Marble Slab Creamery

Marble Slab is like one of the closest places to get ice cream from UW. I mean their ice cream is okay, nothing too exciting but they do send out coupons often which is great. If you keep the receipt you get a dollar off, the next time you come in and they have stamp cards so make sure you ask for one when you get ice cream. I think the take SPC’s too. On a regular day it is pricey, but all the ice cream joints are pricey I mean like $ 5 for a cone vs. a 2L box of ice cream… I dono man. So whenever I go I make sure to get a flavour I can’t buy at the grocery store.

The place is kinda pricy with 5.99 for a regular cone, but the size is rather huge and enough to be a meal for me personally. Some flavours are questionable cuz you can really taste the artificial flavour, but you get to sample whatever you want before you make your pick, so it’s not a huge deal. You get to pick maximum 2 flavours of ice cream for regular cone, but now u get unlimiter mix ins.
I like going there on Tuesday when you get 2 regular cones for $ 10. Sometimes if you go right after a holiday like Halloween you can find ice cream cupcakes for 50% off, so look out for those. Occassionally they send out coupons and the one I have has regular cone for 3.99, pretty good deal!

The place has new chairs inside, and the pictures on Unilocal don’t really show that. Maybe I’ll take a picture for them next time to show how nice they are! The colours really pop out and sort of resemble the Menchies’ colours, oddly enough. Another neat thing is that they’ve added an outdoor seating for people to enjoy their cold ice cream on a hot summer day!
Now for the ice cream reviews: I’ve been to this Marble Slab for the past five years. I used to eat here every day when I lived at the University of Waterloo Place (UWP residence) in first year. I don’t eat ice cream as frequently as I used to, but I can’t think of anywhere else for ice cream. Their ice cream is always delicious, and now they have unlimited mixins!
The only drawback is that I’ve noticed that since they’ve introduced the unlimited mixins thing, they cut back on the amount of ice cream they give you. I’m not really crazy about putting a ton of mixins, because then I’d just go buy a bag of candy instead.
I’m there for the ICE CREAM. Specifically, I love the mango ice cream and it kills me a little bit inside every time they don’t serve it. I’ve actually walked out of the store once when I found that they didn’t have mango. Marble Slab, if you are reading this, please have the mango flavour more often.
