The local bar of the CBD — a favorite of suits, students, and everyone in between. Always friendly staff, joined by customers keen for some quiet banter over good drinks. The cocktails are excellent.

Drinks were good but not $ 19 good. I ordered two Moscow Mules and the total came to $ 38. Then the bartender let me know that for a cheaper drink I should order a ginger beer and vodka but this was after the fact. Having just come back from the US where these would cost less than half what I paid here, I was shocked. EDIT: I take my comments back about the price, I’ve been to a few more bars and a pint is like $ 9, and a cocktail is $ 18, it sucks but what can you do.

Best bar in Auckland, hands down. Between the whiskey infusions and the crème de menthe Grasshopper, you will need no other drinks in your social life. Cool bartenders own the place and Tabac over the road. They know their stuff and they’re passionate about the business. They all make an excellently executed stirred martini and have great taste in music to suit the people in the bar. I love this place for after work drinks and early Saturday evenings. Great snuggled up date venue. Also the perfect bar to take your older(cooler than you) parents.

A million blocks out of the way for this teeny-tiny space and a $ 19 drink??? Ugh. But yall, I’m from Texas and that was a damn good margarita.

I’ve been coming to Mo’s on and off since about 2006 when I first discovered it. They have great cocktails, a cool vibe, and I associate it with fun times. It’s a little out of the way for me as an ‘after work’ drink stop(how lazy am I?) but it’s on the other side of Queen Street… I know a lot of people work around this area though, so I’m always surprised that Mo’s is never THAT busy. And it’s tiny! I like that it’s dimly lit, and usually there’s quite a lot of interaction with the bartender who like a bit of a chat. When I went last night, not so much. The bartender was a bit surly, but I could see she had her regulars that she was nice to. The smell of mulled wine was permeating the whole bar, and on an awful rainy night, that was quite nice. I had over-indulged slightly the night before, so I was taking it easy with a ginger beer, but Adrian had a couple of craft beers and from what I could see, they had a decent beer selection. I think the place might need a bit of a re-vamp soonish, but until then, it’s a solid little cocktail bar to go with a couple of friends after work, or a romantic little drink with someone spesh. They also give you complimentary nachos and salsa — delish!

Great little ‘corner bar’ in the city. And never too busy being slightly out of the very central city. Good cocktail spread, nice selection of beers and some complimentary snacks if you’re lucky. A little Frank Sinatra if you’re REALLY lucky.

Mo’s is a hidden gem. From the outside it looks pretty inconspicuous but inside it’s all personality — brightly coloured walls, framed photographs of Che and Fidel and old school classics playing on the sound system. The other night we popped in after dinner for one of their well-known Chocolate Martini’s. The cocktail is served with a Hersey’s Kiss at the bottom and although the liquid is clear it tasted exactly like the chocolate. Brilliant! This sweet treat definitely curbed our cravings but at $ 19 a pop I think we will save this as a treat for special occasions. What is really great about this place is the atmosphere. Their website names them as ‘The Friendliest Bar in Town” and I 100% agree. When we walked in the bartender was having a lively conversation with patrons perched at the bar and we were immediately greeted with a smile and asked what we would like to drink(It never ceases to amaze me how talented bartenders are at multitasking). Whilst Mo’s is predominately known for their excellently crafted cocktails, I recently discovered that they have an also awesome selection of beer including two of my personal favourites, Emerson’s and Little Creatures.
