Solid phở in Victoria — we were hunting for a lunch spot and really didn’t clue into the fact that a lot of Victoria places that aren’t brunch places are just not open on Sundays. Unilocal led us here, and luckily it was also nearby to where we had to be after lunch. The restaurant’s signage doesn’t match but if you look at the menus in the window they’ll say Phở Nay so you’ll know you’re in the right spot. Service was a little slow but I’m not sure if they were understaffed that day. We got the rare beef and tendon phở and the bun bo hue. My husband also had the Vietnamese Coffee because he was in dire need of caffeine. The coffee was nice and strong and the portion sizes of the noodles were pretty good. I liked the flavours and volume of meat in my BBH though it could be a wee bit spicier. Prices were pretty typical for a phở joint, in my opinion, since long gone are the days of the $ 6.50 noodle bowls(inflation, amirite?). Also assuming that they buy the same quality beef we all buy, beef prices are also higher than before so I can appreciate a premium so that I’m not eating gristle — I’m in total agreement with a certain celebrity chef who says just because a restaurant is Asian doesn’t mean it’s obligated to be cheap. Overall we were very satisfied with our meal and the little guava candies at the end added just that bit of sweet.

Good — wish there were a few more vegetarian/vegan options, but the ones I have tried have been excellent :). Bring cash, the times I’ve been there the machines have been down.

This place is just ok. Started with the spring rolls. Not great. Too much lettuce. I ordered the chicken phở and my husband ordered the veggie phở. The broth really did not have much flavor. The veggie phở had great veggies and plenty of them. The chicken phở had nice white meat chicken. It was not awful but not worth going to.

Felt bad for the owner/manager who was doing everything herself. I don’t think her staff showed up this day — she was very busy. Many dishes were left on tables, took 30 min to take our order. Spring rolls were overcooked and phở was too sweet, unfortunately. Didn’t get utensils/napkins until food arrived. Someone(owner’s husband?) was smoking right outside the restaurant which we could smell. Just wanted a simple meal and had no intention of writing a review. I chose this place because it had 4.5 star average reviews. Maybe today was just an off day.

YUM! This place is quality! Me and my husband and eat phở all the time and this is one of the better places. The owner was sooo kind to us! She was really friendly and talkative. We were so happy to support her business. :)

Bun Bo is good. The restaurant is nice with good hospitality. We came late @ half an hour before they close but still see a lot of smiles. However, this should not be the to-go-place for Phở.

Place is small, clean, and nice. The sign outside doesn’t match the name of the restaurant, but doesn’t matter. The water is good — means a big deal. If you can’t drink the water or it tastes funny, puts a big question on the quality of the food. The service is a little slow, but I came here on a national holiday, so might be why. Overall it was fine. I’m just used to placing an order as you walk in and they serve you about 2 min later. Wasn’t that fast, but it was fine for a sit down restaurant. The food is good. Very fresh ingredients. Their soup base is a bit sweeter than I’m used to, but overall, very satisfied.

I think I have a new favourite phở spot in the YYJ. Apparently the owner used to work at Phở Vy, and you can tell. The broth was darker than most and incredibly flavourful. But my favourite part, by far, was the inclusion of tripe and tendon in their ingredients… Options that are overlooked by most YYJ phở joints sadly. Can’t wait to try the rest of the items on their menu!

Easily my favourite Vietnamese place in Victoria. Very affordable. I tend to order either the #8 or 9 depending on whether I want shrimp or spring rolls but the lemongrass chicken is amazing so must be part of my meal. :) The service is very good and the portion sizes generous. If you plan to visit often get a stamp card for a discount on your 5th order and free 10th. :) Added Note: I’m not sure where Samantha G. eats that she found the prices too high. Everythig is about $ 10 to $ 12 and very well sized and delicious. I suppose that she didn’t actually order anything though explains why she might not know that. Maybe she thought it was fast food. Invalid review either way as everyone who actually orders gives it a 4 or 5.

I can’t really rate this quaint little place for PHO because I only go to these places when I need comfort food and that means beef noodle soup of any nationality. Phở Nay is not really easy to spot because the chef bought it from the previous owner and the name is not out front… yet. The noodle soup rates right up there with the other good ones I have had. Staff was really good. Cute too. Service and price, better than average. Rated among the best in Victoria but I can’t address that. I know I liked it and think the new owners should be given high marks. Give them a try. Worth it.

Haven’t actually eaten here. We sat down and decided the prices were too high and left. Just thought it was worth mentioning that you will not see«Phở Nay» on the overhead sign. They were just too lazy and cheap to change their sign(her words, not mine). Just look for 1012.

Best phở in Victoria, in my humble opinion. So much flavour, nice portions, and prices are fair for Victoria…

One of few if not only Vietnamese restaurants that make fried spring rolls using rice-flour wrappers, the authentic way. Excellent food at very good value for money

One of my favourite new phở places in Victoria. Beats out ALL of them. Their broth is probably one of the best I have ever had anywhere. I have been here a few times now and it has been spot on each time. I usually park in the view street parkade as it is free parking for the first hour, food comes out quick so it is more than enough time to eat and chat. Highly recommended is their bun bo hue – it is so flavourful and the perfect amount of spiciness. For regular phở, their meat portions are a good amount. I usually get the combination of flank, brisket, tendon and tripe. If you are really hungry, definitely get the large size, regular is pretty small compared to other phở places. Their viet iced coffee is really good too. At the end they hand out those yummy green melon candies too(I usually snag a few more since they’re in a bowl on the counter haha). I can’t rave about this place enough, you have to try it!!!
