SUPER gooood bbq! My hubby and I split the fried chicken sandwich and pulled pork sandwich with Mac and cheese, fried pickles, baked beans, and corn bread. Fried chicken sandwich: 5 Pulled pork sandwich: 4 Mac and cheese: 5 Fried pickles: 4 Baked beans: 3 Corn bread: 3.5 The restaurant itself is pretty cozy, close tables and small aisle ways. The staff was friendly towards outtatowners like ourselves. They were busy when we walked in and waited on bar stools behind the bar. It seemed like they were working on estimating how long the wait would be and what they told guests. We didn’t mind the weight because the food was SO good!

Tried Peckinpah for the first time for lunch. They serve Carolina style BBQ more dry than Memphis Blues. Flavours of burger were awesome! The only thing is that the price doesn’t come with a side you’ll have to add your side for extra!

Eaten here 3 times. They have entirely missed the mark. The food is dry and flavourless. Service is snooty, as though they feel they are better than their patrons. The sauce selection looks like it’s been licked, sucked and pawed over by a drooling dog. But what caused me to write this negative review is the vacant stare we were greeted with as we waited OUTSIDE their front door(as according to the sign — Line up here). Two of the staff seemed not to care one bit, that patrons were waiting at the door. I will NEVER give them my business. Not that they seem to care, but they certainly do not deserve my money. Try Devil’s Elbow instead.

I used to love Peckinpah, their mac and cheese, hush puppies, ribs and the smoked wings but since they’ve changed the menu it seems like the quality has been downgraded. I will not be returning. There is also a waitress that seems miserable and looks like she hates her job.

the abridged version of the long winded essay below: The food is meh, small, expensive, and make sure you don’t go there for a birthday, this restaurant DOESNOT have any candles except for what is on the tables and they are very, *very* serious about that… the long-winded essay below: I came with my cousins and brother as the ending of a chill celebration for one cousin’s birthday. We ordered Mac n Cheese — the lamest, so bland and soupy! Smoked Chicken Wings — super dry and salty, which might be what smoked chicken wings are supposed to taste like, I just don’t know why you would want it to…, Fries — good, solid fries, pickles — meh, but the dip was good, and the rest I personally didn’t eat so can’t comment on but no one was overly impressed, everyone was hungry tho so we’d ordered a fair bit. All in all on the food front it ranged from not impressive to not good, seasoned heavily with being expensive for what it was, and served with ridiculous ‘tude from our server. Why bother? Go to Tacofino and be satisfied. Or Pourhouse, where they at least have some tasty cred behind they’re swagger and prices! Now for the service/server… Like I said we were having a very chill celebration for a birthday, and our table spoke in interchangeable waves of English and Farsi(reading through the other reviews for this restaurant, I think it’s possible that our ethnicity may have accounted for some the sh*ttiness of our service). Some of my cousins have accents, I don’t know if this was the reason our server had no patience and all the attitude for our table, but that would be hilarious given he was wearing an «I Heart Tourists» button on his shirt and is working in a tourist-heavy located service job… Or maybe he struggled to hear over the irony of his own beard and toque? But whether from a distaste for our multilingual table, or if he was just another in this flood of Douche Hipster Service where being rude and unhelpful is considered… I don’t know what it’s considered, hipsters have yet to figure out what their point is, it seems, but the entire movement is just getting old, and spending an evening in Gastown is getting lamer by the minute. We had our order taken with cold bemused impatience, and delivered after a lengthy wait with the meh food described above. After the savoury food was finished, we ordered a slice of Peanutbutter-Something Cake(NOPE. What the hell was the sauce on the side? Why did it taste like vinegar? Why do you hate cake, Peckinpaw?) and my cousin stood up to ask our server if they had a candle for it. His response«Just what’s on the table». His actual response. So we all tried this time and asked if he had any candles, we’re celebrating a birthday«All we have is what is on your table». We are all dying of laughter at this point at this ridiculous self-righteous person and my cousin blows out the table candle for his wish. When the server returned with our sh*tty cake, we asked if he could please relight our table candle, to which he responds«It’s too burned down it won’t relight.» we stare at him until finally someone asks if they’ve run out of all candles at the restaurant, and the server mad-begrudgingly reaches immediately behind him on the shelf where *all of the candles* are stored… So yeah, make better choices with your time, money, and calories. This was not worth it.

As a North Carolinian. I didn’t go with high expectations. Bf & I shared 1⁄3 of pulled pork &1⁄3 beef brisket with hush puppies, as well as the rib ends as an app. I liked the rib ends. Melted in your mouth and the mayo sauce was delish. Pulled pork. Mehhhh. Tasted like there was too much vinegar in it. Beef brisket… Omg. Wow, so dry. It looked and tasted like tree bark(without the bbq sauce) Hush puppies. Pretty sure hush puppies in the south do not taste like these(they’re generally sweeter) butttttt they were okay with the honey mustard sauce. Service — 6⁄10 Food — 2⁄10 I’ll try again someday. Just not anytime soon.

