This is one of the better dim sum restaurants in Auckland in my view. While not inexpensive, if you are looking for a nice place to have a meal on a Saturday you can’t do much better than China Yum Char. We ordered a few dishes from the cart, Cha Xiao Pork and Guo Tie dumplings. Than we ordered stir fried garlic kale and Ma Po Doufu. They were accommodating and made the doufu dish without pork. The portions are family size so difficult for two to finish. Keep this in mind when ordering from the menu. The atmosphere is nice and the staff seem relaxed and nice. Pleasant place and not too loud.

China Yum Char is a classic, close to work and can easily accomidate a large lunch group at no notice. I would be happy if there was more lunch time options, but what is offered is really good, you have to try the duck.

My friends asked me where could we have some chinese food, so I took them to here, actually I ve never been to this restaurant before. Service is okay, food is okay, but I think there are many better Chinese restaurants than this one.

The food served here is decent quality, tastes good and the décor is very well thought out, but they could work on friendlier services. There were one or two very rude employees that make me not want to go back.

If I could give them less I would. Ordered yum cha takeaway and all of it was waterlogged and tasteless. As in they should have checked it and started new batches after a few hours. Apparently they think we should pay for their food stock management mistakes by serving it to us as paying customers to take it away so we don’t find out until we’re already home. It literally tasted like they washed it in water. The sui mai was siting in in a pool of water in the takeaway container. It’s the equivalent of serving burnt food to paying customers. This is an update to today 15÷05÷15

Came here to try a new experience — dinner time yum cha/dim sum. Was fortuitous that they had a one-day deal voucher so it wasn’t as pricey-of a meal! Just a friend and I, who ordered two or three two many dishes than we should have– walked out very full. Unfortunately since it was dinner time, they didn’t have a few things we wanted to order– which I may have to come back for but there were still a few decent ones I enjoyed. Big fan of the Steam BBQ Pork Bun(though I have had better) and next, did like the Pineapple bun and Prawn Dumpling. Congee was alright and the Black Bean Pork was also average. The Glutinous Wrapped Ice Cream was decent. Might need to come back again for lunch as I wasn’t too impressed, sadly.

China as the name suggests is a restaurant with a large menu of mostly traditional Chinese dishes with some extras from south east Asia like Laksa– giving the hungry diner many options for sharing. We always enjoy one or two course duck, and a number of other dishes with beef, chicken, seafood, and tofu.

Proper dumplings for reasonable price. Being Chinese-originated, I would know. Nice service by the people and the big painting of Milford sound in the dining hall is quite amazing. Thumbs up.

China Yum Cha was my first ever yum cha experience and I was like a kid in a candy store. This place(like all yum cha restaurants) played on my eyes-bigger-than-stomach complex by bringing dish after delicious dish of food to the table and asking us if we wanted to try it. Of course I did! I wanted to try all of them! Bank balance be damned! Here are some of my favourite items from the menu: deep fried squid, prawn spring rolls, prawn dumplings, spinach dumplings… prawns prawns dumplings dumplings, repeat. I lost count of how many tiny morsels I stuffed into my gob, but they were all amazing. At the end of the meal we were offered«deep fried milk», which we were to discover was deep fried sweetened condensed milk. Eating one of these little packages was an absolute finishing move for me and I had to go home for a lie down… and a long hard think about my dining habits!

We went there because it’s near the CBD and not as busy as the other yum cha places around central Auckland. Because it is less busy, it meant we got the selections we wanted in quicker time, with friendly enough service. It had the typical yum cha choices that came out quickly and were high quality. No complaints at all really — as far as yum cha goes this is totally fine. Dumplings!

I came here with some of my family on the day of the Rugby World Cup opening. As you can imagine the whole CBD was packed beyond belief, and to be honest we came here because the place we wanted to go to was fully booked for like the next seven years. I’m pretty glad we made that call though. I had only been to a Yum Cha once before and my experience was average. This time I loved it. We sat outside in the sun(most of these sorts of restaurants don’t have outdoor seating). Vibes were good and the place was humming. The service was super efficient and helpful in suggesting things we might like to try. Waiters come past with trolleys and trolleys of different small plates. Dumplings, Bok Choy, pork, seafood, chickens feet(yep), and heaaaapppsss more, and you just pick stuff off the trolleys as you go. Before long we had a table filled with delicious and fresh morsels of Chinese food. Drinking, eating good food, lapping up the sun and having good conversation — what more could you want?

China — Chinese Restaurant. This place was filled to the brim. I went for a birthday party of about 8 people. You sit at circular tables which is really nice as you can chat with everybody. We all ordered a couple of dishes each so you can try a bit of everything. The food was reasonably priced but we used vouchers from Treat me which made is ridiculously cheap! You can watch your dinner swimming with lobsters and fish in tanks but this wasn’t as appealing as I thought it would be. They operate a Yum Char service which means they come round with trolleys and you can pick what you like off of it. This restaurant is perfect for meeting with a group of friends as it is quite a busy and noisy atmosphere but is very reasonably priced.

We came to China Yum Cha because the wait for Mexico was too long and we were super hungry. It was definitely a work of the universe because we had a ball. Dumplings, crispy pork, and pork buns are so up my alley. These were fresh, well made and not very greasy at all. We even requested more prawn dumplings and they made them for us especially. The best thing about it was that the restaurant was rather quiet, a good change from the craziness of other Yum Chas. And even better than that, when we got our bill it was so cheap.
