Big burgers, great selection. A little pricey for a fast food place, but definitely worth it

This is the best 5 guys I’ve been in. Better than the ones in America. Ira took our order and nailed it. My condolences to In and Out but this was a substantially better burger. Fries however not as good as innout… My guess is that the Canadian beef is better. I understand it is local beef.

My mouth waters every time I think about this restaurant! Simple and delicious. So many places are going the way of the frozen patty but not Five Guys. I love the completely open floor plan! I get to watch my burger from start to finish. The burgers are fresh, the toppings are fresh, the fries are delicious and the staff is crazy efficient. While waiting for your food there are delicious peanuts for your snacking pleasure. My favourite thing about Five Guys is that the burger tastes like meat. No BBQ sauce masking the taste or messing with the consistency. Just pure beautiful meat.

Second time here. Great burgers and fries. This time had the little bacon and hubbie the little bacon cheese. Sooo good. Will return.

Fresh meat and other ingredients make the food superior quality. They give you a lot of fries and they’re thick cut and fried in peanut oil. Cajun or regular. The burgers are the star here though. Among the best of fastish food burgers I’ve eaten. The only real downside is the price. 2 patty burger, regular fries, and a large fountain drink runs about 18 bucks. The staff are great, the food is fantastic, but if it were a few bucks cheaper, I’d eat there more often.

Visited on a whim with my husband and adult son, we were not impressed. The variety of burger fixings is impressive and the wait staff very friendly, venue clean — but the meal itself was nothing special. I had the small cheese burger with mayo lettuce tomatoe mushrooms and green peppers — the bun would have been better toasted and the meat patty was very beefy tasting. Very disappointed with the fries although plentiful they lacked a crispness and cooled quickly. Now that I have tried Five Guys I would not be back.

I’ve gone twice just to be sure, but no doubt 5 Guys Burgers and Fries have a winning formula. Both times I have devoured my cheese and bacon burger loaded with jalapeños alongside WAY too many fries they give you. Would have given 5 stars, but it is a bit pricey for just a burger and fries. Having said that… It’s all they do and they do it extremely well!

It’s tough to be a burger joint in a city like Winnipeg. We are so lucky to have so many amazing burger places — with many of the famous ones being small family run operations. I had heard so much about this place and maybe the hype led to my disappointment. Going in all, I knew was that this place uses all fresh ground beef, no preservatives or fillers, they use fresh potatoes(and even tell you where the potatoes are from in the store). We went close to closing, which is 10 pm(daily) — the place was winding down so our orders were filled very quickly. They give out free bulk peanuts here and their fries are cooked in peanut oil so a warning to those with peanut allergies. It’s one of those joints where people deshell the peanuts and leave it all over the floor. I get the folksy antics of throwing peanut shells on the ground but it just makes the place look dirty and gross. That being said, the peanuts are AMAZING. LOL. yeah, I have to say that the best part of Five Guys are the free peanuts. Perfectly salted and oh so good. Back to the main purpose of this trip… it’s a simple menu of burgers(regular which is 2 patties or the«little» burger which is a single patty) and fries(salted called«Five Guys» or «Cajun»). There’s even a veggie and grilled cheese sandwich for the vegetarians out there. Opted for the little bacon cheese burger and the little cheese burger and regular fries($ 3.50 and comes in the size of a large plastic drink cup). All that came to $ 17.10 after tax. It’s about $ 5-$ 8 for single or double burger which a lot of people are complaining as pricey. But let’s be real, they’re using real fresh ingredients unlike some major fast food places where you pay $ 2 for a tiny processed burger. Cheeseburgers at VJs is $ 5.10 and $ 5.50 at Mrs. Mikes. So let’s cut these places some slack for using real ingredients. The burgers can be loaded up with a lot of different ingredients and you have the choice of A1 steak sauce, BBQ and hot sauce to add on as well. I chose«all the way» — mayo, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, grilled onions, mushrooms, ketchup and mustard. All those toppings make a really messy burger, kinda like a Fat Boy. The BBQ sauce is good — more smokey than sweet and the bacon was good without being overly salty. The burger meat itself is surprisingly bland so it’s really the toppings that you taste. Now I will say the burger patty tasted really fresh, moist and almost healthy — yeah that sounds weird to say but it did. I like a different type of burger, a more Winnipeg style burger with stronger flavours and that grill top exterior on the patty. So the Five Guys one tasted very mild comparatively. It’s a good burger but I still prefer the local Greek family operated burger places instead. The cajun fries were disappointing — the seasoning was a bit muted, sort of like popcorn seasoning and the fries weren’t very crisp(almost soggy). I’d go for the regular Five Guys version next time. Service was really friendly and prompt. Since opening about a few weeks ago, they say the line has been non-stop at peak hours(~15 min wait). So try going during off peak hours for the next while.
