Very friendly and so fast service. And so much sushi for nice price. Good place for fast dinner. I just can recommend this place and I totally come back again.

I was running errands in the area and thought I’d stop in for a quick bite. Ordered the lunch special with 3 items for $ 9.95 and added half order of salmon sashimi. Items I ordered for the lunch special included gomae, negitoro roll and spicy tuna roll. It came with a miso soup too. The soup came first and it was hugely disappointing. It was cold and lacked flavour. The gomae was okay. It was evenly coated with peanut sauce. The rolls and sashimi arrived after. The salmon sashimi tasted fresh and were decent sized cuts. The negitoro roll was not good though. The rice was hard as if undercooked. It was difficult to eat quite honestly and I gave up after two pieces. The spicy tuna roll was a bit disappointing as well. Same issue with the rice, it was too hard, and there really was no «spicy» flavour to it. Just a strip of «spicy mayo» that didn’t taste very good. Maybe it’s the items I chose to order as it seems some other people have had better experiences here than I did. Service was okay. The restaurant is run by Chinese staff and they kept talking to each other very loudly in Chinese during my meal there which I find a bit annoying. I don’t think I will be back any time soon.

Perhaps it was because I was really hungry but the price vs quality of food was great! I really enjoyed their negitoro roll, the sushi felt very soft and the rice had a nice texture. I also ordered their spicy ramen which was also a nice surprise. They also sell a pitcher of Sapporo for $ 10! The service was great in the beginning but when I wanted to pay, I had to stand by the till for 5 minutes before the cashier acknowledged me. She was on the phone but she could’ve acknowledged my presence or something.

So I call this restaurant for a delivery,(since no Vietnamese restaurant do delivery near on my area). First, I called for unagi don which is 12.95, and seafood tempura, 9.50. Then they told me I need to spend 25 to get a free delivery so my boyfriend told me to get agedeshi tofu, which is 4.96 and total now is 27.49. We’ve waited for 1 and 15 hour for them to arrive which is funny cuz they only located at main and 28th and I’m on main and 62nd. So the delivery arrived and i only have unagi don and the tempura. I’m so pissed cuz they charged me for more and I get less. So I called them and the person that I’m talking into sounds so surprise and told me that they will just gonna deduct the agedeshi tofu on my next visit. I’m so mad and told her that I will not gonna allow that because I order online, pay for it, and I want it to get deliver same day and same time. But at the end of the day, it didn’t arrived and never answer my call anymore. I am never ever gonna go for dine in, take out or delivery in here nor suggest it to my family or friends. So disappointing.

Food is good but servers need to listen!!! I ordered my sushi with no wasabi when I was sitting in the restaurant. It was all good because it came just like I asked. I asked to have my sushi to go because I ordered quite a bit of food. As I got home, I thought I’d just finish my leftovers. When I opened my container, what did I find? WASABI which was in the container had that odour that contaminated my sushi. You guys really need to listen and make sure that you get our orders right.

If there were a 3.5 option, I’d select that for this place. I stopped in for a quick mid-shopping bite. Sushi is decent here & I’ve sometimes ordered sushi to go from here. The sushi is satisfying enough for days you’re craving a fix. They also offer a variety of sushi, tempura, bento boxes, ramen and the likes. Today, I had one of their specialty rolls– the Maple Roll. It was good; I was happy with the taste of salmon, tuna, Tobika and spicy sauce. I also got complimentary tea. The service is pretty good as well; they check up on customers regularly.

My friend and I were originally going to eat Lunch at a Thai place but since it was closed, we decided to just get sushi at one of the several sushi restaurants on that Street. Ogenki Sushi is where we ended up going. At first glance, it was a basic simple nice place with sturdy wooden benches and tables. Also had relatively dim lighting. We were the only diners there at that time though we did notice several delivery packages prepared and a couple take out customers. When we entered, the friendly waitress greeted us, lead the way to our table, and gave us our menus. We decided to choose the king roll, magma scallop roll, and ocean roll. The ocean roll arrived first. The plate was decorated nicely and it was pretty good. Then the magma scallop roll came next. This roll in particular tasted spectacular. The scallop was soft and melted in your mouth along with a light crunch from the tempura flakes in the roll. So delicious! The king roll with the tempura prawns, cream cheese and avacados was also great! I definitely would want to come here again and try more of their rolls. The mango roll is on my list for next time! Can’t wait!

There was an inviting sandwich board that read«Ramen Soup» and as I strolled down Main Street around dinner time, it seemed like the perfect place to dine. But I wish I hadn’t. I only ordered the Ramen Soup so can’t judge the rest of the menu but it was bland and under seasoned. And the chashu, rubbery. Such a shame really. But the friendly waitress made up ground. She tried her hardest and with a smile, and so I have to give her credit. But sadly, no. It’s not up to par with the stiff competition of authentic ramen houses that are popping up in the city. Sorry Ogenki.

Dirtiest sushi place I have been to in Vancouver so far. I ordered some vegetarian rolls that came with all sorts of fish and other contamination wrapped inside. I’m just so relieved I noticed before I ate it and got sick. Disgusted, I went back to return the sushi and the woman working there told me «oh, you didn’t say you were vegetarian». I ordered vegetarian rolls, do I have to specifically say I don’t want fish in my avocado roll? On top of that, the restaurant had a sign right in front of the till that talked about the dangers of cross contamination. Just so gross. The staff here need to wash their hands and take a course or two on food safety. Absolutely disgusting, never going back. With so many amazing CLEANANDSAFE sushi restaurants with the same prices in the area, who would ever go here?

