I was ready to give them a 4 until I sat for over 10 minutes with an empty plate while my waitress completely ignored me. I even made direct eye contact with her twice, which she acknowledged and still didn’t come to my table. I was actually going to order more but was completely over it before that could happen. When you are gf it’s amazing to find delicacies like crepes that are gf by default so I probably would have retuned several times on my trip because the food was fine but the service is astonishingly poor.

A favourite of ours for gallettes for lunch. Been several times before and even though the space is small service is friendly and prompt.

Awesome crepes! I loved that our waitress was from France. It made the experience so much more authentic. The crepes were cooked perfectly and not rubbery like the ones back in the states. Can’t wait to come back!

Visit the Torchon French Creperie, for one of the best Crêpe Suzette experiences you can have in Auckland. I order them with a scoop of ice cream because I love the contrast of hot and cold and find that it balances the boozy beurre Suzette(orange sauce). Your senses are bound to be satisfied the moment the crepes arrive at your table and the waiter/waitress pours the flamed Grand Marnier over it!

Strolling around Auckland central, this little gem«smidged» at Elliott St is easy to miss unless you enter Elliott Stables — the street facing entry door is very small and doesn’t show much of the interior of this creperie. My friend and I ordered a ratatouille for an appetiser and two crepes(they even have gluten free crepes!) — one was lemon and sugar, and the other was nutella and almonds. The portions were quite small, and the flavours were fine, the ratatouille consisted mainly of onions(contrary to the image I had in my mind from the 2007 Disney-Pixar film Ratatouille) but not mind blowing(perhaps I bought the wrong flavours of crepes) and were moderately priced($ 6.50 for the ratatouille and $ 5.50 to $ 12.50 for the crepes) I was slightly disappointed they did not sell other famous French desserts such as crème brûlée and/or macarons, but then again this is a creperie, not a french café. The interior of this creperie is very vintage and French, decorated with dated French posters and clippings of French newspaper articles, and reminds me strongly of the 2001 French film Amélie. It would be even better if they added French music to the background of the creperie. The waiters had a very distinct French accent(very cool! it seemed very authentic) and although I did not see their food grade, the floors of the creperie were quite dirty.

Strolling through the Elliott Stables is truly an epicurean’s wonderland: take your pick from the cuisines of South America(Bonz Cajun Kitchen), Italy(Bruschetteria), Spain(El Faro) or Japan(Samurai Sushi), to name a few. Nestled amongst these is Torchon French Crêperie, a quaint little joint serving an assortment of traditional crêpes and galettes. The six of us stopped here on a Tuesday afternoon at around 2pm thinking we could avoid the lunch hour craze, but the whole place was packed! Lesson learned: it’s always peak lunch hours at the Elliott Stables compound! Seating in the Torchon part of the complex is limited and arranged mostly in tables for two, so the waiter took us to a table in the middle communal dining area. Despite being seated away from the Torchon section, service was still very attentive The waiter soon came back and, with his ever-so-dreamy French accent, talked us through the menu. While the savoury galettes and dessert crêpes are the main attractions here, Torchon also offers other French classics, including Croque Monsieur and Boeuf Bourguignon. We all ordered the dessert crêpes, and I chose the classic combination of Lemon and Sugar($ 5.50). The crêpe was thin and lemony, but not too tart or sweet — my kind of crêpe! The general consensus among us was«oh my god, that was freaking yum» so needless to say, we left with our sweet cravings satisfied. My friend had the Nutella crêpe which, I must admit, I was slightly jealous of, so I will totally be back to try that, as well as their savoury concoctions. All in all, we had a fantastic experience at Torchon. Complete with rustic décor, delicious crêpe and some very charming Frenchmen, Torchon offers a little bit of France right here in Auckland — très bien!

You *know* how I feel about Frenchmen, exotic French accents and vaguely European food? This place brings it all together. We stumbled in for breakfast early on Saturday morning before heading to Auckland airport. I got a breakfast crêpe with poached eggs, avocado, spinach and tomato which was delicious and hit the spot. I was concerned my order of a soy latte would be judged, but it was also deliciously creamy and gave the right jolt. However, the best thing about this place are the French-accented waiters. Tres dreamy, indeed.

Solid crepes and friendly service with a cute frenchman as our waiter. The galettes(buckwheat savory crepes) were solid, yummy, and filling, but nothing overly exciting. They seemed to lack a certain flavor — a bit buckwheaty and fermented tasting perhaps — that I look for in a truly authentic crêpe. It’s a good place, but I’ll continue my quest for the perfect NZ crêpe!

A little taste of France in Elliot Stables, Torchon French Creperie is exactly how I imagine France to be. When one enters the stables from the second entrance they are greeted with wooden tables and chairs. The tables are decked with checked white and red table cloths and cute little centre pieces. The staff are French which was an opportunity for me and my shallow french to attempt a basic conversation. The staff were kind and gave me a few pointers. As I am rather a fan of french culture I sampled the crepes and my goodness they are the best crepes I have had in Auckland. Topped off with ice cream and sauce, what more could a girl ask for?

I go to Torchon when I’m dreaming of being back in France. It’s almost like the real thing. The staff are French, the food is French, and so is the décor. I also love it because they make ‘galettes’ which are crepes made from buckwheat flour and are therefore gluten free. They do savoury and sweet options which are from as cheap as $ 5.50! So good if payday is looking really far off and you’re in need of a treat. My favourite item on the menu is the Normande which is apple, cinnamon and bacon. It’s the kind of thing Homer Simpson dreams about. And if I’m in the mood for a savoury meal, I get the Ratatouille crêpe with chicken.

It had been«one of those days» at the office when we all decided to pack up, shut computers down and head out for a beautiful French lunch at Elliott Stables. It might have had something to do with all the French content we had been working on, but all of us were in the mood for a lovely wee crêpe. The first thing we ordered on this splendid Tuesday was a bottle of French red, which went down a treat as we waited for our meals. We ordered French onion soup to start, and then each tucked into some savoury galettes, made from buckwheat. Our choices were the Popeye(spinach, bacon, cream, onions and mushrooms) and Chevre(goat’s cheese, sundried tomatoes, mesclun salad and walnuts); both were $ 17.50. Sitting amongst Elliott Stables’ perfectly crafted interior, it was hard to believe we were sitting in Auckland and not Paris!
