Okay so this place is amazing, I love their pizza and the people are amaizng!!! This is my go to every time I’m at Sylvia park. Their pizzas run at around $ 20-$ 30 depending on size. This place gets super busy, super fast so get in quickly.

This is a regular spot for work lunches and functions for my company so I’ve been a few times, usually during the lunch hour. There’s a varied menu of tasty pizzas and burgers and the salads are great too. On this occasion most of our table went with burgers and loved every bite, especially the curly fries, while I tried to be healthy and order a salad and then just gusted all the arancini chips that were just crispy on the outside and warm and creamy centred. There’s a function room upstairs and I believe you can rent it free of charge as long as you arrange a bar tab which is perfect for small group workshops. There’s heaps of parking, usually sport on the TVs and it’s close to the mall and public transport so it’s pretty handy for anyone in the south-eastern part of the city. A good reliable spot for a bite or drinks with the work crowd.

Garrisons is a great gastro pub in Sylvia Park. Open late nights and easily accessible. Don’t let the fact that it’s in a mall turn you off! The food menu is extensive and has standard pub food(burgers, sandwiches, roast meals) as well as a wide range of salads, quesadillas, pizzas and some Asian fusion items. All the food I’ve had is great — I highly recommend the pizzas as they are quite large for the price. A wide selection of beers, huge indoor and outdoor spaces and good competent staff make Garrisons a good choice for a nice easy meal or drink if you’re in the Mt Wellington area.

A very upper-class and also noteworthy mention of large-sized(it’s huge!) pub– with it’s funky wallpaper prints of various colours and patterns, large white ceiling hanging lanterns and lots of windows to let in natural light. They have a huge kitchen and bar that wraps around almost the entire back wall and seating to suit singles, pairs or groups of any size. A big TV for sports followers with a high table, also cosy couch seating tucked away to the side as well as tables for dining. Admired my friend’s huge Chicken New Yorker that also came with a decent sized bowl of fries. Lucky they have takeaway boxes as she could barely finish half of it– smelt and looked good with it’s chicken breast and streaky bacon with the usual burger salad fillings. Feeling a bit healthier– got their Garrison(dressed) Chicken Caesar Salad which i found very filling– excellent, though maybe too generous with the bacon compared to the grilled chicken and croutons. A very nice space– definitely would like to come back to try other things on their very large menu

I’m afraid I don’t have anything really good to say about this bar. We hadn’t been for ages due to thinking the food was not great. Then you know how it is, it’s Sat in Sylvia Park and you need a break from shopping(especially if you are like me, and would prefer to do ANYTHING else but shop). We decided to give it another go. Bad idea. First we couldn’t get anyone to serve us, so ended up ordering food at the bar. We just got BBQ chicken wings and chips. The chicken was very average — between the two of us we didn’t even finish the 6 we ordered. Thank goodness we went for the half dozen. They just tasted like poached chicken dumped in a load of smokey bbq sauce. It definitely wasn’t marinated in it, because there was no taste off the meat. Hard to get chips wrong so I can’t complain about those There seems to be a lot of staff just standing around doing nothing, and I would never accuse them of being OVER friendly! This is good if you want a drink to break the boredom of shopping but I would rate the food court above the food served here.

This is a nice clean high ceilings pub attached to a shopping centre. They have decent array of alcoholic beverages including cocktails. The dinner menu was drowning in choice maybe too much choice for a pub because you’re not thinking clearly about food choices when you’ve had a few. I went with the chargrilled kiwi burger with 180g beef patty, egg, bacon, beetroot relish, cheese, lettuce, tomato and aioli sauce, sans the bacon and beetroot. It was kinda dry actually, I found the bun downgraded the contents of the burger because the quality within was decent. Once again it was too appetite adventurous for me and I couldn’t finish it. Surprisingly busy for a Tuesday night though. They have an outside dining area and a pool table. I like the comfortibility of they’re bar stool furniture though. As most times you find yourself sitting on something so uncomfortable you end up finding excuses to stand, hover and leave. Not much entertainment wise on music but they do have tv screens which were playing UFC fighting at the time. My kiwi colleagues recommend this as a nice casual joint to gather after work in this particularly industrial area for drinks and quick chow. I wouldn’t’ve come here of my own choice but it’s perfect for casual drinks without the typical creepy drunks and smoke filled pub casino areas.

Came here for a meal and a drink after our gyms 8 week challenge(which I won). Was an awesome atmosphere and the staff were brilliant. Only took a star off because I feel the prices of drinks are a bit steep. Other than that I’d have given a 5 star rating!

