More like a hawker market than a food hall. We had Cajun which was fantastic. Would definitely come back with with options that include fence crepes, tapas and Indian. Well worth a visit.

This is a great place to eat, for lunch or dinner. It is not a single eatery, it’s a cluster of(mostly) European kitchens, wrapping around the tables throughout the centre. I is, as the name implies in some renovated stables. the décor is great throughout.

I was beyond stoked to find this place by chance. It is a fancy version of a food court, with food and drink options that will please everyone. I also like the atmosphere which is cozy and great for people watching. I was there for dinner, so it was quite busy. Both of us settled for some cajun from Bonz. We shared the rack of ribs and the chicken sliders. We ordered jugs of beer for Torchon(French restaurant). The ribs were OK, nothing to write home about. But the fried chicken sliders were delicious, crispy yet juicy and tender. They went really well with chips and beer. I’m looking forward to going back and try the other restaurants.

An Auckland classic for meeting up in groups before or after the movies or doing anything downtown. The key is the variety of food(Spanish, Italian, Japanese, and more) so that everyone can find something they are looking for. The ambiance and feel is great since they are old horse stables.

Some options can be a bit pricey(add drinks and the tab can get into the $$$ range) but the variety of selection makes this a great place to go with a group. I can recommend the Poitrine du Porc, an excellent pork belly dish from the French place, Torchon. I have also had the lamb cutlets from Big Little Grill but it was overdone and dry. Free wifi is a plus and the service is generally always fast.

This is the ultimate place for a dinner with friends. The dynamic is great — to put it basically, it’s an upmarket foodcourt. There are so many great restaurants/cafes to choose from, everyone has plenty of options — there’s even a dessert café if you are so inclined. The seating can sometimes be a bit hairy, especially after work, but most of the time you can get a table. My picks are the mexican(don’t miss the ceviche if its fresh), the southern american restaurant(sliders, curly fries and that crispy chicken) and the french restaurant(cheap and great cocktails).

Every-time I step into Elliot Stables, I have somewhat of a C. S Lewis-like, Narnia moment! Walk down this little secret cobblestone alleyway in down-town Auckland and you magically end up outside another world, complete with tiny European street-side restaurants! All my visits to the Stables begin with a ritualistic visit to De Niro. I have no idea what their food tastes like, though! I don’t go for the food. I go to check-out the… NO, not some hot Italian behind the counter but the mural on the wall! I can however recommend the little terraza and French Creperie that flank De Niro! El Faro is a beautiful little terraza. The décor is enchanting and the Sangria a refreshing, ruby-red concoction that teams up beautifully with their tapas. The stuffed calamari, fried chicken ajillo and sherry mushrooms are fab! As for the Torchon French Creperie, they serve a top-notch crêpe Suzette! Frankies by the main entrance to the Stables, offers the best value for money. Only place, I have ever stooped to ordering bangers and mash! The spicy Spanish chorizo is divine. Oh, and Besos Latinos does a great pan fried tiger prawns with habanero chilli and garlic salsa that’s also worth sampling! So, go get lost on an epicurean adventure!

If you’re not a big fan of food court, but dont have the money to go to a restaurant for lunch. Elliot Stables might be the place for you. It is very clean, the décor is definitely well made, and the foods possibility are huge. From India to Japon to Venezuela, all food choices are there. Up to you to choose the one that will brighten the day. Personally the Japanese and the Indian are my favorite. Try them !

This place was nice and we were so excited to eat here… It’s basically a super high end food court. Our problem was that we couldn’t find a single thing we wanted. Nothing against the selection here, there was plenty to chose from, we just weren’t feeling any of the options. We must have looked at seven different menus. It was pretty loud and crowded anyway but most people seemed to be having a good time. This would be great for groups of friends who don’t have exactly the same taste in food. I would definitely try again.

My favorite place at Elliot stables is the Bonz. Their take for southern food is delicious… Definitely recommend the corn bread and the jambalaya. This time I tried the southern fried chicken with salad — the salad was like a coleslaw with crispy corn chip bits :) super yum!

Went to Deniro for lunch at Elliott stables. The staff there are really friendly and the owner Aleksandr is awesome guy. The pizza we had was one of the best I’ve had in a while. The base was the best part. Can’t wait to go back

I’ve had many wonderful experiences at Elliott Stables, with groups of all shapes and sizes. I find it’s perfect when you can’t all agree on what you want to eat, because there’s very few things they don’t have. It’s got a beautiful outdoor, airy feeling — despite being a covered indoor space — due to the gorgeous décor and stylings. There’s cobbled floors and old varnished wood to make it look like a quaint side street rather than the upmarket food court it really is. Many nights are made even more enjoyable by the live jazz band playing, which might seem pretentious anywhere else. The dimmed lighting also creates a more laid back atmosphere, which ensures I always feel comfortable. While the food can be a tad overpriced and isnt always consistent, this is still a fantastic eatery.

