I mean come on. Would you think anything other than sweet when you walk past this shop? I have a problem when people complaining about sweet chocolate treats. I mean you know it’s going to be loaded with sugar even before you start, right? Anyways let’s get back to the topic at hand. Over priced they are not. 6 dollars for a Belgium hot chocolate isn’t expensive. I pay 4 dollars for a Belgium Choc-o-lait stick from Sabato and that’s before I add the milk and buy myself a warmer mug. The dark chocolate does taste better than others. The only problem is the almost none existent service. It took them almost 25 mins before they cleared down a table. To me that’s just sloppy. But hey, I only gave them 4 stars. I have not tried any of the cake treats. But then again, I have issues eating cakes that’s bought in from other business(most likely from rocket kitchen) Hot chocolate does wonders when you get blown to bits by the weird auckland weather that we are having. So, give them a try next time you are at Sylvia park. But be warned! Chocolate is sweet!

This place is severely overpriced… located mid mall at Sylvia Park… You smell it before you can see it… not just chocolate but sickly sweet sugary chocolate. I came here after seeing that Columbus was packed to the rafters other than the outdoor seating(I didn’t feel like sucking coffee out of my hair due to the wind) We ordered a really dense but thin plain slice of mud cake… no side of crème, no yogurt to cut the richness… Not even a second fork! nothing fancy, def not $ 7 worth of cake. The coffee was small and overly bitter, the iced chocolate was mostly milk with tooth achingly sweet chocolate syrup. The service is non existent, the two guys looked like they wanted to be anywhere but here and was seriously dragging ass… the coffee and Ice chocolate took a good 15mins with an empty café… we had finished the slice of cake before they even started to make the coffee. I get that this is a mall joint… but thats not a good enough excuse for any of this.

Tried this for the first time yesterday but far from wowed away. Expensive, reasonable quality but it took 20 mines to get the first 2 drinks and told the tea we ordered would follow. Another 5 minutes later I had to pick it up from the counter. Wouldn’t rave about It. At $ 18 for 2 hot choc and a pot of tea it failed to impress.

Admittedly I don’t come here too often, as I’m usually in too much of a rush in the mall to sit down and really enjoy this place. I’m a huge chocolate lover though, so if you’re like me you’re bound to find something you like in here. I’m not usually too adventurous when it comes to drinks, so I’ve only tried their hot chocolate– not bad! They truffle chocolates and ganache are really tasty though, they’re great alongside a coffee or after a meal there. One of my favourite dishes is their seasonal fruit with chocolate dipping sauce– easily done in your own home, but too irresistible to not try at the Lounge, not to mention a slightly healthier alternative. I’d say it’s in a great location in Sylvia Park, on the quieter end of the mall. The interior is pretty fantastic and I enjoy the ambience here. Wouldn’t suggest this Theobroma on a hot summer’s day, but it’s a great wintertime retreat– in moderation of course!

This place is pretty great if you get a hankering for chocolate when you’re having a look around St Lukes. One of the nice things about it is it’s a enclosed café in the food court so you feel like you’re away from the masses. We’ve been here for brunch a few times too and they do a pretty decent(and cheap!) eggs benedict if you’re not in the mood for waffles in the morning! Their hot chocolates are, of course, amazing. I love how they come in a mug on top of a tea light candle. They can be pretty sweet though so if you’re not into super sweet stuff, try out the dark chocolate or maybe just get a coffee. The little handmade chocolates they do are also very sweet and they put them in pretty little boxes which make them great as gifts.

It always smells of chocolate whenever I walk past. Cruising around the nearby shops is truly mouth watering, so naturally I find myself wandering in and ordering something extra sweet. I’ve tried Belgian Chocolate, Mint Chocolate and a cappuccino with real chocolate flakes decorating the foam instead of powder. It’s absolutely scrummy! On top of that, you can order something called a chocolate croissant, which is great for any time of day really. Real chocolate drizzled onto a fresh toasted croissant is hard to get wrong. It’s also a great place to buy presents, especially their reasonably priced fondue kits. Aside from the to die for food, the interior design of the place is very romantic and comfy. You can’t really go wrong, but your cup always appears to have an invisible hole in it, as it’s just never enough to fill your insatiable chocolate craving.

My favourite place to go for a chocolate fix, this little place is perfect for a post/mid-shopping break. It’s a little café offering all sorts of sweet chocolatey goodness. The thing about Theobroma is they use genuine Belgian chocolate which makes for a unique heavenly chocolate experience, even for the most discerned chocoholics. My partner and I *always* opt for the dark Belgian chocolate shake. It’s so, so good. The waffles drizzled with chocolate are also perfect. They also make their own chocolates which you can buy piece-by-piece. The flavours change every day but I highly recommend the dark chocolate stars, which they seem to have regularly. I think I may love dark chocolate too much. I could rave on and on about how delicious this place is, but you should really just try it for yourself. Thank me later.