Amazing service. Delicious food. I felt welcomed from the moment I walked in. Was greeted in a warm and timely manner and seated within minutes. They obviously create their dishes with passion. I had the pulled pork sandwich, which was on some of the freshest bread I have ever had. Also, the meat was beautifully flavored and soo tender. I also appreciated how they make their sauces in-house, which I had the pleasure to taste for myself. I will definitely be back for the Mac N’ Cheese, as well as their stew, which I’ve heard other must-haves.

While visiting Vancouver with my wife on a 3 day holiday we tried multiple restaurants during our stay. We did not have a bad experience anywhere, but this establishment was by far the best experience of all. While walking around Gastown I spotted this place, and figured we would come back for dinner. It was a great choice! Great atmosphere, music, and food! The baked beans and peach and apple tart were absolutely amazing! The pulled pork was great, and the service for me was greatly appreciated. We travel a lot and appreciate great service. Our server was attentive, and kind. I forgot to mention that the prices I feel are very affordable. Coming from the Bay I felt as though i got my monies worth here. We will absolutely visit this establishment again!

This place is amazing. The waiter was very atentive from the start and we got our table and menus right away. The menu is not extensive but the food… Oh my God. The food is divine. I’ve never had a barbecue as good as that. The sides were also really good and they have a Nice selection of local beers and whisky. Definetly recommended!

While visiting Vancouver for a family wedding I noticed this place across the street from the wedding reception venue. The morning after the wedding and a leisurely walk through Gastown I decided to stop in for a bite. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich, fries, and a cornbread. The sandwich was fantastic. The flavour of the pork was excellent and was enhanced by the homemade hot sauce the server had recommended proudly. The coleslaw on the sandwich had a great balance of vinegar and the bun was also tasty. The fries and the cornbread were some of the best I’ve had in years. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys barbecue done right.

Summer 2015 I worked here part-time dishwasher for few months. Second day of working I heard one waitress, who was white, saying«we all hate chinkies – (bad name calling for asians, which I am)», and no one in the staff said nothing about her comment… and obviously it’s her job serving for asian costumers too. After few months working there, one day I noticed my tip was missing for 1 whole shift. I talked manager, who was new. He said because it wasn’t on the computer system, first he said he can’t do much about it, except he can add little bit more money for next tip pool. And he blamed me for not puching in & out on the shift. For the first shift, so I lost close to $ 40 dollar in tips. He gave me $ 14 in return. For the paycheque, I talked the owner, who’s also head chef, and he gave my lost shift in cash. And the owner said he can’t do much about lost tips because it wasn’t his job. Then twice more it happened. This time, I checked in & out, and kept the print-outs. And the manager told me, again, he can do nothing about it, because the hours wasn’t on his book. I checked my paycheque, and all the hours were there. So I complained again to the owner, and he repeated same thing: he can’t do nothing about it becaue it wasn’t his job to care about tips. So I lost close to $ 150 in tips, and it seemed the owner doesn’t even care. So I flamed at the manager, who repeatedly said the tips are complimentary, so he wasn’t obliged to pay me whatever I should have been paid for in my book, because the hours wasn’t in his book. And I got fired, but then I didn’t care because it isn’t right thing for a management for ripping off someone’s tip. So this happened in my last couple of months periods of working there. I don’t know… this place is doomed.

We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience at Peckinpah! The seating area is small but the atmosphere is casual and inviting, and we loved connecting with the GM, Connor, who is incredibly passionate about the restaurant’s menu and methods. Our meal was excellent: Plate A was mac & cheese with greens mixed in as an add-on; Plate B was a pulled pork sandwich, baked beans(a must-try!!!), potato salad, and corn bread. All these items were al la carte, but everything was delicious. At the end of the meal, Connor recommended a featured whiskey/bourbon dessert flight which was perfectly curated and deliciously paired with gourmet pecan brittle. We *love* finding places like Peckinpah that are passionate about the art and science of food; we will definitely be back next time we are in Vancouver.

Potentially my favourite place to eat out in Vancouver. Food is really cheap, service is always amazing and I’ve never found I’ve had to wait longer than five minutes for a table which is almost unheard of in Gastown. Definitely worth coming here.

My go to place for authentic southern BBQ experience. Very casual and chill ambiance just like when one would have BBQ on sunny lazy weekend. Servers and bartenders are very attentive and friendly. Try whiskey flight. They know what they are doing! All additive sauces are done in house, making the meat extra tasty! Even the sides are delishhhhh! Hush puppies and corn bread are must. If you insist to have some vegetables intake, coleslaw is cool, but really? You are at a BBQ place. Eat meat:) have fun!