It’s a cut above a normal food court. Great atmosphere. Multiple different restaurants available to appease every food desire even for the pickiest(which I have). Unfortunately some of the restaurants were closed. Half of us went to The Big Little Grill and had some great steak and the rest went for sushi which looked amazing and well presented and tasted great. Restaurants served alcohol. You went to each place and ordered and gave your table number then the food was delivered in a timely manner. They had people bussing the tables to keep things clean and ready for the next patron.

Yummy. Interesting place. Its like a fancy food court which means you can have foods from all different places but still enjoy a nice atmosphere. It is not as loud or crazy as a normal food court. Its definitely a good place to find a solid meal.

I like Elliot Stables — it’s not perfect, but it’s nice. There’s all sorts of food, from bruschettas, latin food, pizzas, indian cuisine, japanese cuisine, bratwursts, a creperie, a juice bar, steaks(might i mention they’re mighty fine), and desserts. Exactly like what Alex said here — «Perfect if you’re dining with fussy eaters!» The place is spacious enough that you can walk easily between the always well cleaned tables(some food court-esque places fail to do this) and there are fresh flowers and candles on the table, so bonus points for that! Me and my friends tried quesadillas and tacos from the latin food restaurant(besos latinos, if I’m not mistaken), a scotch steak from big little grill, and a margherita pizza from the pizzeria(d something, i forgot sorry!) and overall the food was pretty darn good — the presentation was very nice, but i must say eating here is not dirt cheap — i’d say it ranges from $ 25 – 40, depending on what food + beverage(both one each) you buy. The staff are all okay, i saw that some are very friendly with regulars and know them well, which was great to see, while others provided«lukewarm» service. There’s free wifi here, but it’s no BYO. oh well, we can’t have everything, can we? Overall I would definitely come back here, especially to try the other restaurants one by one, even if it may take a tad bit of saving for students.

This place is like an elaborate food court with music playing on certain nights of the week. Great atmosphere for dates. Good food choices amongst the restaurants there. I ordered from the Big Little Grill and the lamb cutlet was awesome. You seat yourself and remember the number on your table. Then you order and tell they your table number and restaurants will bring you your meal.

I have some mixed feelings about Elliot Stables. I love the concept of taking an old building and turning it into something trendy, I love the fact that it is a mix between a food court and a restaurants cluster, i love the food options there, from French to Cajun, with a dessert restaurant, German, Japanese… There is something for everyone! The cobbles are a nice touch but for ladies in heels, what a pain to walk on! Aren’t those supposed to be outdoor? And I always find this place a bit too dark for my liking. I like to see the food I eat. Once my eyes adapted to the(lack of) light, it was alright. As for the food, as I said, I love the choice, but no place has really won my heart yet. The crepes from Le torchon are good but nothing to make me jump off the roof, the cajun food was okay, and the dessert places made me feel like I wasted my time and money… I still have many places to try in there though so maybe the other places will get my rating up a notch, let’s see!

Setting– This place is a nice conglomeration of restaurants. There is shared seating area in the center court surrounded by food from all different regions. It’s not quiet but good level if notice and you can still have a decent conversation Food– The food quality depends on which restaurant you go to. I recommend the Italian place that serves tapa style food. Music– We went on a Sunday night. There was good live jazz music. Drinks– limited bottled selection. Service– mostly help yourself Technology– wifi and free phone charging station

Stables is an interesting conundrum, a location that is the culmination of a dozen or so little eateries. Some I would rate 5 star, some 3 star. Frankies easily makes the best hot chips in central Auckland(in my opinion) and the Little Grill bacon wrapped chicken tenderloins are heavenly. The pizza is pretty good(I am told) and the Cajun fried chicken is delicious also, slightly marred only by oily curly fries. Great for a central Auckland work lunch or just a weekend lunch … Love this place.

The building was initially designed and built in 1910 and used as a warehouse and manufacturing space, however after some serious remodelling and restoration, has been turned in to one of the most happening wee villages in central Auckland. The Stables house a variety of eateries, and anything from specialty sausages and French cuisine to delicious New Zealand Kapiti ice-cream can be found there. It is the perfect place to rendezvous with friends, or even set up and study with a coffee, as I have done on numerous occasions. The décor reflects the era in which the Stables were built and resembles a cosy European-style village, complete with a cobbled pathway leading to each store and a traditional bicycle mounted in the centre of the village where people can enjoy their specialty foods and beverages from breakfast time til well into the night. The Stables are a must see for both those local to Auckland and also those visiting — there isn’t anything else like it.
