I came here with my flat mates and we had to find our own seats cause the staff was missing. Once we sat down it took the staff 20 minutes to come over and take our order. So we finally order and then we end up waiting a hour and a half for any meal to come out. We asked kindly how long to our food is coming and the waitress says soon. The waitress comes back and says«because you complained, the drinks are on us» with this frustrated tone. Almost like she was trying to make us feel guilty. So she brings out the first two dishes and then she takes them away because they were for the wrong table but she only took one dish away cause my brother already started eating it. She comes back and says«The lady is hungry now because you ate her dish» Again making us feel guilty for their mistakes. I looked around the restaurant and other people also were getting their dishes late. After all that we all finally get our dishes but they are room temperature(not hot) and the quality of the food was pretty average and i’m someone who eats anything and everything. I got the nachos btw. When the waitress comes back my flatmate says«In future if there’s any hold ups, could you please let the customer know» and the Waitress replies«We have a cruise in and that’s why it took so long» but instead of taking the advice on board she kept deflecting the advice and eventually after not getting through to this girl we got the manager and long story short we got our money back. The manager was good but the Waitress was rude and the service was horrible. I will never go back there again. Nice place but unorganised.

We spent the last few hours in New Zealand here. It was around midnight and it was pretty damn festive. The beer was fine but the atmosphere was amazing. Way to close our New Zealand trip.

Very poor. The snack selection contained over cooked frozen deep fried fish, and the smallish serve of kumara fries I have ever seen for 13 dollars! The service I’m sad to say matched the food. No side plates cutlery or napkins offered. And we had to chase the staff who were more interested in a game of cricket than serving us drinks… The cricket match on the screen was the highlight here

We were able to find a parking spot pretty close by, near a bunch of apartments. May be tougher to find a spot during the day? We got seated at a table right away, pretty nice even with a good crowd there. It was fairly loud and there was a large group party near us but we still had our own little quiet area. There is a big deck area we sat out on, next to a big heater at a big table, so we were nice and comfy. Nice beer selection, got the Mac’s Hop Rocker, they also have other locally produced beers. The mussels were very good, came with a side of chips. Beer and cider prices were very expensive, but reasonable food prices.

We visited O’ Hagan’s Irish Pub on the last day of the honeymoon and this was when I realized there was a small part of me missing USA cuisine. I mean, I think this was the only Irish restaurant in the entire city of Auckland plus it was on the pier where all the touristy restaurants congregate. Outside the restaurant, a bluegrass band was singing a song about drinking beer and smoking tobacco. The lyrics were reminiscent of Sheryl Crow’s «All I Wanna Do» and could have fit perfectly on the Tuesday Night Music Club record she released back in 1993. Back inside the restaurant, I was waffling back and forth between ordering the nachos or the garlic bread for an appetizer. I found out on my travels that both Australia and New Zealand don’t give out complementary bread like the states, but let me assure you that at any establishment I paid up for a decent loaf was well worth it. Hot, gooey and dripping with carbs that would make Dr. Atkins roll in his grave. The waitress steered us towards the nachos and I obliged, but I knew something was amiss when she said she ate them every other day and didn’t have the husky build I would suspect upon hearing the news. Anyway, the nachos were just ok, and to call them nachos is a generous classification given their potato chip like texture and circular composition. We went with the fish and chips for a main, probably the most popular dish overall in Australia and New Zealand. This plays into the countries storied beginning as a prison for British convicts. O’ Hagan’s hovers around a 3 – 4 star for me and upon further visits I can see it moving up a star but I know I won’t be back to Auckland anytime soon unless Taylor Swift tours there(checks calendar… she is playing end of November! Woot woot!) Great atmosphere, a large bar and solid service offset the average food. Great for a group of friends that wants to watch rugby and admire the views from the pier.

My Memories of the 2011 Rugby World Cup will not be of Richie holding the cup aloft, but rather the fun and laughter I shared with my brother at O’Hagans. My brother flew in from South Africa to catch all the action, and our party headquarters turned out to be O’Hagans. This was not planned, it just happened to be our first stop straight from the airport. He loved it so much, we went there every night, watching the games and sharing the excitement with new and old friends. The bar staff was part of the fun, and there was live music between games to keep us entertained. I still go there on boys nights, and it is a testament of its longevity that it is still as much fun as it was when it started.

Located on the waterfront, O’Hagans is a special kind of place. It is definitely hard to miss, I mean one would have to be seriously out of it to notice the bar in that looks like something out of a movie. It screams«hello I am an Irish pub»! I have been to O’Hagans twice, the first time during the rugby world cup. I won’t lie and say I remember anything as I was busy screaming at the TV along with other patrons. I do say it is a great place to watch a sports game with friends, no one will judge you if you stomp your feet, pump your fists or scream when your team scores!

I imagine this place is a great spot for rugby nights and soccer matches and all of that. On a summers day when i visited it was a little different. There were small groups gathered outside taking in the rays with a early lunch and some beers, that looked nice. I was based inside though for a meeting. It was a little dire in there. There was a giant tv screen with some reality show on about a young girl boxer. I wasn’t into it but maybe other bar patrons were. So after trying to get the bartenders attention I ordered a coffee, which all bars /pubs tend to do nowadays, however they didn’t have soy(which i half expected) so i could not have a coffee. In all its a decent pub in a nice location by the waterfront on the viaduct so i can see how it gets popular and fills up fast on sports nights and weekends in general. Still i would not recommend this place if you are lactose intolerant and after a coffee in the sun.

O’Hagan’s is a great feature of the Auckland waterfront scene. It’s a cheeky little dimple on the Viaduct’s airbrushed face. It’s were you end up when you are looking for a comfortable place along the water that won’t leave you with a debilitating bill and crippled wallet. After walking past the overly pompous and elitist establishments, O’hagans appears warm and inviting, yet holds it’s own on Auckland’s waterfront. A swell spot to relax or meet a group of friend during a sunny afternoon in their spacious courtyard. Definitely a must during St. Patrick’s or any big sporting event. And, whether it’s true or not, my partner seemed to notice the staff solely consist of friendly, attractive females.

The Irish pub borders on cliché in any country with a smidge of Irish heritage, but they’re usually fun enough to justify the occasional visit with mates. O’Hagans fits the mould pretty well, while managing to be perhaps a bit bigger and posher than the norm given it’s Viaduct location. Still, Guinness on tap, nick nacks on the walls, bangers and mash on your plate and sport on the telly — all boxes ticked. I have great memories of this place during the 2011 Rugby World Cup — will never forget the adulation of being here when Ireland beat Australia at Eden Park. Never been in such a raucous crowd in a pub ever!

O’Hagan’s seems like it might be a hit-or-miss kind of place. A group of us Unilocal scouts met up here the other night to talk Unilocal. And of course, to scope the place out! I arrived unfashionably early and did manage to get directions to our reserved table from a barmaid, but only after she’d finished giggling with her friend. Okay, so it’s a pub right? Nothing wrong with the staff having a good time. I have to say that my lemon, lime and bitters was nice, and the outdoor tables looked gorgeously sunny and an excellent place to relax with a beer, but inside was more stereotypical of an Irish pub — a bit on the dark and dingy side. And I have to mention that disaster struck when very few of our group could get the WiFi going, although we’d had assurances it would work fine. I’ll try it again — I suspect it would improve with a beer or two.
