Overly Priced and Bad Quality. If i am not a UBC student who only have 1 hour of break, i will never step into this place. For sushi, the rice is dry, stuffing is poorly flavored. The entire sushi falls apart when you tries to hold it. The Dons/Box are even worse. It’s is so try that I have buy extra drinks to facilitate the swallowing

I have had sushi from here a few times — the sushi is just okay. However, that is not what this review is about. Today when I was in the women’s bathroom on the main floor of the Nest I saw one of the kitchen employees leave after running her hands under the water for about 2 seconds and using no soap. This is very unsanitary, and I hope that someone from Peko Peko will see this review and remind their employees that hand-washing actually serves a purpose.

I had the smoked salmon roll at your place yesterday. I ended up not sleeping the whole night, throwing up uncontrollably and missing my classes the next day. I would not recommend this sushi. I would, however, recommend a quality health check on the restaurant. This is unacceptable.

I’m from Vancouver. I’m Japanese. I eat a lot of sushi– this is a fact. Peko Peko(formally the Honour Roll) serves decent cold sushi and dons at a reasonable price. I enjoy their spicy crunch roll, even though I always seem to taste sawdust in it… That said, their dynamite roll is a disaster. One, it’s too large and fragile to pick up. Once you pick a piece up the whole thing falls apart. Two, the prawns were not cleaned properly and I do not especially like consuming prawn poop. With all this in mind, I will continue to visit Peko Peko in the beautiful NEST for my delicious saw-dusty roll, while avoiding with all cost the veinous prawn disasters.

Peko Peko was originally the Honour Roll in the old SUB. Now it’s in the new SUB. I get the avocado roll and the yam tempura roll. So cheap — it’s under $ 10 every time and delicious. Bonus — they take the UBC Meal Plan here. There are cases with pre-made items. It makes it easy to grab something quickly. Observing the place over the last month — I find the turnover in the cases very fast. Things are fresh and the employees are always busy making new items. I’m so glad to have this near home!

I got the salmon roll and the spicy tuna roll. The spicy tuna was delicious, but the salmon… Well it was very fresh, so that’s good, but it did have a sizable bone in one of the pieces, and as these are small rolls, I had to pluck the large bone out of my mouth after eating it. This isn’t acceptable at a sushi bar. However, this is the opening day and I recognize that things may improve over time. TL;DR: good, fresh sushi at good prices, but watch out for salmon bones!
