If it weren’t for Betsia I can’t imagine what we’d do at midnight on any given day when we’ve had drinks. Big fan of the spicy chicken kebab and the staff are super friendly.

I’m a regular there & absolutely love the food at Betsia, great tasting kebabs, delicious sovlaki too! Friendly staff who always give a cheerful wave & smile even if just walking by. Can’t recommend them highly enough. Hoping to try their new pizza range soon too.

Hands-down the best kebabs we’ve had in NZ and among the better ones we’ve had in the world – and that’s based on a sample size of probably 20 highly-rated kebab shops around the country and hundreds of various kebabs(and related foodstuffs) around the planet, including in Turkey, Israel, Jordan, the Gulf states, Greece, and elsewhere where meat-in-pita is a native snack(plus Germany, where the Döner has become the very definition of fast food). Coming back to local comparisons, to my taste, this beats Shefco, no question. Nice, clean shop and excellent, friendly service tops it off. We fly out in two days, and I don’t doubt I’ll be back here at least once if not two more times before we leave. Amazing.

Having never been to Turkey, I really have no idea what proper, real kebabs are supposed to be like. All I have to go by are Auckland kebabs and Christchurch kebabs(like Auckland kebabs, only yuck). But as far as Auckland kebabs go, Betsia’s pretty good. They’re generous with their portions and the meat is rich and tasty. They get a bit busy around lunchtime but that’s only to be expected, and off-peak the service is pretty quick. They also do burgers which are pretty good, although I’ve yet to find a kebab shop anywhere whose burgers stand up to the kebabs themselves. But I suppose kebabs are their focus, so that’s no real surprise.
