This is was the most relaxing experience I have ever had! Floating in a tank with shallow water filled with 800 lbs of Epsom Salts in complete darkness It is suppose to help with my insomnia. I can’t imagine it won’t!

Great experience! Staff is super helpful and attentive. It feels really nice to get away from technology and other distractions. 1st session took a lot longer to get adjusted, 2nd session I enjoyed it a lot more and was able to relax.

I’ve floated 5 times weekly now before writing this review. My plan is to try this weekly for 3 months to see how I feel, better or worse. If you get the $ 40/float price, it’s really the best deal around since a float is 90 minutes($ 0.44/min). I find the 60 minute floats a bit too short, but some other places are offering it as low as $ 35 for 60 minutes($ 0.58/min). The atmosphere feels peaceful when you enter the spae. The receptionist has always been helpful, chill, and always interested in seeing how they can improve your experience further. I like the fact that each room is private with its own shower. I don’t like going to a different space for a shower before and after floating. If you need to use a toilet, you will have to go to the bathroom at the end of the hall but that part is OK. Some people leave right away after their float, but I tend to hang around the post-float lounge for 15 or so minutes to just enjoy the peace, flip through some of the books, and get ready for the barrage of noise from the external world. I really notice my senses are heightened after a float for a period of time. No one judges whether you use your full time or not. If it is your first time, give yourself permission to end early, for whatever reason. Yet still don’t quit so easily but only if you’re having a traumatic experience. Floating is for introspection, relaxation, healing, resting, not so much for entertainment. Sometimes healing is tough, like getting through a broken bone, going through cancer treatment. I always do feel better after floating by being a bit more relaxed than before I started. First visit, had 10 minutes of fear, left the door ajar for light and air. Then it also got cold and I got comfortable with where I was, how to float that I decided to close the door for the remainder. I drifted in and out of consciousness at this time. I meditate on a regular basis, and floating in and out of consciousness is pretty standard for Yoga Nidra. Second visit, I was super super tired, lack of sleep. I slept for the entire 90 minutes. Third visit, I felt a bit of anxiety waking up 30 mins before the end of a session and after a deep nap. Instead I used this time to go inwards and explore what might be triggering the anxiety. I didn’t figure it out in that 30 minutes but that question nagged at me for a few days. I still don’t know the answer, but I can identify many other instances where I have felt anxiety, always eager to go somewhere, and leave for somewhere — but not always being present. Identifying a problem is always a first step to resolving it. Now each time when I feel anxious, I step back to try to observe how it may be triggering. Fourth visit, I think the humidity in the tank got to me this time. I did notice it in earlier floats, but this time I ended up propping the tank door open for the last 30 minutes so I can breath more comfortably. The receptionist was helpful in suggesting a problem… a 0.5C reduction in temperature. The fan only goes one speed unfortunately. Fifth visit, I left the tank door just slightly ajar. The light was annoying but breathing was comfortable. I’m slowly getting the hang of what my body wants. Each visit is probably going to be a little different as I enter the tank a little different, i.e. stress level, sleep level, etc.

After having floated a couple times at the gastown location, I decided to try out the new one in kits. It’s smaller than gas town but otherwise about the same. The waiting room is nice and calming and the sensory deprivation session is also quite an experience. I was a bit grossed out this time because I awoke mid-experience about three times due to a feeling on my hands, which, when I moved them around, I realized were long strands of hair from someone before me. Kind of hard to get back into the mood with long floaty hairs belonging to other people getting all over you. For people who have never floated before, I would caution you that floating isn’t what I would describe as «fun», but rather an experience that everyone should try at least once. The first time I ever did it freaked me out quite a bit because, well, its freaky. You lose all sense of where you are which is kind of the point, but also a very strange feeling that takes some time to get used to. I also recommend using the earplugs provided. They told me this trip to go without the earplugs but the inevitable happened and some salt dried up in my ear after, no matter how much I tried to clean then before, which is kind of gross.

I’ve been going to Float House for over a year. I usually go to Gastown but tried the Kits location for the first time recently — loved it. The first experience was a bit freaky… I actually didn’t got back for a couple months but decided to give it another try. I’ve now had a monthly membership for the past 8 months :) They create a great experience right from the start, from the calming personalities of their staff to the relaxing atmosphere in entrance and lounge. The float itself is fantastic; easily one the most relaxing things I’ve experienced. Also their shower is amazing. I know that sounds ridiculous, but when I tell people about Float House, the shower is on my highlight reel. The feeling you get afterwards is really great, like your whole body is vibrating and you’re sensing far more than ever before. I’d recommend taking an hour or two afterwards(especially your first time) to just be. You can do some of that time in the lounge(I’ve accidentally spent an hour doing that once…) but if you can go find a nice spot in the sun on the beach and just people watch for a couple hours ;) I’ve now introduced 4 other friends to Float House and they all wanted to go back after their first time. Highly recommend!
