I just returned from staying here. The first room wasn’t good at all. The air conditioner wasn’t working. I complained that I don’t want to spend my first hour dealing with this. A supervisor or manager named Nicolette was so happy to help. She upgraded me to an excellent room, in a very quiet area of the hotel. It was perfect for me and I slept great. She also let me use the spa. That was so nice, they gave you a snack. I also went in the regular pool and down the slide. It was so much fun, even though I’m not a kid :) Justin, at the desk was also eager to help. I would stay here again. It is also very clean. It is right near the Polo Park mall which is a very nice mall and there is a Starbucks right there. The hotel is also near the Assiniboine River and I found great trails to run. It was a fun time.

Close to Polo Park mall and things but it’s like a labyrinth to get in and out of this hotel. To top it all off, the service was below standard and the staff was rude!

Pretty standard for a Clarion. A bit dated though.

It’s actually a pretty terrible hotel. I’ve stayed here 8 times in the last 3 years. Pity me. There’s a bar off the lobby. Nobody’s ever there. There’s a swimming pool with a big slide and water fall. It’s kitschy. The attached restaurant(which also does the room service) is the pancake house. Don’t bother placing an order; the food is frankly terrible. But if you do order, beware — you run a 50 – 50 chance they’ll tell you they’re «no longer serving.» Room sizes are generous, I’ll give them that. There’s an Earl’s restaurant, a Starbucks, and a decent shopping mall directly across the street. That’s the second star. You know… location location location. What really chaps my hide about this hotel is how obvious the veneer of service is. On the surface people are courteous and pleasant, until you actually ask for something, then you’ll just get excuses. Stay elsewhere.

I love this hotel. It’s very clean and the people here are all very friendly and accommodating. The pool is clean and warm. I have nothing but positive things to say about the Clarion!

You know your hotel stay is going to be interesting when the cab driver asks«Why are you staying HERE?» before he drops you off. Now while the cabbie may have heard terrible things about the Clarion… it’s not a terrible hotel. Sure the location isn’t ideal(unless, like me… you work from the mall) and the exterior leaves much to be desired. The rooms are big(perhaps too big?), the in-room lighting is dim, and based on it’s design I can’t help but think that the whole building used to be a government office building. It’s definitely a family oriented hotel(the watersides bring kids in from far and wide) so you might want to avoid it if you’re a business traveller. Room service, the bar and the attached pancake place close up at 9:00pm which is(ironically) before people like me even check in … but still, the Clarion has its redeeming qualities. The staff are GREAT.(I asked the front desk agent to call me a cab to the airport… instead, he offered me a complimentary shuttle service and drove me right there.) FreeWifi is always good, and the complimentary bathroom products are high quality. The waterpark, gym and spa are great amenities to have… though I’ve never mustered up the courage to get a mani pedi. I always enjoy my stays at the Clarion.
