Such an awesome place to go for brunch. You definitely get your money’s worth here(well I definitely did) Staff were very friendly and helpful, giving us indecisive bunch enough time to read through the many choices on the menu. The cabinet food looked really good too, however I didn’t purchase any as I was too full from finishing off my delicious corn frittas. The food was amazing, all in all I left feeling very satisfied with my meal.

If you’re in the Ellerslie area the Melba is a good place to go if you want a standard brunch menu with good coffee and sometimes good service. The breakfast and lunch food is standard to a tee — big breakfast, eggs benedict, open steak sandwiches, salads etc. The food is OK. Nothing to write home about but I’ve never had anything to complain about. The coffee is OK as well, as is the service. You get my drift — it’s a good place to go in Ellerslie but there are places around that do better food, coffee and service in the local area

Café Melba is a favourite ‘go to’ for brunch if you are in the Ellerslie area. The menu gives you lots to choose from. I would rate both the eggs bennie and the big breakfast. Coffee is great plus this café is licensed. The staff are really friendly and happy to accommodate changes to what is listed on the menu(eg, omitting or adding ingredients). I love coming here on a sunny day and nabbing one of the tables outside or inside at the window.

Nice and cozy for a friendly lunch. Had S.E.B however the bagel is not quite fresh to taste. Enjoy the café and mushroom FILO. Sometimes you have to raise your voice to be heard:)

When I first moved to ellerslie I was excited about this café but after going numerous times, it’s just average. Sometimes the coffee is good and other times it’s not. The food is average and is expensive for what you get.

Wow this place only has a three-star so far? I’ m a big fan of this place. Haven’t been here in a while; it used to be a favourite place for brunch. I love the interior here, I could sit here forever. They place a good choice of music and the service staff are great. Coffee isn’t disappointing.

Went here on a wet and cold Sunday. The pace was crowded — always a good sign. We wanted a table for 5, almost an impossibility. But as we were early we sat at the window bar and had coffee. Several staff knew we were waiting on a table for 5 and we were pleasantly surprised our request was not forgotten. Easy to do when busy. Seated in about 15 minutes. Great service, good choice on menu and nothing seemed to be a trouble for staff. Food was fine and arrived promptly. Staff friendly and did not give the impression of being busy and hurried. Would go here again. No wonder it was so busy and other cafes in the as were next to empty.

This café is a great café and just does what a café should. It’s been around for years and that’s testament to it being a good café, even with a Columbus moving in right next door. The locals love it and the café loves the locals too. I personally am a bit of a coffee snob but I really, really love Melba coffee beans. There’s something really rich and mellow about it all at the same time. You do need to watch out though because they have a tendency to serve you massive coffees that have a bit too much milk for my liking. This is easily fixed an I just ask for a small cup, or a macchiato. It’s great to have a good café like this in Ellerslie as all really nice areas deserve a nice café.

The menu is big! For those poor decision makers among us, it does take some time to get through. I don’t even bother looking in the cabinet as «we don’t have all day!». I’ve been to Café Melba several times and it’s always been busy. It’s a nice indoor café, and if you’re lucky you can find a window seat or one of the little tables outside. I’ve always been pretty impressed with the food; it doesn’t take long to come out(good for the lunch hour) and the quality is decent. The salads are packed with ingredients and large enough to fill you up. I always seem to get pulled in by the cakes on the counter when paying(the trade off for having salad) the carrot cake is scrummy.

Another café I’ve only gone to because it’s close to where I work. It’s not exactly bad but you’d never say, ooh, let us go to Melba. They have a big menu and all the staple café options; eggs bene, big breakfasts, coffee, a range of juices. But I think the reason I don’t rate it too highly is because it’s nothing out of the ordinary, it is just a normal, run of the mill café in Ellerslie Village. It gets quite busy and because of the main road you can feel like you are being rushed and you don’t feel relaxed, at all.

I went to Café Melba because it has a voucher in the Entertainment book, so I thought I would give it a go, try a new café and get a wee discount while I was at it. MY friend and I both ordered coffees and eggs Benedict with salmon. Now I am a huge eggs bene fan, and I do not like it when cafes and eateries skimp on the ingredients. This was not the best I have eaten, as yes they skimped on the spinach and there was only enough ingredients to cover one of the two buns, and partially cover the second. However this is common in cafes, the food was still tasty, the coffee was good and the service was nice. So I will be giving this one a second chance.

I’ve been to Café Melba in Ellerslie a few times now and I’m still only satisfied by it. I personally don’t feel it is any better than other cafés, but it’s quite close to me and I feel it’s one of the better cafes in the Ellerslie village. There is a large menu to choose from and they also supply wine and alcohol, perfect if you’re after a drink with lunch. They’re always busy however it is right on the road so it can get quite loud. I was happy to see that this is a café that caters to people in wheelchairs as it can be quite hard to find places around town that do.
