I ordered a shawarma plate for lunch today and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. First of all, the portion is small, one spoon of hummus and one spoon of salad. And this is not the worst part — the food had a surprise in it, hair! I will never eat there again.

Great shop, inexpensive food for the location, brought there gift cards for 100 $, got 15 $ back+ 10% off each purchase. Hope this shop doesn’t close. Going to be my go-to places after a full-day study in the library.

I don’t know what their other food is like but I wouldn’t want anyone to try the shawarma plate, not even my worst enemies. I got 1 single spoon of watered down tzatziki with a hair in it, the pita was stale and the chicken was dry. It was all bad, so bad.

Fantastic service. The lady behind the counter was super polite and made sure she had my order correct before she started making it. there are two types of meat you can pick from. beef or chicken. I chose beef. Lots of toppings to pick from and I wasn’t feeling cheese so I was told my original order of the«Greco» could be changed to «Arabo» which would save me some money. Yummy meal and I would come back but sadly I don’t live in Vancouver.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Also, I should note, I have never written a review, but downloaded the Unilocal app just so I could write this one: I had the shawarma. It was not shawarma; it was terrible. People need to know this so they don’t get ripped off, sick or worse yet, both! Also, I completely embrace cultural and language differences, but if these people are going to own a shop in Canada, they may want to consider learning just the basics of English. For this reason, ordering alone was near impossible. Getting back to the paramount issue, the food. Take my word for it. My girlfriend and I each got the shawarma plate and could not bear to eat more than two bites. I will never be back.

New owners or franchisee? Very good food. Friendly staff. Beef and chicken is flavourful. Been here 4 times and will continue!

Really terrible shwarma — pretty sure I got food poisoning from it. I couldn’t even finish it it was so gross and I threw up immediately after staggering out.

I looked regretfully at my clam chowder. I could imagine this is the kind of filth they serve you when they go to prison. I didn’t even bother tasting it because through evolution my advanced animal instincts can detect poison and subconsciously stay away from it. The wrap I ate was filled with large chunks of raw onion and chicken scraps. The scraps tasted like something they stole from the pack of stray dogs in the back alley. Maybe it was the stray dogs in the alley they were serving me. This meal was the worst meal I have had in 10 years. Absolutely disgusting.

I really should say I like this restaurant. I have never tried this type of food before, but I would definitely come back later. I was not interested in pizza or sandwich or hamburger, so I ordered the SKK rice plate. To my surprise, with lettuces, tomatoes, mayo or ranch sauce, the chicken on the rice were cooked very well. I’m that kind of guy interested in trying new thing, so I feel good there. The cashier was really nice and we were chilling around. I enjoyed my experience there.

Went for a walk up Robson with a friend while our kids were in gym class. We wanted to grab a quick bite and walked past various weird and/or dodgy looking places. We walked past SKK and it looked interesting — an Italian take on middle eastern pitas and wraps. They advertised their«Turco» pita as being on sale, which sold it for me. I’m always a sucker for a bargain. Went inside and there appeared to be no one working. The lights in the kitchen were dimmed, and there was a couple waiting in line in front of us. Eventually, someone walked in from the kitchen and asked the people in front what they wanted. I noticed that she wore a plastic glove on one hand and not the other. Should have raised red flags, but I was hungry and didn’t have much time and figured how hard could it be to make a wrap. Pretty hard, apparently. It took about 25 minutes for the lone employee to take food orders from four customers, collect payment(using the non-gloved hand), and then make the food. They ran out of pita so just gave us a tortilla cut into triangles for our hummus. My friend had asked for nothing whole wheat. The tortilla arrived and was… whole wheat. The wraps had limp pickles and cabbage(not pickled cabbage) and fairly fresh onion and tomato. The meat had the consistency of rubber. The sole employee brought my wrap and my friend’s salad on one tray and set it down in front of him, and then brought his wrap and set it down in front of me. Since the wraps looked the same(he had ordered a Greek one, but since they had run out of pita, they used the same tortilla mine was made with), we only discovered we had the wrong food after taking first bites. I had to ask the sole employee for the hummus I had ordered, and then had to ask for the pita… no, tortilla. It was a pathetic experience through and through. Horrible service, bad food, and, bizarrely, they were playing the same song on the stereo over and over and over and over again. I counted it seven times before we were done. I’m surprised that it’s an international chain. I never ever ever want to go back to this place again.

