Great place for tacos, chips and fresh guacamole. Good value. Servers are nice and want to make things right. Margaritas need a little help though.

Quick recap: delicious tacos al pastor, queso con chorizo and excellent service. Cheap prices but without the touristy feel. If I had a complaint, it was the lack of «fresh» chips and they ran out of Indio beer while I was there :/ After getting to my hotel late, walked to the place next to it(also a taco joint) and they had no cheese. So I paid for a beer and went to the place next to it, taco’n madre. Best decision of the trip. This is not a tourist hot spot. This is a legit Mexican place with locals eating there. They speak rough English but enough to take your order and assist you. Overall, if you want legit Mexican food at a low cost, eat here. It’s delicious. If you want a touristy place with 20 tv’s and American music and high prices, look elsewhere.

I really enjoyed this local taco spot!!! We found this place after venturing into downtown Cancun on the bus and wanting to get a taste of the local food. This shop is right beside three other fast food shops, so be careful or you will step into the wrong place. After reviewing the menus of the places beside Madre we decided to go with this one because the tasty pictures beside every menu item(that was written in Spanish). We were immediately seated. This isn’t fancy dining but that’s exactly what I wanted – a local meal! Our server couldn’t speak any English and couldn’t understand the words we were saying so lucky for us an older server was working and able to translate for us. The white cheese queso with meat on top is delicious and a must try! They gave us three different salsas and I wasn’t really a fan of them but the chips were delicious. The hubby ordered a steak burrito and I ordered a shrimp burrito. These burritos where stuff with fresh ingredients and tasted amazing! This was the best meal we had the whole time we were in Cancun. They also offer beer for really cheap – but the prices here are just cheap in general! The service here was really good and they continued to check on us the whole time we were there. They also take credit cards. I didn’t get to take pictures of my meal because it was so good we dug in – sorry guys! My only other regret besides the pictures – is not going back one last time before we left Cancun.

Dined on 3÷16÷5015 After an evening of gambling at Palace Casino we decided to stop for a bite to eat almost right next door. After talking with a couple of locals who spoke English, we decided on the Pastor and Bistec tacos platters of five each. The cost 50 peso for the Pastor and 75 peso for the Bistec, also 2 bottles of Coke and we spent less than 140 peso($ 10US), for more food than the two of us could eat. Both types of tacos were loaded with mean and fixens(see photos of menu and food). A real bargain when you think two people could not get 10 real tacos and 2 sodas, chips and salsa in the US for $ 10 or less. We really enjoyed the food and atmosphere /ambience of eating in an open court restaurant. When we come back to Cancun, we plan on stopping her again.

Since the first day of landing in Cancun i saw this place outside our room from our hotel. We had to try this place out since I saw it on Unilocal and wanted to test it out myself. The service was slow but the food was mediocre. We order pastor fries and i ordered one shrimp taco and one fish taco. The fish taco was good but the shrimp wasnt. The shrimp taco had a bad smell to it and i couldnt even finish or eat it. Prices are steep but I would skip this place and get tacos else where thats more local and cheap. We were on a time frame and running late so I didnt have time to send the order back. The pastor loaded fries were ok meat was tender, juicy, and flavorful. However it had too much cheese sauce which shredded cheese would be better. The workers here are super nice and speaks english too.
