This is probably my favorite Indian takeaway place so far. Only downside is no eggplant entrees — some baingan bharta would really take it over the top. That’s why I leave it at 4 instead of 5 tbh. The samosas are legit — big, fat, not oily and chock full of potatoes, peas, and spices. It comes with imli chutney(tamarind) but if you ask nicely they’ll throw in some mint chutney as well. Our usual order is dhal makhani and palak paneer — both are super yummy and come with nice threads of fresh ginger on top — amaaaazing. Note: they do mild, medium, hot, and Indian hot. I can usually take pretty hot and medium is plenty here — it’s no joke. The best thing here is easily the naan bread. They’ve got a tandoor and their naan is delicious for a little takeaway shop. Not greasy, you can order online, it’s a short walk from the Glen Inness train station, and they’re super friendly. Oh and if you live nearby, they deliver! Easy to see how they’ve made metro cheap eats a few years running. Check it out, be happy!

Pretty much agree with the other two reviewers eating a Indian chicken tikka Kabab and it’s bomdiggity lol on my way home from work and dropped by to see what good places other than Carl jrs. The guy recommended the Kabab said it was one if the popular ones. Go check it out for yourself.

Bombay Blues is rather close to where I live and from all the times I had it, they have been rather solid. I usually like to do a bit of digging and research the establishments I eat at but this one was special because I has no idea how they got there in the first place. Due to the the development of all around the Merton Road/Felton Matthew Roundabout, the craze started with the famed Carls Junior building their 2nd shop right in St Johns. Everything else sort of snowballed there. There’s also been a steady line of shops along that stretch owned by Indians and I can honestly say this is the only one worth going in. One the of the better takeaway/dine in curry places I have eaten at, priced just right and I usually order the Chicken Tikka Masala in HOT. The curry gravy is thick, tasty, pungent, semi-creamy, laced with sautéed capsicums and the onions cut in just right(I’ve eaten at places where they are like giant hunks of onion rings and it was disturbing). Chicken wise, it’s the tandoori grilled variety. Décor and ambience wise — simple and don’t expect to take your date there. Just go for the food… Vegetarian variety looks super like the Paneer(Indian cottage Cheese) is a must for those less inclined to chewing meat. :)

With this place situated just around the corner from my flat, it’s oh so hard not to pop in for a curry a few times a week. Not to mention the lunchtime special is only $ 10 for a curry of your choice + rice + naan bread. They serve large portions too, which often makes it a struggle to fit it all in. But you know that feeling when you know you should stop eating, but the food is just so good? That’s the feeling these curries deliver. The staff are friendly; the girl who usually takes the orders is always smiling. Not the fanciest restaurant as a dine-in option, so probably not the ideal place if you’re looking to impress a first date, however the food fully makes up for it.
