I came here for dinner on a Tuesday night with some of my colleagues and had a fantastic experience. It does feel quite upscale due to the elegant furnishings and ambience, however I felt very much at home and the servers were warm and welcoming. Although some of my colleagues ordered starters, I decided to order a main and a dessert, opting for the Cornish Game Hen and then the berry sorbet. The food was delicious, especially the chicken which had a beautifully crispy skin(and I don’t normally eat the skin at all!). The sorbet was the best I have ever eaten and was flavourful and somehow creamy in texture. As I mentioned above, the servers were very attentive and didn’t mind that we stayed so late(we left an hour after closing). We asked them about some of the dishes and drinks and they gave us a thorough description of each one, even including their preferences and recommendations which we found valuable. Our drinks were always kept full and the bread for the table was a nice touch too. Overall, I had a truly great experience and can’t recommend it enough! If you’re looking for an upscale restaurant with friendly service and great food, this is the one for you!

So terribly disappointing. The food was actually very good(that’s what the 2 stars are for) but the service really killed the whole experience for me, so I can’t rate this place any higher. The inital order taking was almost a half hour from when we were seated and no drinks were offered in the meantime. No coffee or water refills unless we asked and even then, it was like pulling teeth to get anything in a reasonable amount of time. The only time the waitress actually paid any attention to me or smiled was when I was paying my bill with the credit card machine. I guess her last ditch effort at ramping up her tip, but it was too little, too late for me by then. I don’t think that I’d go back.

[Monday night specials] What happens when you need a last minute reservation for a belated Mother’s day dinner? Well it could be a heck of a lot worse than Q4. This was the second time I’ve been to this place since the reincarnation of Quattro on 4th. The restaurant exudes a chic upscale feel without being overly pretentious. The lighting and décor make the place appropriate whether its Mothers day or Valentines day. We were fortunate enough to habe stumbled upon this place on their monday specials. They had a special menu with 8 different pasta dishes for $ 12. There was also some soup and salad appies for $ 5 apiece. To make it even sweeter, house wines and Peronis were also $ 5. If that isn’t value, I dont know what is. I ended up having the Penne Con Rucola but swapped the penne for linguine. I like long noodles. The beef tenderloin and mouthwateringly delicious and the tomato/arugula sauce complimented it well. It wasn’t the best pasta I’ve had but it was still very good. The portion size was maybe equivalent to a bit more than a big mac. I ended up having a house salad which was delicious which was covered in veggie chips(more like shavings) and drizzled with some sort of vinaigrette. The starter bread was also warm and soft — I think it was foccacia. Our server was quite friendly and was quick to fill drinks and bring our dishes around. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal at Q4 as did Mom(which is actually most important). Their pasta specials run Mondays and Tuesdays and for the price and quality, I’m amazed it wasn’t more packed. I’d definitely be back for their specials but at regular price, there are better options. Unless it’s a last minute belated Father’s day dinner. Just kidding.

It is supposed to be a high-end Italian restaurant. Food is good but not particularly exciting. Smaller menu varieties than similar restaurants. Service is slow but courteous. For that price, there are plenty of choices around town.

I had my 30th birthday here and rented out the whole restaurant for the night for 55 guests. Overall it couldn’t have been better. Patrick at the restaurant was highly professional and everything went as planned. The food was exactly what I asked for and expected and the service was top notch. Would highly recommend for a private party.

I was here last month for dinner. I got food poisoning after having their seafood pasta. My stomach reacted later at the night after dinner and I went to see a doctor the next morning. The doctor told me I got food poisoning and gestric bacterial infection. The doctor prescribed me with three days of antibiotics and I was sick for three days and could barely ate. Just wanted to give people a heads up if anyone wants to have seafood pasta there.

Disappointing overall! Where to start… Made reservations same day for an early Saturday dinner. Arrived a few minutes early and were seated promptly. The restaurant was empty with the exception for one other larger party that was being seated as we walked in. The space itself quite pretty. Classy without being stuffy, and well spaced out so you don’t feel cramped. I have dined at the Whistler location a few times, but I have to say this location feels much more chic. All that being said: our server, however, was no where to be found for quite some time. He walked right by our table a number of times, checking on the large party beside us, without even making eye contact or asking us if we wanted something to drink. When our drink and appy order was finally taken, it was slow going to get anything on the table. We were ordering off the regular menu as well as ordering wine, so I was a little annoyed that we were being continually passed over by our server. The appy platter is my absolute favorite. I know the items change depending on what the kitchen has, but this time around it was meh. The marinated mushrooms and bocconcini was delicious as usual, the prawns we over cooked and rubbery. I think they had probably been sitting for quite some time. We both ordered the lobster carbonara and were both disappointed. Although it was a pretty good sized portion, there was very little lobster in the servings. The sauce was a decent carbonara, creamy and buttery — just a little on the salty side for my taste. I will point out that our server did not do a quality check, nor did he ask if we were ok for drinks until we were ready to order our dessert. We finished the meal with a tiramisu which was average as well. All in all, I think the poor service killed the whole the experience. I would have spoken to the server about the food if he had around. It wasn’t a cheap meal either, so I am not entirely sure I can see myself at this restaurant any time soon.

