Three of us came here on a Tuesday night at the feeling was a bit… odd. The bar was mildly populated, but there was only one bartender who was responsible for handling all the food and drink orders so she was at times, understandably, a bit difficult to find. It was nice to be able to sit outside, and wait, though. We had earl grey martinis, a rosebud cocktail, and a few beers. The drinks were good, and the cocktails were creative. The prices were okay.

It kind of has all bases covered. In the days when all I wanted was a cold Heineken after work I’d come sit outside on a sunny day and soak up the atmosphere. When I went through a cocktail snob phase I could come here and count on the skilled staff to make me feel fancy. These days I’m a craft beer douche and their selection is always small but perfectly formed. Oh, and they do a great job with events upstairs too. What makes My Bar so good is everyone wants to come here. Not too snobby, not too divey, they just do everything well.

One of the few decent drinking places open late on a wintry Thursday night. And delicious cocktails. Good range of Tuatara beer on tap, including the APA. A range of snacks to munch on, mostly the fried kind. But tasty nonetheless. Although $ 9 for a bowl of chips(fries) is a bit rich. Music is kind of boring retro rock/pop(Matchbox 20, Madonna and Wang Chun), but not offensive. Service quick and friendly.

When a group of friends and I went out, we ended up in My Bar. If that night is any indication of how it is normally, you will find a mellow place in a busy part of the city that has nice seating, entertaining patrons, and good décor. Bartender was friendly, knowledgeable, and easy to talk with about the drinks and neighbourhood. Drinks were cold and the jaffas were free! I look forward to going back and trying the different beers on tap on another night.

Great little venue! Hired the upstairs function room for my 21st and had a great time at My Bar. Staff were very friendly and accommodating of everything we wanted for the night. Location is ideal for going out afterwards and the venue itself has a great atmosphere!

This is a very good, hidden cocktail bar in the CBD. The bartenders are extremely competent mixologists and can make any cocktail — whether its on the menu or not. The atmosphere is lively and relaxed at the same time. Casual but not divey. A nice place to go before or after dinner or a show, or for a few nice drinks before heading into town for a bigger night out.

Think I might make a list of cocktail bars and put this one at the top. The barman was really passionate about making something special and ‘the rosebud’ delivered, yum!

Outstanding little bar. It’s my go to place in the CBD. No huge crowds just people who enjoy a nicely made beverage by a quality barman. It’s a good opportunity to just sit and chat with friends. Four craft brews on tap, loads of bottles, and great cocktails.

Great little spot in the City. Hole in the wall feeling but not so rough around the edges. Very competent bartender who even entertained by midnight martini request and 100% succeeded on my ‘Surprise me’ challenge. Good beer, wine, cocktails selection, and good music. What’s not to like?

Great little bar tucked away between Queen Street & High Street. Four taps of local craft beer and a good bottle selection. Friendly staff too.

Situated right next door to Renkon Japanese and just up the road from Glassons on Durham Street East, My Bar is a great place to catch up with friends over a drink. I have been to My Bar three times now and each time has been fun. The service is always friendly and the bartenders are really helpful when you want to try something new. I recommend sitting outside because it is a great opportunity to ‘people watch’ and if you are feeling hungry, you can order a meal from Renkon to enjoy with your drink. They also sometimes have live music, which is great!

George behind the bar is as lovely and gracious as one can want. The beer selection is excellent. The prices reasonable. If you’re lucky, Alistair and his wife will be down from across the lane, Jasper will be down from the University, and Welsh finance researcher will be setting us all straight on Nick Leeson and inquiring of the best gun to hire in Los Angeles. All in, no better place to spend the middle hours of a final night in New Zealand.

One of my favourite places in town for a casual drink. Boutique„ cozy, and tucked away, but not at all snobby. My Bar boasts a liquor menu that is a little bit different. The seasoned craft beer drinker will be familiar with the brew selection, and the specialty cocktails are part entertainment, part taste explosion! Also, with $ 6 weekly beers [Asahi, Heineken among them] My Bar pleases at every price level. Find them on Durham Lane between High St and Queen, also be sure to sign up for a My Bar rewards card — it’s worth it!

Squeezed between a high street fashion shop and a delicious Japanese joint on Durham lane running between high street and queen street, my bar is one if the cooler spots to take a drink in the city. Set among old buildings and a paved lane the outdoor seating puts you right in it. There is a good selection of local and imported drinks, and a decent cocktail menu too. Bar snacks and yummy platters available, service is friendly. And the atmosphere is good, as is the service. Especially like that you can sit in the large opening window over the street and chat to friends who may be sitting outside on the tables. Live music some nights and DJ’s sometimes too. location-wise, set in a funky little alley you could be anywhere in the world.
