Vera’s Burger Shack

For Marpole, this is the best burger joint, though Cravings i heard makes a mean one.
and like the extra room on the right side, with its nice booths, in some ways better than the Kits location.
Being the corner location, there’s a good amount of parking, except rush hour 3−6pm.
any burger’s deleesh w/​its vera sauce, and in my younger days, the G-​money burger, double everything, was my preferred poison.
Great service too.
Too bad they don’t deliver.

We didn’t stay to eat but the place looked quite dirty and the counters were sticky. Definitely didn’t look busy enough to justify areas not being clean.
Menu is simple but you also don’t see the specials (posted only on the register) until you’ve already made your decision and are about to order.
The big con for me is that it is way too expensive for a single burger. $ 7 for a single burger with nothing on it… Extra 4 if u want fries+ drink, $ 6 if you want onion rings or yam fries + drink. Sure you make it fresh but how much does it cost to toast a bun, roll out a patty and cook it and top it off with sauce.
My Stinger burger (6oz patty, jalapeño coins, cheddar) WAS great after I toasted it cause the bun was not tasty the way it was, and my cheese wasn’t melted. I’m glad I took out some sauces too or else it would have been too saucy. I’d say a ⁴⁄₅ after heating it up.
My bf’s BBQ burger (wed special) was very large but he toasted his to melt the smoked cheese as well. Overall ⁴⁄₅ burger. He liked having all the sauces on it.
The beer battered onion rings were pretty good. We enjoyed it.
Nice to have but only once in awhile.

Went to Vera’s on Wednesday for the Barbecue special bacon cheese burger. As usual the service was great, the burger awesome, and the fries super salty the way everyone likes them, but won’t admit it. LOL The only negative about this location is that it is always cold inside — dress warmly — the food is worth it!

Canuck Burger and the Pale Ale were both super tasty! Mom enjoyed her Basic Burger, also washed down with a pint of Pale Ale, and she thought the whole thing was a great treat. Four thumbs up! Guys at the counter where super friendly! I’ll be back for more!

I ordered a Baja burger «to go». This was a mistake. Although this is considered a specialty burger, it was lacking in pizazz. I’ve had this burger before at the Davie Street location and it was terrific. At the Granville Street location, however, they don’t include any lettuce or tomato. Heck, they barely even speak to you at all.
I phoned back to express my disappointment and the young worker told me they don’t include lettuce and tomato with that burger. Well, that’s not what the website says nor what happens at the Davie Street location. I felt sorry for the poor kid. Maybe they haven’t had enough training or maybe they just forgot their training. This was not, however, a premium burger and definitely not worth $ 9.00.

My husband and I rarely eat fast food so when we want a good burger in the area we come to Vera’s. They are pricey, but I would much rather have a good meal than some fast food junk on the cheap.
I have had the Greek salad, which I hear they have stopped serving. That is a disappointment. Sometime I am not in the mood for a burger but the hubby is.
Anyway, we tend to order the sweet potato fries a lot. Love those, although once they were over cooked. The chili dog was great! I sometimes suffer from Acid reflux so I thought this was the thing on the menu that would end up coming back to torture me, but it didn’t. We haven’t eaten anything that we didn’t like. I am sure we will be going back soon. :D

I’ve had several unpleasant experiences here, but this recent one just did it for me.
Past problems included wrong orders, and uncooked yet charred patties (bloody raw!) I’ve given it several other tries, and almost all times I have occurred the same problems.
This time, I came on a weekend afternoon. The place wasn’t busy at all. I ordered 2 burgers and large fries to go. Here’s when I started noticing problems. Their kitchen is open, so I can see most of their operations. One girl starts cooking the patties. It’s all fine, until she starts texting on her cell. It wasn’t just a quick text, but she was on the phone several times while the patties were cooking. The whole time I’m wondering why she’s not monitoring them, which could also be the reason why the meat has been charred several times before.
I wait and wait, about ten minutes later I finally got my order. I’m back in my car, and decide to check to see everything was there. My large fries were missing. I go back to the store and let them know. Apparently they never took the order of fries. Waited another ten minutes for the fries.
Their burgers are ok, but at $ 5.99 a burger I’m expecting a little more, in terms of efficiency and cleanliness. Fries were undercooked. I’ve had their burgers at their other locations and they seem to be better. I think I’m crossing this Vera’s location off my list.

I love the taste of their burgers, but I can’t get over the fact that this place is VERY unsanitary!
The young lady help me with my cash, then went on to make my burger. No gloves, no hand washing. I am completely disgusted.

Came in to redeem the coupon — these are huge 6 oz. burgers! Service is friendly at this location and lots of seating. Limited parking behind the restaurant but there’s a lot of street parking.
Hubby had the 4-​cheese and I had a modified 4-​cheese… initially I picked the lamb burger, but they had run out of lamb patties so they allowed me to pick whatever I wanted, so I got a yummy custom 4-​cheese with the organic beef patty! Yay. The fries and the onion rings were our sides and we were STUFFED afterwards.
I’d definitely come back again… LOL, looks like I may sign myself up for their newsletter now too ;)

Mmm… I love the poutine here! maybe i haven’t had too many in my lifetime, but. this has been one of the better ones. their cheeseburger wasn’t too bad neither… the Vera sauce added to it is great! it’s their version of mayo with a smoky something mixed into it. mm… the rest of the burger was lacking just a tiny bit of moisture, but the sauce helped it.

Burger is great. Great to try once. But very pricey so bring your wallets and it better be with money. Cause your not paying dollar menu price. The Service was great and friendly. They have all the condiments you can ask for. Everything is where you need it to be.
The only problem is the parking. You have to find street parking and MAKE SURE YOU READ THE SIGNS! So you don’t get a ticket. It’s a little confusing. The Restaurant is clean not sure of the bathroom. The outside is clean also.
So I guess its just the Price of the food that didn’t get that extra star to make it a 5 star. The economy is down so now you can lower your price!!!