As far as pubs go, Garrisons ticks all the boxes. It’s huge and yet there are always punters here, creating an atmosphere. The food is bog-standard pub grub, but done well. The pizzas & platters are tasty & the calamari is divine. I’ve had very average fish & chips here but again, it’s a pub! The kitchen is open which is always pretty entertaining to watch. Good tap beer selection as well as ciders on tap & a decent wine list. I’m sure spirit fans won’t be disappointed but cocktail fans — this probably isn’t for you! There are TV screens for all the big games, leaners & tables galore & covered & uncovered outdoor seating. Great place to meet up with people at Sylvia Park.

Yes to coming here for a drink after work. I’ve eaten here a few times but after my last dining experience, this place isn’t a choice for me anymore. Came in for a lunch, and they were busy. I guess it is getting close to that time of year. I don’t think you should keep a table waiting on drinks for more than 15 minutes. And I dont think it should take you 15 minutes to get back to a customer about a drink being sold out. To me that was just plain bad table service. If you have two items named«salt & pepper squid», one as a main menu item and one as a light lunch menu, you should probably ask your customer which one if they say they want the«salt & pepper squid». I only found out when I was paying for my meal. I was served the wrong one, and was far too tired after the long wait for drinks and food to hit them up and just paid the for the main, which was substantially more than the light lunch option. Other than everything else though. the place looks great, plays good music(and airs big sporting events) and stocks a good range of Rekorderlig, beers, ciders and wines.

Well appointed and comfortable atmosphere that elevates this above the standard ‘pub’. Garrison is a hip and popular version of your standard local pub. Of particular note is a good selection of beers on tap that go beyond the standard Monteiths and Macs. The bar is well-stocked with many stations so even if visiting on a busy Friday or Saturday night it shouldn’t be too hard to get a drink at the bar. The food selection is modern pub-style with healthy-ish options when compared to a regular pub.

Have had a few lunches here, tried several of their pizza’s and not been disappointed. Just the right size and amount of toppings. Staff were prompt and friendly, good selection of food and beers.

I went to this place on a wet and miserable day just before leaving New Zealand. The beer was cold, the wine oh-so-amazingly Kiwi and the service was friendly. Having the prices of the beer in their drinks menu would help, but other than that, no complaints!

This pub is massive, and it needs to be because it can get pretty busy at times; especially during lunchtime or just after work hours. It seems as if those suits really like to take their clients here. It’s the perfect place for a feed and a beer or two if you’re shopping at Sylvia Park and can be a good meeting place. I’ve had some of the pizzas here, the platter and a quesadilla. Pizzas and the platter were very nice, the quesadilla was average(probably wouldn’t get it again). Indoors, the place is very spacious and there is a large outdoor seating area too which I love. The prices here are not exactly cheap, but certainly worth it. Friendly staff too, which always makes the experience just that little bit better.

For a pub at the mall, Garrisons is pretty good. It’s large and has a great outdoor area that fills up quickly on a sunny afternoon. They have a good range of drinks on tap at reasonable prices. Their menu is big and has a little bit of everything. The meal sizes are also large(so think about sharing) but the quality is only OK. I’ve never had much luck with the calamari there, but the pizzas are good, especially if you are drinking with a large group. It has a pretty good atmosphere, especially on the weekends or if it’s game night. And the best bit? Unless you’re there the week leading up to Christmas, you don’t have to worry about trying to find a car park.

I’ve been to Garrisons so many times that I’ve lost count. Its a great spot for an after work drink, a birthday dinner or met up point on the way into town on the weekends. Its part gastropub/part sports bar, with a pretty wide variety menu, full bar and projector screen and a few TVs scattered throughout the place. They’ve got a great loyalty program which I’d say contributes well to their repeat customers. Its location in Sylvia Park is handy from any which way you’re coming from in South/East Auckland and there’s ample parking. But it can get crowded– there’s lot of space for drinkers but you’ll find diners are squeezed into a section of the bar that fills up very quickly, whether you’ve made a reservation or not. I’ve gotten used to the food here, I know what’s good and I rarely have to look a the menu to know what I’ll order. They’re pretty consistent with their meals so I always leave knowing I’ve spent my money well. Try their pizzas if you haven’t, there’s a great selection with different sizes to choose from, so you’re bound to find a couple of flavours to dig into! The service here is always great, it just may take a while for your food and drinks to come to you. My advice; order your food from your waitress but go and buy your drinks up at the bar– much more efficient and you get your drink right after you order.

I came here for a birthday dinner on saturday with a group of friends. I have never been a fan of garrisons, never enjoying their menu overly particularly in relation to the price one pays, and as for their wine list, it is not one that i myself enjoy. However we had tasty cocktails– see the picture, for only $ 12.50 on saturday which was fun. I ordered the open steak sandwich which came with fries. the fries were nice, the steak wasnt bad, but being someone who eats it blue/rare i did struggle to chew the well cooked meat– though i did not specify that to the waitress when ordering. everyone else had good meals though, at a good price, so i may rethink my previous attitude towards the place.