My boyfriend took me to Q4 for my birthday. Our great experience started outside when we were greeted by a staff at valet parking. Then inside, a warm, tranquil setting, with friendly staff ready to greet us. We were seated right away, as we were on time for our reservation. We got Henry as our server, and he is great! He is so funny, and he took care of us throughout the night. Now the food. We ordered Calamari for appetizer. This is not your ordinary greasy calamari. It’s stuffed with lobster bisque as the sauce. OMG, it was soo good, Henry gave us more bread to enjoy the lobster bisque. I think I devoured it. =) For our mains, I ordered Spaghetti Q4 and my boyfriend ordered the Lobster Carbonara. Big servings, I couldn’t finish it… or maybe I ate too much bread for the Calamari! Spaghetti Q4 is rich in flavour, lots of garlic, minced chicken and had a bit of spice to it. It was Perfect. Lobster Carbonara was good too, but I definitely prefer my plate better. We got complimentary sparking wine for my birthday, and it was just a perfect way to end a great meal. I can’t think of anything to complain about this place, but I’ll definitely go back!!!

Prosecco Sundays! $ 15 bux for bottomless Prosecco cocktails. The restaurant is very well situated and is set up well to handle parties large and small. Their brunch /lunch menus included pasta, eggs Benny, salad, and other classics like bangers and mash. I had the spaghetti carbonara. Well made, flavored and was the perfect portion size. Service was great and were attentive without being overbearing. Definitely a new must-go for Sunday brunches in the Kits area!

When you have a colleague from LA who wants to meet another colleague of yours in Vancity and they have never met but are part of a mutual admiration society you must come to Q4, sit on the patio, have beers and wine and carpaccio and chill like you are on Rodeo Drive. top notch service, lovely spot on Broadway and great food make Q4 one of my new spots on the West Side. g ps I never would have imagined me sitting on this patio, but thanks to my hommie Cristi Cooke, I am now a fan of Q4!

I dined in the private dining room with a large party of 20 for a birthday party. The waiter offered an antipasto VIP platter for the entire group. Thinking it was complimentary we were very pleased, unfortunately we were wrong, it was $ 25 each person and my wife didn’t even have any. It was good for people that liked antipasto. It really sounded like he was giving it to us for free, since we ordered at least $ 1000 worth of wine. That wasn’t the main issue, the menu was limited due to a dine out promotion so I ended up ordering the pork belly because their was nothing else I wanted to have. It ended up being dry and tasteless, and for $ 36 it wasn’t worth it. I rather have roasted fatty pork at a Chinese noodle house for $ 8. $ 208 later and only having 3 drinks, it was a complete rip off.

3.5 stars. I had never been to the previous location so I don’t have anything to compare to. Valet is available but there’s also free parking on the streets adjacent to Broadway. Some girlfriends and I came in on a regular night. Main entrance is through the bar on one side, and there’s a large private room on the other side with a separate entrance. It’s quite dim but not terrible — i.e. you can still read your menu. Nice single bathrooms and the seating is comfortable — I liked our table that was part chairs and part curved booth. The menu is quite small but the food quality was decent. It’s not one of my favorite places in town but it’s a nicer upscale place with a mixed crowd. The bread service is excellent — mix of fresh foccacia and regular white with oil/vinegar– loved the foccacia… I definitely got my share of carbs! Had the beef carpaccio to start — lovely. Very thinly sliced and topped with fresh parmesan and herbs. My only complaint is that I thought they overdid it with the cheese… I actually scraped some of it off! Otherwise great tastes and textures. Would order this again. It went well with the bread. Had the sablefish main. this was only OK. I love sablefish and they did a nice job in keeping the buttery smooth texture, but the fish was lacking some flavor. The mushrooms were totally bland on the side. We all ordered different desserts to share. Dessert portions were huge, especially the tiramisu. Sampled their tiramisu, ice cream, trifle, another dish with wafers and berries. Desserts were average. Nice consistent service throughout the evening. Shared a bottle of wine at the table. Dinner ran about $ 60pp withiout drinks… probably closer to $ 80 pp with the alcohol. Overall average for its price range. Decent place to go out for a nice dinner if you want to stay out of downtown.

