HOF is still on top list every time I feel like some sweets. With their consistent top quality, natural taste. I tried new stuff this time the raspberry mouse, amazed by the make, inside fruit jam and the smooth of whole textures. Love it. Highly recommend.

I was curious after seeing their sign on Gillies Ave and decided to find this place, what a place! Heart of Flavour is not quite in the heart of Newmarket so you have to go to a random backstreet to find it, it is a dessert lovers paradise. A large open space, you are first confronted with the cabinets where rows of beautiful cakes, tarts and cheesecakes are displayed. They also have on the other side of the store, nougat, fudge, chocolates and French pastries and if that wasn’t enough the other side of the store has fridges filled with hand made ice creams and sorbets. The sorbet is divine and they change the flavours often depending on what fruits are available during the season Everything is baked fresh daily using Artisan techniques and only the finest ingredients, so if you wanted to impress at a dinner party this would be a fantastic place to come.

Heart of Flavour is one of the best cake/dessert shops in Auckland, yet it flies completely under the radar. Their chocolate chip cookies are probably the best I’ve ever had. They do this chocolate mousse cake which Ben told me was the best he’d ever had. That’s two best I’ve ever had’s which says a lot. The prices aren’t actually too bad either, considering the desserts are very, very good and most place that good charge through the roof. I mean it’s not cheap, but it’s not a rip off. They also do smaller things that one person can manage — ice-creams and sorbets and tarts and fudge etc, so definitely stop by(the opening hours are limited) even if you aren’t looking to order a cake.
