Pie R Squared is my go to place for meals when I have to take prep sessions. The price is great, hours are amazing and the food quality is actually pretty good, considering what you pay. Sure, there’s a possibility that the slices have become slightly smaller compared to when they were still in the UBCSUB, but I think the improvement in choices quality and venue trump any of the new problems. I would recommend trying the more unconventional flavours, so far, they’ve been great! I’m especially keen on their butter chicken pizza, but then again, if you aren’t feeling adventurous, their Hawaiian and Pepperoni pizzas are pretty darn good.

Even worse than Fresh Slice. Do yourself a favor and go to literally any other pizza joint. The crust here is spongy and damp; the cheese is slimy, fluffy, and indigestible. Taste is like something you expect from the«personal-size» microwaved pizza at a kids theme park. This pizza has gone way downhill since pir2 has moved to the new Nest building. There are so many exciting pizza varieties in the world, yet UBC chooses to provide its students with these lard-sponge cheesepie fartbombs. For shame!

Best pizza on campus, though the competition is admittedly limited. Good variety of pies from standard pepperoni and margarita to some more exploratory options like perogi and cheeseburger, both of which were pretty good. Vegan and gluten free options available. Slices are $ 2.50 and fairly standard size. The new location in The Nest has lots of natural light and a clean, modern design, which makes it much more inviting than the location in the old SUB. It’s owned and operated by the AMS(i.e. it’s not a private pizza chain), which I appreciate.

I had been eating pizza at this restaurant since 1994. The quality and value at the new location is shocking. I had a pepperoni slice today that was about a third of the size of the old slices. It was fine, but my choices were pepperoni and margarita. The old location not only had actually large slices, but had amazing choices like Gouda and mushroom. This is just another example of changes for the worse. Costs being cut, prices going up. Nothing special anymore. But hey, there’s no competition!

While I was exploring the new sub I came across the newly built Pie R Squared — I reminisced the days when I used to eat their pizza in the old SUB(cough which was a week ago). I had to go in and try a slice, just for memories. I bumped into the chef and he said that everything was made using new recipes and formulas that he had been working on. I tried the perogi pizza which was an interesting combination on a pizza. They’ve got cheap, filling pizza with good amount of choices.