We had a horrible csm experience today — my worse in 10 years in any restaurant in Vancouver– we didn’t even had a Chance to try the food. I understand you need to give 18% gratuity for big groups but when you are having a terrible experience with the server/waitress and then with the Manger Why did you should have to pay? I think their Cheff needs to be move as a general manager! He understood that the waitress was having a bad day and therefore customers didn’t have to pay However The manager came screaming that we weren’t going to «get away without paying gratuity» Zero knowledge about other cultures– the Mgr even thought that Latinos we were rude because we were using our hands — and when I said that I was glad Social media exist to share experiences like this he got even more upset. We were 12 in our group only 2 decided to stay because they didn’t care about their terrible service and they were starving —

I don’t even know where to start… I’ve eaten here so many times I feel like I could tell you about almost everything on the menu! The revamped their menu a little while ago, and unfortunately cut my absolute favourite dish — armadillo eggs(a jalapeño stuffed with pulled pork and then magically made into heaven), which probably shouldn’t be a surprise as they were finicky and time consuming to make, and they often ran out of them. Still: I am sad. The platters and half platters are still the same, and still delicious. The sausage is juicy and sweet(in a meat-sweet way, not a honey-sweet way), and the pulled pork is flavourful and tender. On my last visit I shared the rib ends, cornbread and a side of Brunswick Stew with Boyfriend. The rib ends were cooked to perfection — fatty but not greasy, and I definitely scarfed them down in 3 seconds flat. They went exceptionally well with the housemade BBQ sauce and hot sauce! The Brunswick Stew is interesting — it’s a bunch of smoked meats mixed with lima beans and corn in a light broth. It was very tasty, and kind of fun to dip your spoon in and wonder which new meat you got to try this time! We had a good distribution of ingredients, and the ratio of broth to meat was perfect. The service is always good, even when they’re crazy busy, and I love that they have only local beers on tap. They now even have Strange Fellows which made us both super happy!

Initially, I was very impressed. This place has great décor with a Southern vibe. It’s certainly a wonderful environment to eat BBQ and smoked meats in. The place is deceivingly small, and they don’t take reservations. The advice was to show up early — before 6:00PM. Now, my hubby and I dove right in and ordered a full rack Ribs and a full order of Brisket, to share. The server was great and convinced the table to order deep fried pickles, as well. I didn’t partake in the pickles, but I hear it’s good. It was hot and fresh, that I know. Our mains arrived and I was quite excited to dig in. We both started with our favourite, Brisket. That was where our initial impression shattered. If I had to describe it in just one word, it would be «dry», perhaps«overdone»? It was very lean Brisket, which was fine, but it was still very dry. We had a hard time finishing the Brisket. The Ribs were better, but not much better. We were introduced to the BBQ sauce on the table, but that did not help the dry and tough meats in our basket. Our friends at the table had Pulled Pork and say it was quite good. So, maybe go with the Pulled Pork if you find yourself here. The sides weren’t bad. They kept me going. I had their corn bread, coleslaw and hush puppies. It was also quite expensive for what it is. We spent over $ 50 on the baskets and did not even enjoy our meal. With more and more BBQ houses in business, I would easily find another, better place for Brisket and Ribs. Sorry, guys.

Came here to try out the BBQ after hearing several different people rave about this place. Parking here(Gastown) is absolutely horrendous. What else is new. The inside is rustic, in a hipster kind of way. Modern vintage comes to mind. There are 2 green bricks on a certain wall — apparently there used to be a green chest there years ago, when the space was a jeans shop. The staff were very professional. My friends had the Bit of beef and pork($ 25). This comes with 2 sides, so we picked the hush puppies and Brunswick stew. The pulled pork fell apart nicely. The beef was nice and tender, and the flavour of the ribs were excellent. Smoky, but not burnt. Most of it cut apart quite nicely. Deep fried pickles($ 8) — taste was okay, but honestly, this dish was quite a rip. There were literally 8 thin pickle slices. Stacked together, I’m not even sure if that was 1 pickle in total. See photo. Hush puppies — deep fried corn bread balls with cheese mixed in. Surprisingly good. Comes with honey bourbon dipping sauce. Brunswick stew — smoked beef and chicken bits with corn and beans in some kind of liquid goodness. Tasted quite good. Baked mac’n cheese($ 13) — Good flavour. Not too salty(common mistake with many other places), and not too greasy. The bigger issue I had was the portion — the casserole looks deep, but half of it is ceramic. Why 3 stars? The food here quite pricey for what you get. Yes it’s good, but the value is a bit lacking. My friends and I all left somewhat hungry. 4 stars for the quality, 2 stars for the quantity. According to the menu, the«Bit of pork and beef» feeds 1 – 2 people for $ 25. I could probably wipe out 2 of these things myself, including the sides. Overall the food is decent, but be prepared to spend a few bucks here. Because of the lack of value, I can recommend the food, but have trouble justifying a return visit.
