Kind of a hipster joint, they only serve poached eggs. I was kind of looking for a two-eggs over easy breakfast with coffee kind of place, but I stayed and it was OK. The price for one poached egg with some mushrooms and potatoes(instead of English muffin) and a cup of coffee was $ 13. Rather pricey, but the quality was good. The egg was poached properly, the hollandaise was delicious and the potatoes were interesting with lemon and cilantro. The coffee was good but no refills were offered and the waitress didn’t drop by to check how things were till the meal was over. The cheque didn’t come so I had to go to the till to pay out. The dining room has been renovated to almost comfortable status(the previous restaurant at this location was a very seedy dive), the chair I sat in was some sort of high-stool at an even higher bar-type of table, but the seat/table height ratio wasn’t right and the stool itself was an uncomfortable wicker-type of thing. The service was brisk but not particularly attentive. The men’s washroom was filthy and dark but the soap dispenser and towels and faucets worked, so I was able to wash my hands in a satisfactory sanitary manner. There is no parking, and street parking at 10:00 am on a Friday seems hard to come by so take the bus. The food was very good, which is why I give it 4 stars instead of 2 or 3. The dining room appeared to be pretty clean, so I’m comfortable the hygiene of the place was acceptable, despite the horrifying washroom.

As an American I was so excited to have a Canadian breakfast and it was good! The pouched eggs were amazing, syrup was great and the chicken and waffles were the best I’ve tried! The only down side was the pancakes-so much eggs in them that they tasted very«off» and heavy. Great customer service and a cool atmosphere with parking(which is hard to find in Vancouver)!

I went around 10am on a Thursday with my mom. There was no wait, the server was very welcoming and helpful, giving us some options that were not on the listed menu(half order of waffles/French toast) to better suit us. The food came very very quickly and was absolutely delicious. This is the best breakfast I’ve ever had. The eggs Benny was perfect, the French toast was crispy and sweet, and the hash was absolutely divine. 10⁄10 recommend!

I’m gonna give it 3 stars because the food is pretty damn good. But holy Christ is the place boring. Really and truly. I’m just going to go ahead and insult everyone and everything in a single sentence: the place has no vibe, the staff are like characterless hipster rejects, the décor is flat, and the customers are whiny, self-entitled bitches(who have no style). Done.

First time I ever ventured into highly sought after brunch spot, I was fooled and I never even got to eat. With an hour wait and a hostess that seemed a little overwhelmed with putting names down on paper(she never even got around to me), I knew I was in for a disappointment. I was especially unimpressed with a patron pretending to be a someone else who had clearly walked away from their reservation. I know the hostess knew it too(everyone knew it) although she didn’t feel she could question her about it and seated her anyway. Not. Cool. Needless to say I had a great brunch at the Slocan, waited 10 minutes for a table and didn’t leave smelling like truffle oil.

About as good as it gets for breakfast in Vancouver. Their specials always sound super tasty… but its hard to stray from their classic eggs benedict. Its just so good! Also, their house-made spicy ketchup can’t be beat. The vibe here is pretty low-key; almost erring on the side of dive-y. But that’s ok — the classic sumo-wrestler/hotdog artwork on the walls more than makes up for it. The irreverent vibe of the place makes it a memorable dining experience.

I am a sucker for a perfectly poached egg and this is the first time in a long time someone got it perfectly right. I thought I’d be in heaven over the truffle hashbrowns but really felt like it didn’t marry well with the rest of my meal, somehow. I’ll probably try again next time. They look crispier than they are. Their hollandaise is also on point. So many places managed to screw up this perfect little sauce… but I was smitten. Loved their house hot sauce too!

I had been meaning to try this place after reading all the reviews. Finally got a chance to try the one on Hastings. The interior was nice, nothing special. The service was helpful, but I got there first thing in the morning so they weren’t too busy yet. I ordered the Chicken and waffles. I ordered it without the gravy like someone on Unilocal recommended. The chicken was very crispy, and the waffles were good. Overall good experience, would like to try there other locations. I would recommend this place to friends.

