JOEVEGISCLOSED. this place has vegetarian and vegan food but also meat food. it is pretty good for food court food and it’s cheap, which is great. they give you a lot of food for the price, too, which is rad. the food’s not incredible, though. i mean, i don’t know why you’d expect that in the basement of harbour centre, but you’ll enjoy it a lot more if your expectations are low. also, they may be veg– and other dietary restriction friendly, but bring your own dish if you don’t want a styrofoam plate. i saw nary a dish or utensil in the entire court, however, that wasn’t styro, so at least joe veg is in good company.

I decided to give this one a go on the way out of town. I tried the mulligatawny soup, I can say it was good however a little bland. The lunch and price was good, however the out of the bag dinner bun did not look like the french bread in the picture. Its a little thing but that is what I was expecting. I found when it was all done I was also hovering between a 3 and 4 for this place so to balance it out(and issue with the bun) I am going for the 3. I can say that for a place in a food court this place is real good. For a restaurant it is average.

I was hovering between 3 and 4 stars… but went with a 4. I had to grab a really quick lunch today and remembered seeing the Joe Veg ROTD from a little while ago. I went with the vegan shepherd’s pie and the chick pea and vegetable stew on brown rice. My total was like, $ 6 something after tax and they gave me a LOT of food! Not too shabby… The food itself was good but slightly bland. nothing a little bit of salt can’t fix. I love that they have the brown rice instead of the white rice. I’ve never felt so good about eating in a food court before! I’m still kind of confused though. A few of the signs had the word chicken. now, by this do they mean FAKE chicken? I probably should have asked, but I was in a hurry and just pointed at all the safest bets. I’ll have to ask next time I go! I’m excited to try some of the other dishes. Everything looked so good!

Joe Veg serves up vegetarian and vegan food. I usually stick with the vegan mulligatawny soup. Healthy, filling, and delicious! Last time I visited, I got a free vegan cookie with purchase of the soup. The owner has just started making these. I was a little skeptical when I was handed the cookie, because really, a vegan cookie doesn’t exactly sound tasty. I blame the fruit sweetened carob cookies from the 80s for my distrust of vegan pastries. But surprise, surprise, this cookie was fantastic! I would happily eat another and another and another…