My partner loves sushi, but for some reason all sushi in Vancouver gives me incredible heartburn(seriously… I can eat sushi everywhere in the world but here… it’s a mystery and it sucks) I like coming here because they let me order off the ramen menu. He get’s sushi, I still get to eat, everybody’s happy. There’s free parking in the back, which is also a huge plus.

Came here for some sushi goodness. Parking is available on the side streets, as well as Victoria after certain hours. The restaurant actually takes up 2 «spaces» in the row of buildings, so both the dining and kitchen areas are split into 2 large sections. The place is a bit worn down, but the furniture was quite decent. The place looked pretty authentic, until I heard Mandarin coming from the kitchen area. Ah well. This is Vancouver. Special mention goes to the beer specials here — glasses of Sapporo are $ 4, and pitchers are $ 10. I didn’t have any this time, but the empty pitcher I saw on the counter was of the same size one would find at regular pubs. Guess this is my new watering hole. The sushi here is a tiny bit pricey compared to the likes of Samurai or Sushi King, but the ambience here is a bit nicer too. I had the Combo #2($ 9.50). Quality was decent, but it wasn’t quite enough to fill me up. I ended up leaving hungry. It did come with a free miso soup though. Some of my friends had the ramen instead($ 9 – 10). They were disappointed in it. I didn’t try though, and so cannot say why. It’s nice to see that there is another Japanese option in this part of town.

I love Ogenki. I’m a regular here. I’m a fan of spicy tuna and I get it everywhere I go, and still, I think Ogenki does it best. Their prices are good, the pieces are a good size and the rice is cooked perfectly. I recommend the lunch special. I usually get the spicy tuna and California roll lunch combo.

The food was good overall thus the rating. But I had a whole other issue with the guy who delivered the food. I ordered food and got it delivered to my place. I added a message under the«special delivery instructions» saying that my suite is in the back, which is actually in the receipt. Then he went and called me angrily saying that he is in the street and he can’t find my place. I told him that the suite is in the back and he said that I should have put it in my instructions and told me to call it in next time. He could have been kind about it or actually double check the stupid receipt for any instructions, but no. He had to yell at me. He was already late in delivering my food and then this? I am not ordering from this restaurant again.

Stopped in here today while out and about as we were both at risk for getting«hangry», and needed to eat pronto. I still had my sushi craving from the night before so we decided to find somewhere on Main. I was on the look out for the place I had seen one night coming home from the Shameful, that had $ 10.95 pitchers of Sapporo. Couldn’t find it so we opted for Ogenki as it had a $ 6.50 lunch special, and figured we may as well give it a whirl. I had the spicy tuna roll and some agadashi tofu. My fella had beef teriyaki and a dynamite roll. He also had a Kentucky roll which seemed like a California roll, but instead of crab, it had fried chicken, which he loves, so he figured he’d try it. I believe that was an additional $ 8.95. Overall, bleh. I wouldn’t go back. The tuna didn’t seem fresh in the roll, and the sauce for the tofu lacked flavour. The teriyaki was apparently fine, as was the dynamite roll but the Kentucky roll was not too good at all. I’d say the food was definitely below average. The service was Ok, not great. It took ages to get my tofu, and his Kentucky roll. On a side note, the atmosphere really sucked, though this was not the fault of the restaurant. There was this horrid little child constantly shrieking in the back section of the restaurant. It took awhile for them to take our order and while waiting we decided that if the parent could not control/discipline their kid we were leaving. He quieted down and we ordered, then, of course he started up again. If your child can’t behave in restaurants, do the right and courteous thing and please don’t take them OK?! Or, if they start up, get your food to go and leave. Yes, I’m serious. Other patrons should not be disturbed while they are eating because of a temper tantrum. For the record, my low score is not because of the screaming kid. It’s because of the food quality and lack of flavour. I’d give 2.5 stars but since there are no half marks, 2 stars it is.

solid sushi on this side of Main. Kinda spacious with another room from where you enter. LIke their dragon roll, not overly-sized. though not authentic, it feeds the sushi urge. Plenty parking on main st.

I went in with some friends for some lunch and got seated right off the bat by a friendly waitress. None of that awkward waiting by the door. We received our menus and tea by the time we got into our seats and I ordered the lunch special; five pieces of the veggie roll, the tofu teriyaki on rice and miso soup, all for $ 6.50! I found the meal pretty decent for its price and very filling. I have to admit, I found the tofu teriyaki a little bit too salty with that strange, cheap teriyaki aftertaste, but it wasn’t so bad. We didn’t have to wait too long for the food to arrive. You can get friendly, fast service and cheap lunch specials from Ogenki Sushi. It was a very filling lunch for three all under $ 20.50(plus tips), which is not bad at all.

Starving, we were craving ramen. The closest ramen shop was Ogenki. I should have known better. The place was clearly Chinese run, the lady at the door had a strong Chinese accent. I ordered a Tonkotsu ramen. As my stomach growled and twisted, the wait seemed forever. I was really hungry! After 15 minutes or so, it finally came. The first thing I noticed: there was no steam coming from the soup. I took a sip, and it was just lukewarm. That’s never a good sign. The soup was quite MSG-ish, noodle texture was decent, and the char-siu was ok. Definitely go somewhere else for ramen, and don’t let hunger pains lure you to this place like the mistake we made.
