry arrives at my table, upon eating my first bite, I noticed that the meat was ICYCOLD. Like it wasn’t red, but looked cooked. They most likely made it a while ago and just put it in the microwave. I called the server over to get me a new one since I AMNOTEATINGCOLDMEAT! So after another 20 minutes of waiting, I get my new curry. This time the meat was cooked, but didn’t taste too fresh. I looked at my curry and there was this thick layer of oil. I decided to taste the curry, and to my surprise, ITWASSPOILED! I know what curry tastes like after a day of no refrigeration. Just because you heat it up doesn’t remove the spoiled taste of curry. I asked the server when the curry was made, and he said that it was made today, just a few hours ago. This is obviously a lie because the appearance of the meat wasn’t fresh. I only paid for the drink and gave quite a nice tip. 3 dollars for food that was crap. I am never going there. NEVERRETURNING! I hope they learn from their mistake because you do not serve cold meat and spoiled food at a restaurant.

Sophia and I struggled to come up with a fresh lunch option until she remembered Flo in the Marpole area. It’s a place I pass by all the time but never tried. I really dug it. There are so many options from lunch specials, sets, combinations, and the regular menu. First off, I got a mocha smoothie which was really good, cold, and sweet. I loved it as much as Sophia’s lychee slush. I ordered the lemongrass chicken on rice with prawns. I thought it was a fine lunch option and satisfied my hunger pangs nicely. It was a good amount and I appreciated the presentation of it all. Sophia ordered the pork chop on rice with ham and egg on tomato sauce. She gobbled it up satisfyingly. It wasn’t by any means spectacular, but I really liked Flo as a lunch spot and look forward to coming back. Their lunch combinations were solid and affordable.

One of several bubble tea type places around the Granville + 70th area. Parking is ample on the nearby streets. Staff were quite friendly and quick. Beef and mushroom capellini — noodles + sauce were really slimy. Not what I expected at all. Beef and straw mushrooms were okay though. Deep fried dumplings — thick skins, had a very oily taste. Spicy cold cucumber — fresh and crispy. My favourite dish of the 3.

I’m not sure how to define it as BBT or HK Style Café, it kinds of mixed. I didn’t go back for BBT or dinner for a long time. I found the size of some of the dishes have gotten smaller and the prices have gone up. The food quality was getting worst. My husband ordered the Cajun chicken with spaghetti was good, the pan fried chicken quite juicy and tasty. I had spicy seafood hot pot with rice meal, it was ok. The cream corn chicken soup was tasteless and it tasted like a corn starch based. The seafood hot pot wasn’t spicy at all and the frozen seafood was crappy. I found they put a lot of MSG in the soup to make it favorable and very thirsty after I finished it.

FYI, I am only Unilocaling for the sake of Unilocaling. If you want an informed review then you will need to skip my review. We went here last night and we didn’t eat anything, nor did we(gf and me) order any bubble tea. Instead we purchased the traditional HK coffee tea. You coffee and tea drinkers out there can relate to this: after drinking tea or coffee with cream, your tongue gets this nasty cream residue on it. And it just taste nasty and you KNOW that your breath can scare off even the nicest people. Well, with this drink, I find that the nastiness and bad breath multiplies x2 when you mix coffee with tea together. Anyway, the reason I gave Flo 2 stars is because the coffee tea was not hot, just barely room temperature. I ordered a HOT drink and not a WARM drink. I am immaturely demanding. Tough!

This bubble tea joint is better for food than it is for bubble tea. I ordered their strawberry milk tea with pearls(half sweet) and their eggplant and pork on rice with spicy garlic sauce. The rice dish was super good! I loved it! It arrived very quickly too. Their bubble tea on the other hand was mediocre — perhaps better than most bubble tea places in Vancouver. I liked their pearls the most — sweet, but not too sweet. My partner had Hong Kong milk tea and baked Portuguese chicken on rice. His rice dish was quite yummy too. They put more potatoes than I would’ve if I was to make it myself — but it’s a restaurant and they need to make money. He seemed to have enjoyed his dish very much. Each rice dish was roughly $ 7. Each dish comes with a hot drink, but if you want to make it cold add $ 0.50 and if you want to have bubble tea instead, add $ 2.00. Not too bad of a deal. There are many dishes to choose from! I’ll be coming back for sure.

The 2 worlds meet as one. Hk style café food, plus Taiwanese BBT drinks. Sweet. Literally. They have quite a simple menu, with the standard baked dishes-seafood on rice, pork chop on rice. and the ‘fried’ dishes-beef fried rice noodles, singapore rice noodles. they also have hot pots. I usually come here for their late night special which starts at 9:30pm.(I believe they also offer the same menu from 2−5pm.) Same kind of items as the regular menu, but in a ‘mini’ size, plus a few other snacks. «HK style French toast», chicken wings, etc. Add $ 2, and you can get a BBT of your choice! What’s even better, you can add pearls, coconut jelly, and mini mango stars for no extra charge! I usually get my usual of baken chicken on rice, which is exactly what it sounds-a chicken thigh, baked with tomato sauce on fried rice. It’s not too bad, and the portion is just perfect. For the drink, I either get the matcha slush with red bean, or the coconut slush. I add some pearls to it, and this is the perfect cheap late night meal! Also they have free wi-fi, so feel free to surf while you slurp those bubbles one by one up the straw. Service is actually not too bad here, and they can actually understand English.

I’ve driven past here so many times on the way to the airport or Richmond but made a concerted effort today to actually eat here! Yummy, there weren’t many HK Cafes down in the south bay so coming back to Vancouver, its been an HK Café dream come true. The sign is nice and big and eye catching! The inside has nice décor. The service was quick. Baked pork chop with rice has been my favourite dish to fatten me up/order in places like this! The prices were on the high side $ 9 for this! But when the dish came out quickly, it was about 2x the size that I expected(or could finish!) Seriously there must have been 3 pork chops on that plate. My friend enjoyed his baked seafood rice too. Next time, I’d opt to share a plate like this with someone and it’d be pretty reasonable that way! I’d definitely come back on the way back from the airport.

This is our default«too lazy to cook or drive anywhere for food» place. Pretty big portions and the food always comes out fast. The sambal chicken and green beans on rice never seems to get any love but I quite like it. The rice isn’t always great, but something about it makes my taste buds happy. One caveat, it’ll *really* help if you speak Mandarin. I don’t. I make sure to always come with people who do.

I come here regularly with friends or my family. Overall, a pretty decent place to go if you’re in the area but not somewhere I would drive too long for. Food and Drinks: The food is good– big portions with lots of ingredients. I recommend the Crispy Fried Noodles with Pork, Sweet and Sour Noodles, and Bowl Noodle Soups are usually good. Drinks(I’ve only tried a couple bubble tea) are pretty decent as well. They have a very big selection but are a little bit pricey; however, the portions are quite generous. My favorite is mango smoothie with pearls. Service: The service is satisfactory… when it’s busy, waitresses usually kinda«look past» you sometimes. When it’s not too busy, service is better. Décor: pretty comfortable though I would not recommend sitting in the last booth… unless you want asian music blasting in your ears. Parking: I think it’s very difficult to find parking… you have to park in front of people’s houses and sometimes they get irritated and come out of their houses to ask you to find parking somewhere else.
