Fireside Grill

Wine list had a great selection. Menu had lots of good choices and was very well prepared. Our party of 4 all enjoyed our dinner other than the fact that each of portions were very small. We ended going somewhere else afterwards for additional food. So we are some what torn as to whether we will return. Good good but portions aren’t calling my name.

Just reading the menu was a delicious experience. Thanks actual food that followed did not disappoint.

We go to this restaurant quite often for lunch and occasionally dinner. Their portabella sandwich is excellent! For dinner the appys are my favourite… Muscles and calamari are both very tasty. Also lamb pasta is always delicious. However, I was disappointed with the salmon with pesto and polenta flavoured with goat cheese… Salmon was too dry and the flavours did not go well together… All in all the dish was dry, dry, dry. I love salmon but I would not order that again. Service was excellent and the ambiance was great too!

Excellent dinner for us as a couple and many family groups clearly enjoyed it as well. The restaurant was not excessively noisy at all, just a busy, happy buzz. Beautiful old lodge feel to the surroundings. Food was superb. Nice cheese plate to begin, halibut dish prepared just right as was the seafood linguine. Finished with the dessert to share. The mix of different sweets was fun to explore. Service was prompt, pleasant and professional.

Great place! Stumbled upon it on Unilocal and what a great choice!:) appetizers were awesome, entrée even better! Steak cooked to perfection, too full for desert, ordered it to go, I’ll try it later when not so full! Only one problem it’s so busy that it was very noisy and they sat a family with two very young kids literally right beside use we might aswell been sharing same table it was that close:(besides that great place friendly service ! Would go back but interested to see what else Victoria has to offer!

This is the best restaurant I have ever eaten at. The main dish, I got the new your steak with the sautéed tiger prawns, was made to perfection. I personally gave my complements to the chef. The desert was amazing the desert was fantastic I have never had a better desert. To top off the evening the staff was amazing! brava fireside grill!

Dinner on the Patio just because turned out to be a delightful dining experience. I chose a 3 course meal. Staff where attentive and friendly ensuring we enjoyed our visit. The pork tenderloin was cooked and plated to perfection. Would definitely recommend for a special occasion or just a «let’s go out tonight» dinner. Well done!

Whenever we feel in the mood for a meal out but not necessarily taking a chance on something new then it’s always FIRESIDE GRILL as our go to place. Perfect for a romantic dinner or getting together with friends. We love the «great room» which conjures up feelings of a manor house in England. Outdoor seasonal seating so nice beside the gardens. The food is consistent. It’s delicious, generous and healthy… in that they use local and organic when they can. The generous basket of homemade bread with whipped butter and the best house wine served by attentive staff get us in the mood for our mains. My favourite items are the large Cesar Salad and stewed lamb pasta. My husband often goes for the flat iron steak or the chicken with gorgonzola cheese. All delicious! We took a group of 30 people in for dinner and had the option of a private room and every single meal was praised and the service for 30 was efficient, quick and friendly. I highly recommend FG. There are price point selections and we didn’t find it over priced for the quality, service, and ambiance. Casual dress attire or dress up if you like!

A comfortable, attractive restaurant inside and out, with sprawling grounds, nice gardens, free parking, and a lovely outdoor patio with a fireplace. .. .
Oh, the food. .. . Ok, I’ve been eating here since it became Fireside Grill and have found consistent quality, creativity and value. You can tell the chef cares.
My go-​to lunch is the Applewood Smoked Chicken Breast and Quinoa Salad ($ 14.50). It’s healthy and flavourful with tomatoes and pea shoots. The skinless chicken is nicely smoked and makes it a filling dish. It’s topped with fresh blueberries in summer, thawed frozen blueberries in winter.
Saturday I chose the BBQ Pork and Utica Greens Wrap with tomato soup ($ 12), based entirely on the scent of wafting BBQ meat outside in the parking lot. It was the BBQ pulled pork and it tasted as tangy and good as it smelled. Also had saffron rice pilaf and tomatoes in the wrap, with mild chilies that added a nice warm finish. This wrap was big and addictive. The tomato soup was really delicious with veggies such as zucchini, beans, and grape tomatoes that would pop fresh in your mouth. A basket of bread is served after your order is taken.
In the summer, the patio is one of the best for al fresco dining, and to impress friends visiting Victoria. The three course dinner special ($ 23) is good value with thoughtful gourmet flavour combinations. The best braised short ribs I’ve ever had came as one of the specials a couple summers ago. .. I still remember.
Christmas time I hosted a luncheon for eight and everyone was happy with the dishes they ordered from beef carpaccio to salads to veggie pizza, paninis and calamari. The Christmas decoration in the main room was big and beautiful. The restaurant was full, yet our large table received friendly, timely and caring service, as I found last Saturday and all other times.

Very pleasant staff especially considering it was very busy on Saturday night as a function was taking place.
The service was quick and efficient and the food was exactly what we ordered and delicious, the portions were decent.

My husband and I had an excellent dinner here for our anniversary. The seafood chowder was probably the best I have ever had. It was loaded with clams, salmon, prawns and mussels. The calamari was good, with a light batter and two dipping sauces. The Kobe beef and crab burger was original and tasty.
If the weather is nice, opt for a table outside as the inside seating can get quite loud when busy. If it’s a cold day, try for one of the tables at a fireplace.