They moved to this location in mid-Jun and the new design with buzzy bar, private wine room and patio pretty nice. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. The dishes were great and dinner was so enjoyable. Beef Carpaccio — it could melt in my mouth Q4 meatballs — so tender and decilious Calamari panzanella — fresh salad and perfert match with calamari Spaghetti Q4 the classic — quite spicy but tasty, it had so much garlic. Striploin steak and frites — it served in reasonable size and cooked perfectly. Sablefish –It’s so fresh and smooth Cornish game hen — full-flavored and mellowed. Tiramisu — Big portion, creamy and yummmmmmmy Chocolate Mousse — presented nicely, mousse so smooth and raspberries so sweet

I went to Q4 last night for their $ 10 Pasta Monday. It’s been a while since my last visit at the Unilocal UYE two years ago and I think it’s really stepped up it’s game. I’ve only ever had the $ 10 pasta(it’s hard to have anything else when this is such a good deal) but the quality of that speaks highly to the rest of the menu. The service, ambiance and overall quality of the food is nothing short of semi casual, Italian fine dining. We started with the Bufala Mozzarella e Melanzane, which was tomato slices, balsalmic reduction, big slices of bufalo mozzarella, on top of panko crusted eggplant — $ 18. The mozzarella melted in your mouth, and was definitely the best part of this starter. I had the spaghetti quattro, which is their signature pasta dish. It is made up of black beans, ground chicken, tomato sauce and chillies. Normally, I wouldn’t go for spaghetti, but I was convinced by die hard Quattro fans, and the dish did not disappoint. It is a very unique take on the traditional spaghetti and the flavours and heat are unparalleled. It’s a little greasy, but that just leaves plenty of room for foccacia dipping. Oh, their foccacia is also really good. Super rosemary-y and salty with big chunks of rock sea salt. You can also ask for some of their homemade bread sticks too. My friend had the seafood linguini, with scallops, and dill in a cream sauce. I had a taste and it was also excellent — a mild flavour, but that could just be in contrast to my spaghetti dish. They have 10 different $ 10 pasta dishes to choose from and I’m looking forawrd to trying them all, especially the Fettuccine Ghiottone — fettuccine with minced chicken, in a brandy cream!

Stumbling upon this place on a quiet Monday night, we were surprised to find this place full. It was only then I remembered that it was $ 10 pasta night. Not sure if it’s normally like this, but I found the place to be very loud. There were several large groups, and as well, they were blasting Christmas music. I felt like I had to shout out to talk to my friend sitting across the table. For food, we started off with a Radicchio bocconcini-grilled fresh radicchio wrapped mozzarella and prosciutto in a cherry vinaigrette. This was good, but nothing spectacular. My pasta was a Linguine Frutti di Mare-linguine with the fish of day in a dill cream sauce. I didn’t love the pasta-the fish was a bit overcooked, it was chopped up and then cooked with the cream. It was an ok dish for me. For $ 10 pasta, I really shouldn’t be complaining. The service was good throughout the night. Not sure if the pasta is worth making the trek though.

Q4 is a fancy place, but I was lucky enough to find a Groupon for the restaurant! They have a great pre-fixe menu just for Groupon and they allow you use the deal at the same table! Our reservation was for 8pm on a Friday night and the place was very lively. We started with the complimentary bread(4⁄5) — it’s bread, you can’t go wrong! would have been better warm though! Appetizer was the Seared Albacore Tuna(5⁄5)(Pink peppercorn & rock salt crusted albacore tuna, finished w/mango salsa, fresh avocado & lime) — amazing until the last bite! I wanted more! Entrees we ordered: 1) Fettuccine Tartufate with wild mushrooms in a porcini cream, finished with shaved parmigiano reggiano and truffle essence(5⁄5) — this fettuccine puts other Italian restaurants to shame! I was really jealous that my sister had a better entrée than me! –when they said wild mushroom, they meant it! My sister was able to taste the woodear 2) 10oz New York strip loin with extra virgin olive oil, a cherry tomato, asparagus & goats cheese salad(3⁄5) –the steak and sauce was just ok, nothing that blew my mind away like the fettuccine Desserts we ordered: 1) Q4 Cheese Plate(4/5)(A selection of Italian cheeses and accompaniments) — generous portion! we ended up taking some of the cheese home 2) Ciliege Filate Candied phyllo pastry layered w/whipped marscapone, vanilla bean, sour cherries(4⁄5) — I’ve never had anything like it Overall everything about the dining experience was great. The service was great, they didn’t rush you out after your meal. The portions were generous, everyone in my party had enough leftovers for lunch the next day! Even if you don’t have a Groupon or deal for Q4, I highly recommend trying them if you are in the Vancouver/Kitslano area because you won’t regret it! The outdoor seating is in a private patio, which makes for intimate conversation with your party no matter how small or large.

