Lovely breakfast and atmosphere. Authentic French food. I’d love to eat here again. Don’t miss the pain de chocolat

Le Jardin is severely understaffed and thus service is haphazard and slow, but the lovely atmosphere and mostly good food do make up for this. They have pastries, quiche, egg dishes, coffees, teas, and juices. French owned, and a nice choice for breakfast in Holbox.

I found Le Jardin to be vastly overrated. The chocolatins were very good, but the paninis that I tried were pretty unimpressive. They also got my order wrong the first time and were about to do it again a second time, until I caught them. More importantly, this place is surprisingly popular. The restaurant opens at 8:30am and there are already a number of people waiting to come in. If you’re not there at that time, you won’t be sitting down at a table. I know that there aren’t too many alterenative options on a small island like Holbox, but having been twice now, I still can’t figure out what the hubub is all about. The family that owns and runs the place is French, and they seem to have things all set the way they want. Still, their space could definitely seat more people, and in the meantime there are a lot of people waiting patiently. Also, though their menu states that they have caffe lattes, they don’t. The guy taking the orders told me I could order a cappucino or just get the brewed coffee from the counter. The weird thing is that I read someone else complain about this on TripAdvisor… and the owners responded saying that there must be a mistake because they«do serve caffe lattes.» Unfortunately, that wasn’t my experience either.

I love this place! My husband doesn’t quite see the appeal, but I think it’s a gem. If it was in San Francisco or New York, it likely wouldn’t be noteworthy. But it isn’t in a big city, it is on a little island. I think that is what makes it special — the quality exceeds my relative expectations. Chocolotins, paninis and quiche were all very good. They serve cappuccinos but I stuck with black coffee(with a free refill) and it was nice and strong. Be ready to wait in line, but once you order service is speedy.

Awesome breakfast spot. Great coffee, delicious pastries and omelets. Good service. Does get busy but it’s worth the wait in line.

Perfect breakfast spot! Many juices, coffees, pastries, muffins, quiches, yogurt, and omelets. The fruit platter was perfect for a light breakfast then to hit the beach! Juices freshly juiced in house. They do not have change for USD bills $ 20 so break large bills before you get here. The café is breezy with fans and has an toy area for kids to play. They serve lunch with sandwiches and paninis with fresh bread made in house. They are closed Monday and Tuesday but open the rest of the week 8:00 to 12:30. Must try while in Holbox!