The«shawarma» was disgusting, the salad was wilted lettuce and pickles from a can. The rice was cold and sticky and the sauce was some sort of mystery blend of mayo and other ingredients. Overall, one of the most disappointing attempts at shawarma I’ve ever tried. Stay away.

Super weird low budget branding for an ‘international’ chain but a very good sandwich. Had their greco or maybe the other one, with cabbage, tomato, onion, chicken shwarma, etc., etc. and it was really good. Excellent pita, very tasty meat, and all ingredients super fresh. Came with a side, I opted for hummus which was really creamy and tasty, but the accompanying ‘pita’ bread was basically a herbed tortilla which was not great. Service was fine, dunno y all the groans. Also, who cares that its Middle Eastern by way of Italy? It’s bog-standard Lebanese sandwiches, vutzeverz

What??? I was and I am still confused… I SWEAR… The first time I came in it was PASTA and pizza on the menu… I tried their PIZZA but the crust was tasting like frozen crust… So I was like… Ok I will come back for trying their pasta then… I did but, but, but… NOMORE pasta on their menu… Instead… Sandwich like pitas, shawarmas ETC… What happen??? Anyway it was a turn-off the first time… So now two words… It’s OVER.

Been curious about this place for the last month every time I walked by and saw the«Opening Soon» signs. Was actually looking forward to it. Then came the chance to give it a go. The service was terrible. The three kids, yes maybe 17 year old kids were beyond unprofessional. The counter girl asked the guy making the sandwich if she could try a small piece of Falafel. Puts it in her mouth, makes a horrible face and then spits it out. Then the whole staff starts laughing and giving us weird looks. Always nice to see a staff member eat a piece of your dinner, throw up a scowl and spit it out before sliding her hand across her mouth before wrapping up your dinner to go. That and the side you get is literally a tablespoon and a half of a portion of Taboulleh. Simple as that. You’ll never get another dime out of me and I’ll be sure to tell everyone I know who enjoys this type of food, to head up the street to Babylon Café where they actually appreciate your business and serve up an amazing product. This place might be alright had the owners screened the new hires more thoroughly. I would have thought a new business opening up an establishment on some of the highest priced retail space in North America might have tried a little harder coming out of the gate.

Maybe I shouldn’t write a review… I would give it 2 stars, but I really liked the staff there so 3 it is! I see the word Italy on their storefront and I immediately think Panini /Pasta. Instead I’m bombarded with pitas, shawarmas, and hummus — all of which I love btw. Personally, Italian style Middle-Eastern Food is a swing and a miss for DT Vancouver, but I bet there are many others who don’t care as much. I prefer going to Fantastico 2001 Pizza(just down the block) for their craving-crunching pizza, or any of the bazillion authentic middle eastern shawarma joints around the corner. I got a Chicken Shawarma Pita and it was good, don’t get me wrong. It’s just not Italian enough for me. A simple case of mistaken identity.

So a co-worker and I have been stalking this place since we saw the signs go up, he said this is a chain from Italy. After all his praise, I was worried I was going to be let down. I must say, I was pleasantly surprised with this little shop. The first thing that got me was the smell, my god my mouth was watering instantly. I was a little overwhelmed at first, as they serve up a variety of pizza, sandwiches, wraps and yummy looking shwarma plates all under one roof. I went for a pizza, which came as a personal size instead of a slice. I went for the four cheese chicken and my co-worker had the SKK beef. We took these back to the office and shared with co-workers. The sizes are perfect for sharing, but plenty big enough to satisfy one person if you were entering the much feared hanger zone. The pizza itself is friggen delicious. The crust is *not* thin, it is thicker and fluffy without being chewy or dry. The sauce was amazing — this coming from someone who usually hates all things pizza sauce/marinara. Toppings were evenly and generously spread over the portion, but it wasn’t greasy like a lot of pizza places. Needless to say, these things were gobbled up in an instant. The best part? 50% off any one menu item opening special. If you are at the Library(or one of the many surrounding pubs) ditch the idea of McDonalds and come to SKK for a snack instead!