Expensively delightful. Regardless of spending one hour of my work time to afford Chicken and Waffles and a green Pineapple Mint Smoothie it was all worth it. If you have not tried their chicken ‘n waffles yet it is a must. Great comfort food on a rainy day. The chicken gravy combined with the real Canadian maple syrup gave this dish an already amazing edge. The chicken was light a fluffly crisp. The pinapple smoothie, although green, was a delightful wake up to a mid afternoon droll. It even has spinach, but all you could take was a dalliance of pinapple with a hint of mint. What a smooth drink. But beware parking is without sense and and the doorway is always full. So come prepared for a long adventure before sitting at your table. You won’t regret your time and money spent.

I am a fan! I love breakfast and honestly, these were some of the best eggs benny I’ve had in a while! There was a long line up(10 – 15 mins wait) given that it was Saturday morning 11am, the hungover zombies and the young families were just walking in! We got seated pretty quickly and I was impressed by the service and the speed of the staff! I mean we got seated and got our water, coffee and menus in less than 5 minutes. The waitress was over in the next few minutes to take our orders, even though I wasn’t ready but I liked the fact she was quick! I’ve always been doubtful of hasbrowns because a lot of places don’t get them crispy enough or flavorful enough. I am sure as you can see from the photo, the hahbrowns were really really well done and I loved EM! I was very skeptical about getting them but was convinced by the waitress! and it was a good decision(note, my friend found them to be a little too salty but I loved em). The pork belly was served over a slice of apple which tasted amazing! I loved loved the pork belly fatty and crispy! Amazing rich flavors with the eggs benny! The staff was quick and got our bill right away after we were done but didn’t force us to leave! LOL. We did sit there and talk for like 20 minutes after breakfast, felt bad because the line up was long but it was worth it! I would highly recommend this place and definatly try the lemon truffle hasbrown!

I like the atmosphere of this place. It’s comfortable and classic diner style breakfast venue. The service is fairly fast & efficient. I’m surprised that the dining crowd is quite substantial on a Monday morning before 10am. It’s clear people dig this place for its food as it’s not at the most convenient location(on Clark & Hastings). I ordered the chicken & waffles w/a side of bacon. You can also choose an egg should you want that. This is a solid meal choice. I like the topping of maple syrup, but I could do without the gravy on the chicken. Next time, I’d order the same dish without gravy & just with maple syrup. I like the diner style refillable coffee. It does the job and suits the atmosphere. The cost of the chicken & waffles is a little steep at $ 13.50 + $ 3 for bacon or an egg. If you want a cheaper option, they offer a «do it yourself» menu for $ 10 – 12. You can choose a topping, bread type, 1 – 2 eggs and sauce. Apparently, they make great poached eggs. Overall, this is a good place to come for breakfast. I’d return, but it may not be my first choice.

I went to Yoilk’s for brunch with a few girlfriends. We ordered 3 dishes to share since we couldn’t decide on what we wanted to order! We had the friend chicken and waffles, eggs benny with ham and lemon truffle oil hashbrowns and the french toast. Everything was amazing and we weren’t disappointed! I was most impressed with the lemon truffle oil hashbrowns and the french toast. The french toast was the perfect crispiness and came with this amazing caramel sauce. I don’t usually like sweet things but this caramel sauce was perfect and not overly sweet at all! I will definitely go back and try the other items on the menu. Note: there can be loooong waits! They will take your name on the list and if you leave your phone number they will text you about 10 min before your table is ready :)

Probably the best breakfast spot I have ever been to. I got the chicken and waffles, with French toast as a side and it was amazing. Great service, great food, cool atmosphere. It’s a popular spot so anticipate a wait but it’s well worth it. Only problem would be the parking.

