Not a bad place to gather if you are needing a big place with many people and really no extra requirements except alcohol, this was the spot, and somehow we came on a Friday for a little meeting that kind of became somewhat of a drink fest. I do not usually come to this area of town to pour the alcohol down my throat, especially on a Friday night but I have always known of the place. The entrance is along Pender, and once you enter you are greeted right away with an ID check. If you forget your ID, well you are out of luck, don’t matter how old you look, take that as a compliment. This place is definitely one you can deem a sports bar, and on any given Canucks night, all the flat screen televisions will be showing the local sports game, at the same time there will be some type of loud music going on for those who are just here to drink it up and have a good time. On the Friday we came here, it was a 90’s music night, and with all the beer pitchers I was seeing hit our table, it was a happening night. We had a nice booth seating near the front door, and there are areas here where you can either sit, be at the bar, and even play on the pool table, just know where the liquid flows, and if you are not too shy… company will be coming, and somehow we had a mini party going on. Unfortunately when I was here, and with Mark H., that there was no food to be had, and our only hope was the Burger King next door, due to some kitchen renovations they were having, but it might have been more fun with some nibbles. No matter, the music was booming, people were having fun, somehow our host who invited us dragged out other people who he just met, which ended up with new friends for all of us, and some lost in the washroom due to all the beer that ended up on the table. If you are looking for a drinking hole in financial district, this would fit the classifications of one, if you are looking to watch sports, there is enough tv’s here, and if you are looking for different theme nights, this is also the case.

This is a fun, loud, sociable bar, with a pretty wide selection of draft beers(30+). Vancouver has a weird reputation of labeling any bar that isn’t a pristine Cactus Club or Earls a ‘Dive Bar’ or ‘Sleazy Bar’. In fact it’s just a regular bar that isn’t pretending to be anything other than., a bar. Though granted it looks a little rough and ready from the outside! The bar area is pretty awesome, with a central bar and seating available on both sides. There themed nights or specials every night of the week, some nights may be more to your taste than others. Long story short, this is a drinkers bar. Absolutely no problem with that!

Spent the week in Vancouver for new year’s and this was my go-to place. Staff is super friendly and was happy to give me samples of their many craft beers. The food was also good and the prices overall couldn’t be better, especially during happy hour. I also really appreciated the keen cleanliness here — a very well managed place! Look forward to coming back here next trip for some fine brews!

Good place to catch a game, have a craft beer(they have a full menu of them) and grab some grub. Try the OMG wings Chicago style and Caesar Salad. The fiery pizza, Poutine and nachos are all winners too. Friendly waitstaff. Reasonable prices. Near Canada Line.

Surprisingly fun. No line and no cover are a strong selling point. The Friday night featured 90’s music. Several solid tracks of legends. Kitchen is undergoing renovations so couldn’t really order food except for tacos and burritos next door. We tried to get them to bring us Burger King but not possible. Only had beer, maybe too many pitchers. Reasonable craft beer selection. Malone’s is a bigger, classier version of The Cambie.

Awesome food, and great beer selection! This was our go to place after… And during, school.

If you’re looking for a sleazy bar with… dancing?! This is the right place for you! Two jäger bombs costed $ 17. Pretty expensive drinks despite the watered-down quality. If you’re a girl prepared to be hit on multiple guys. I was pretty surprised there was a dance floor in a bar. It’s a popular place on a Friday, but which place isn’t? If you’re looking for a quiet place to relax Malone’s definitely isn’t the place to be. I could barely hear my friends sitting 2 feet away. At least most of the music is from the 90’s It’s a place of self-service! Meaning there is a lack of service.

Stopped in for a drink, and I had a Pinot Gris and he had a Hoppy IPA, we tried the Cauli-Wings with Franks Red Hot. If I could get these I would rather eat cauliflower instead of chicken. These were awesome. The texture and flower were much better than chicken, my new fav.

I guess everyone has a different experience. We got there just before happy hour closed and the waitress was quick to get our drinks and use happy hour prices. She came back several times to check on us and when we decided to get appetizers, she brought the menu and got our order in right away. She was busy but stopped to answer questions about the game on TV, and was knowledgeable about the proper pouring of beer from Ireland. The poppers(friend jalapeños and cheese) were great, and hot. The beer cold and well served. Service was outstanding and there were large crowds there. So I would go back again.

I am not sure why this has a lot of negative reviews. They’ve added more space. It gets really really busy. Oddly it was really busy on a Thursday night as I came here after a gallery opening to get some Mexican. Customer service was decent although slow ’cause of the crowd. I’ve been going here off and on for years and they have upped their game. They’re not there yet but they’re getting there. Prices are decent.