Service: very friendly and upbeat. The server was sociable and charming which made the experience worth while. He even placed the napkin on my lap, you don’t see that every day. Décor: Was nice and classy. It was a very nice shade of pink. It was a cross between blood orange and salmon color, very pleasing on the eyes and on the mood. I sat outside and the area wasn’t too exposed as there was greenery to give you a little bit of privacy. The bathroom had a heated toilet seat which rocked. I’ve never seen that before. I wanted to sit on that toilet forever. Price: I had a Groupon for the 3 course prix fixed meal which is normally $ 60, however, it cost $ 30. Not sure if I would’ve gone the effort of paying $ 60 per person, not even for a date. I would come back on the $ 10 pasta nights. Food: Seared Albacore Tuna: Pink peppercorn and rock salt crusted albacore tuna, finished with mango salsa, fresh avocado and lime. Normally I would never eat tuna that wasn’t cooked all the way through, I have a paranoia about this, however, decided to go outside my comfort zone and just go for it. I am glad that I did. The tuna was moist and tender and so awesome. The peppercorn brought the flavor of the tuna into the spotlight without overpowering. The mango salsa was disappointing as they could’ve used sweeter mangos to compliment and offset the pink peppercorn. 4 out of 5 Oven roasted wild BC sockeye salmon with an orange and balsamic drizzle: The salmon was very tender, moist and flaky, cooked to perfection. As for the orange glaze, I smelt it, however, didn’t taste anything. It was a major disappointment. They used a wide assortment of colorful vegetables that both looked pleasing to the eyes and pallet, a rainbow of vegetables. The mash potatoes were simple yet mildly spiced. 4 out of 5 Ciliege Filate; Candied phyllo pastry layered with whipped marscapone, vanilla bean and sour cherries. Dessert for me is always the best part, however, other than the vanilla bean marscapone, the rest was disappointing. I was looking for this to be the star of the show, however, it did very little to impress me. It’s not an elegant dessert that you can eat with your hands, therefore, you have to use your hands which in a 5 star restaurant can make you feel awkward. I will give props to the nicely marinated cherries which was way better than the cherry sauce on my tart at the Irish Heather a few weeks ago, however, it still wasn’t enough to carry the dish forward in terms of excellence. 3.5 out of 5

Ah, it was our last night in Vancouver, and Jamie W. and I immediately zeroed in on the fact that Quattro offers C$ 10 pasta nights on Mondays and Tuesdays. Too hard to resist, we went blazing in the night to the suburban-feeling Kitsilano area to find it nearly vacant at 8PM except for one young family with a couple of overly rambunctious kids. Family friendly is not how I would describe the décor, as the ambiance is darkly Italianate like a ristorante in a Venetian alley. Jamie W. and I were seated next to the window facing the small street-side patio. It was nice except for the occasional kid who would bang his forehead on the glass staring at what we were eating. Although the slapstick factor was funny, the resulting bump made the brat scream into the arms of his indulgent, inattentive mother. The salads, both $ 8.95, were quite good. Jamie went for the classic Insalata Cesare which was gratefully not overdressed(see photo). On the other hand, I had the Insalata Arugula, quite a busy concoction mixed with juliennes of pear, shaved parmigiano reggiano and pink peppercorn in a honey vinaigrette(see photo). The pasta dishes were pretty good. Jamie ordered the Pasta di Nonno, the pasta of the day, which that evening was a gnocchi mixed with salmon, basil and shaved parmigiano reggiano in a light tomato cream sauce(see photo). I ordered the more traditional Spaghetti Bolognese, although what came out were pasta seashells mixed with minced beef, veal and pork in a red wine tomato ragout and shaved parmigiano reggiano. No real complaint there except the sauce had a slightly overcooked taste. We were sufficiently sated and didn’t try any of their desserts which look to be their speciality. Definitely worth a visit for a nice Italian meal in the Great White North. Hey kid, watch your head… oh never mind. FOOD — 4 stars… homemade pasta nicely turned AMBIANCE — 4 stars… a little too dark but certainly fitting for the cuisine SERVICE — 3 stars… nice enough since it was near closing TOTAL — 4 stars… coming to Kitsilano… come here

I love the atmosphere of this restaurant. The tiled floors and dark woods feel very Mediterranean. The lighting is low, and the service is prompt. My water was always filled, and the server was very helpful with the menu. It’s a bit of an extravagant– but if you’re celebrating then this is a good place to dine. Another table near by was a wedding party enjoying their rehearsal dinner. I tried the Fusilli for my meal. It was mixed with beef, tomatoes, and arugula. It was not a lot of food– but presented very nicely on the plate.
