The café at Kohu Road is a real curate’s egg. The ice-cream, unsurprisingly, is a highlight: I had a cone of salted caramel which disappeared in about 30seconds, so good was it. All the Kohu Road flavours are available, and you can also buy 1litre tubs, although be prepared to drop some serious coin for these. The space itself makes the most of its warehouse surrounds; it’s light, and open and airy. Unfortunately this means it can get noisy as there’s no soft furnishings to cushion any sound, but the tables aren’t jammed in so you don’t have to shout over the person next to you. I’m not a coffee drinker but the friend I was with said it was all fine. Unfortunately the food options for a café are pretty limited and uninspiring, and the service can be confused; they don’t do table service but on the day we were there they did! I suspect in a suburb that had more café options they may be quite a lot less busy than they are here.

This is the closest thing you will ever find to heaven in a tub. In fact, I want to move out west just for this. I first discovered Kohu Road in a magazine, of all places. One of those Top 10 ____lists. Kohu Road Dark Chocolate Ice-cream was listed there, and it, along with their other flavours are award-winning. So what better gift could there be for my dark chocolate loving fiend of a partner, than a tub of this! He loved me more that day than I think he ever has. Kohu Road Dark Choc Ice-cream is simply divine. It only seemed fitting that we had to go to the café/shop to try it out. This place is fantastic. The team that works there are incredibly friendly, and everything is organic. Coffee is also a winner. I’d highly recommend coming here if you’re ever out west and need an ice-cream fix. This is the main reason I love summer.
