I went here for 4 nights back in August and it was such a bummer of a trip. The biggest disappointment with the hotel was with the food. I saw mixed reviews on trip advisor and thought maybe some of the people were just expecting too much with the food but it wad horrible. I don’t feel like I’m exaggerating. It was also a major inconvenience because my girlfriend and I would not eat there so we opted to take the bus into the restaurant area for just about every meal. All the time wasted traveling back and forth would’ve been better spent at a resort with food that was edible. I would’ve much rather paid more money for edible food or paid for meals rather than have all you can eat crap. The room we had was decent and I don’t have any complaints there. The staff at the hotel generally nice too. The hard sell on going to a time share presentation was kind of annoying but persistent no’s finally prevailed. One thing that was super cool was on our first day there, we were sitting on these chairs closer to the ocean and far from the pool area of the resort. I’m sitting there for ten minutes and this guy hiked all the way out there to bring us drinks. Maybe that’s normal but my girlfriend and I were the only ones out there which I also thought was odd. Who goes all the way to cancun and hangs out at a pool when there is a beautiful beach? Overall, I’ll probably never return to cancun. Every where we turned, I felt someone was trying to get one over on us. That isn’t a very welcoming feeling. Even when we went into town expecting to find cheap souvenirs, people were selling t shirts for $ 25 that I could get in LA for $ 5. And yeah, you can haggle but it wasn’t worth the energy. I actually scored a deal on a hat and some glasses from a teen at a shop. My girlfriend informed that his mom then berated him in Spanish for selling it so cheap. I kinda felt bad. There is a lot of poverty in the actual city and people almost force you into their stores and almost all of them offered me pot or some other drug. You can save yourself a lot of trouble by staying at a resort that has good food whether inclusive or not. This was my first experience with one and while I thought the price for the room was fair even with the poor food, the inconvenience of traveling off the property every meal ruined the trip. Also, I’m not often unprepared traveling but I kind of sleep walked on this one. Should’ve exchanged tons on American for pesos and had way more change for tipping. Bring both American and pesos with plenty of change. Expect to have everyone you come in contact with looking for a hand out. Don’t buy anything from the guys walking the beach especially the fake Cubans they sell. tl;dr The hotel itself is decent with nice enough staff. The food is borderline inedible on the constant harassment of vendors in the beach ruins the experience. Parasailing located in front of the property next door is worth the price even for the short ride.

I see that my hotel review has not been posted by Travelocity/Expedia.com, but I can at least give would be travelers a heads up here. Now for the absurd: $ 16 A DAYFORWIFI… what GREEDBAG came up with that rate? TIMESHAREPRESENTATIONWASNOT1 ½ HOURS… my spouse had to tell the salesperson to please let us go after 3 ½ hours — ITWAS A COMPLETEWASTEOFTIME, ANDCONCIERGEREPLIEDABOUTFUTUREUSECERTIFICATEDISCOUNTTHAT«DIDNOTHAVEANEXPIRATIONDATE»(it was good from Nov 18th to Dec 22nd, 2015)… how stupid is that… like I’m really going to come back in a month? Our room also reeked of fresh caulking sealant from a very sloppy repair job in the bathroom for at least the first 3 days we were there. And, it also seems that hotel management is apparently ok with a maintenance crew banging on AC duct vents for half an hour right next to guest rooms at 8AM… someone with a sliver of a brain could have told these guys to take that crap into the maintenance room that was right next to them, but no one ever did. 8AM folks… REALLY. I came very far, and only got a so so experience… the only people that were helpful were the service staff(Kids Club, restaurant, front desk, house cleaning, etc.) — I’ll give them at least that — but we are not coming back.
