My flatmate recommended these guys to me about a year ago, and I’ve just kept coming back since. The guys are very chatty and keep good conversation flowing, and it was strange to find out that my regular barber was an acquaintance of my grandfather back in Auckland 30, nearly 40 years ago! I guess this is a pretty small city. Top Half are an Auckland institution. Try make a booking before hand if possible, but I pop by earlier in the mornings and they’re usually very happy to find a way to fit me in.

Excellent. Loved my cut, felt like a life-saver. Fantastic old-school enviro and the barber himself could not have been a better, more thoughtful and considerate conversationalist.

Excellent Barbers. I stumbled upon them by accident while on lunch break, and have been going back ever since(about three years now). These guys have mastered the art of customer service, they always remember me and what I’ve been doing, and more importantly, completely nail traditional men’s haircuts! They aren’t afraid to take the time to do a bit of razor work(If you part your hair like I do) to ensure the lines are immaculate. I really appreciate the attention to detail, and the chatty atmosphere! I would recommend calling in for an appointment. Although they will try hard to accommodate walk-ins, they’re a victim of their own popularity, and usually have at least two businessmen getting a trim at any given time.

Possibly the most reliable hairdresser I have ever visited, these silver foxes have been cutting hair for years. A team of wise, elderly men lead the way in a short city lane, opposite Area 51 and next to Renkon. They are a team of perfectionists, with a steady hand and great attention to detail. The cuts are well priced9 approximately $ 25 – 30. Parking can sometimes prove to be a hassle, although sometimes it is best to hunt for the most unlikely place — perpendicular to the lane right on High St. George’s team can more than likely fit you in, although it is best to ring ahead. Be prepared for a good old chat about all things current affairs and sailing!