Had a pretty ‘meh’ experience here. The food was decent, nothing to write home about, but the service was severely lacking. Myself and a few girlfriends came in on Thursday around 5pm, they were fairly busy and it was happy hour so pints and pitchers were on sale. Hoorah! We ordered a pitcher and then stared at it as it sat on the bar getting warm. My friend and I chose to split the mushroom burger as plates of burgers going by looked massive and there was no way we could finish one ourselves. We had asked the server if they could split it on two plates and add an extra side on one of the plates. We let her know that we were totally ok with any extra charges that may be applied to do this, and she said no problem. The burger was brought out by someone that I assumed was a manager. He was the only one there in a collared shirt & dress pants as opposed to the black t-shirt uniform of the rest of the staff. The burger came on one plate and wasn’t cut in half. We politely explained that we had ordered it to split. He looked at us like we were crazy and said ‘So you expect us to do that?’ My jaw dropped and my friend went ‘Uh, that’s ok. Just bring an extra plate?‘ Manager sighed and walked off. Dropped off a plate without a word and was gone. Yikes. Clearly the poor service here is a tiered problem, if we’re being charged to split a meal I shouldn’t be made to feel like I’m putting you guys out. Especially by a manager.

2nd try at Malones. This time we went for a late diner, we just aimed to have some burguers to fill our stomachs. The Rogue was closed so we stoped at Malones. Beer jug was great deal and burguers were ok. 17% gratuity included for three people not really fair for the service received. Please, check out your waiters system because its not efficient at all. Not comming back after tonight.

I was strongly encouraged by someone to try this place again, maybe I just hit them at a bad spot. The service was so bad this time, we only got one beer and no chance to order food after an hour. Getting the tab was like asking the grandest favor of all-time. And, it’s not that I blame the servers so much as they are just so understaffed for their efficiency. I have truly never hated a restaurant so much in my entire life. They seem to hate customers with money. It dumbfounded me.

«Eek! Me thinks not.» — such a valid statement for this location. Came here for some drinks on a Friday night. It was crowded with a young hip crowd. My one star review is based on the horrible customer service I personally received from the waitress. I got that it was pretty busy, but I didn’t get my drink until about 30 minutes after I sat down. Unbelievable. All I wanted was a Vodka Tonic and the person I was with wanted a Hot Toddy. She didn’t write down our orders on her pad but instead tried to look like a pro by listening. Big fail, obviously. My friend and I killed time by playing Rummy on their cool penny-covered communal table. We figured we’d get our drinks in a timely fashion but we played about five games and we still didn’t get anything. I briefly made eye contact with her while randomly looking up and I could see at that moment that she forgot to put in our drink orders. She remembered my friend’s order but what was rude was that she came by re-asking my order and then laughing it off to be cute. Girrrrrrl, please. I like men. Your flirtatious giggle won’t work on me. Once we got our drinks, we were never checked upon after that. Sad that this was my first Canadian night life experience. To that 19-year-old waitress: learn to own up to your mistake, apologize, and not play off forgotten orders by being flirtatious. Definitely not impressed.

Been to Malone’s a few times now to grab a few drinks. Many on tap are from the local microbrews and they have a wide selection of my favorites. For that, it will keep me coming back. Prices are reasonable for drinks. Have tried a few of the appetizers and they too provide a fairly decent choice to go with a brew.

It’s ok. The service won’t run this place up the pole to the top of my list, but won’t drive it to the bottom. My list has a pole attached. We had some reasonable, average eats. It’s a short review, but… just not much to say.

Ohhhh Malone’s! I attended school just a block away from this hidden treasure. At first glance, you might question the intent of this establishment, but after a closer look and an attempt at trying all 36(mostly local) beers on tap, I’ve come to the conclusion that Malone’s Urban Drinkery is a solid broski to which I’d invite to my next kegger. The food has also taken a turn, for the best! They’ve went from cheezy«Imma dive bar so take the s**t we pull out of the fryer as a cultural experience» to «We offer fresh, clean, flavourful, and yes, maybe sometimes greasy food that you’ll love and goes great with a load of friends and more than a few pints of beer.» Did I mention that most of their draft is local? I didn’t earn an A+ in Math, but I’d say that 80% of the beers on tap are local, and THAT is something that I take to the heart. Canada has a plethora of amazing breweries, this includes BC. Malone’s Urban Drinkery is one who supports local drink, local food, and an incredible local experience. See you soon Ma’…(We’re close like that)