This place has been on my radar for quite some time, and I’m happy to finally have gotten the chance to try it. The quoted wait was longer than the actual wait, but either way, I think its worth it. The menu is simple but since part of it is «build your own Benedict», its actually larger than it appears! I got the two eggs Benedict with hollandaise, mushrooms and the lemon truffle potatoes. I wasn’t too impressed by the potatoes but the benedicts were awesome! Eggs were cooked perfectly and all the flavors complimented each other very well! Nothing overpowered the other. My friend ordered the chicken and waffles and those were also thoroughly enjoyed. Meat was moist, batter was crispy, and the waffles were crispy soft, and by the time we were done, nothing was left on either plate. Yum. Oh, and I have to say, we had the best waitress here. She was super sweet, cheery, grounded, and took care of everything in a careful and timely fashion… Its rare to find someone like that in crazy busy establishments like these, but she was awesome and I wish I had gotten her name to give her props.

We went for brunch today and had a great experience. Yes, there was a wait. We expected that, so we weren’t put off. We both had the Special, an eggs benny with avocado fritter. It was delicious, and I loved that I could get only one egg(I’m not a big eater) while my husband was able to get two. He got the fruit plate, I got the truffled hash browns — both were great. They had regular drip coffee and then cold-brew specialty drinks, which was a bit strange. I asked for a latte, and ended up with an iced one. It was delicious, but just unexpected. They lost a star because they only had 2% milk or almond milk(not skim) and they served only cold lattes, which I imagine won’t be fun in winter. We sat at the bar and chatted with our server who was super friendly. All in all a great vibe and I’d definitely go back.

I can only speak to my brunch experience here, and I must say I am highly impressed with the scrumptious food and the excellent service(our server was helpful and efficient, at least). Chicken and waffles: I’ve had this ridiculous creation at other places before, and yet I was pleasantly blown away by this dish. Very meaty and tender fried chicken lying atop decadent waffles that had enough structure to hold up against the mouthwatering syrup and gravy mix. Hashbrowns with lemon and truffle oil: They were nice. I must declare my bias towards all things potato, however. French toast with bangers: Our server recommended this, and I’m so glad I trusted her. They’re unlike any French toast you’ve had before. They’re deep fried so they’re crispy, and served with delicious maple syrup. The bangers served with grainy mustard complemented the sweetness of this dish perfectly. The wait for weekend brunch is about 20 – 45 minutes, but it’s well worth the wait, in my tastebuds’ opinion.

This place is one of those trendy breakfast places, like the Red Wagon and Bön’s off Broadway. It has the same hipster vibe that the other two have. Went here this morning with mom for some breakfast. We got there just in time, there was no line up but shortly after we were seated a line formed. On a Thursday, crazy! The interior has a very plain, but retro vibe to it. The walls are covered with paintings, I remember seeing a couple of Spock-related ones which added some fun to the room. I ordered the waffles and bacon with a side of fruit, mom ordered a poached egg on an English muffin with the white cheddar and bacon, along with a side of truffle fries. We also ordered coffee and orange juice for drinks. I liked my waffles and the bacon was hot which was nice. Mom enjoyed her egg, although it was hard poached not soft but it still tasted fine. If you come here, I definitely recommend the truffle oil hashbrowns. They are delicious and have a sprinkling of sea salt along with chopped chives to accompany them, which adds a nice flavour. I will say my least favourite part was receiving the bill. It is very expensive for what it is. I paid almost eight bucks for orange juice and my mom paid $ 3.25 for coffee… it basically came to twenty bucks for each of us when you can go to other breakfast places and pay twenty bucks for two or more people. I’m glad I checked it out, I enjoyed my meal but the prices deter me from coming back in the future. Worth a stop if you’re free on a weekday. Weekends there are lineups out the door.

Good food. Kind of pricey for what it is. They have like 5 different hot sauces that I really enjoyed trying. They have a hot sauce that is actually hot. Their hollandaise is nice quality too. But nothing here is too amazing that if bother coming back. Still searching for a perfect breakfast spot.
