I had seen Hum Salon a few times driving by and thinking it was somewhere the local university kids or perhaps local hippies congregated for a catch up daily. Upon closer inspection I realized that it was actually a creative space for fellow artists, musicians, poets, etc to catch up and kind of hang out together perhaps. Well that’s the impression I got the time I visited. I have to say even taking along my little guy was a hit, as they have a wooden swing hooked up to the large tree, and we climbed up onto this for a good swing whilst gazing out upon the beautiful harbour in the distance. You get some lovely sun around ten in the morning, so a perfect time to grab a coffee at the outdoors coffee stand they have available, and either lounge on some sofas, or hang out chatting with some of the staff. I got to meet a Brazilian barista and an american aspiring musician, who were all very friendly, so it was really an interesting change to sitting in a café where most of the people don’t chat amongst each other. Although my little guy did love his fluffy, I still think perhaps a better barrier should be put up between lawn and footpath, as it seems a bit too close for comfort with cars driving past, however a great chilled urban change. My coffee was very good, and I enjoyed being able to chat freely and openly with the people and staff, so that was a definite plus.

The coffee was ok. But the place is a bit dirty and old. Many smokers around you while you are having coffee. Not a place for us.
